book blurb

Elizabeth~

My heart had just been splintered by the man I thought I was in love with. Betrayed by one mislead by the other. My twisted, triangle of a nightmare was over, it should be a walk in the park now… right?

That's what I thought when the clock struck twelve. I was in the arms of the man I knew I should be with and I was ready for a new year, a new me, and a new love. But this wasn't the fairy tale I thought it was going to be. I'd stepped into a completely new field and it wasn't full of daisies. It was a field of landmines, full of secrets, lies, and more heart break. Is any of this worth saving? Was he worth saving? I loved him, but did he really ever love me, or just the thought of me? Would we just self-destruct and crumble, would he let me in to see the good along with the bad, or would I fall back into old habits.

Simon~

I love her. That's never going to stop and I don't want it to. I'll make her see…

M.E. Gordon, was born and raised in Maryland, where she still resides with her husband. She is a stay at home mom to four children, three boys and one very, spoiled, little girl, all under the age of five. Growing up M.E.G. was an avid journal writer. She wrote her first romance novel at the age of 14, and it was pretty bad, but over the years and through all the kids she honed her craft. When M.E.G. doesn't have her mom hat on, you can find her reading, working on her next story or watching guilty pleasure television.

Mended Hearts
Mended Hearts - Katherine Halle

I couldn't connect to this story. The plot, the characters and their dynamics - I didn't feel them at all. I just ended up rolling my eyes all the time and waiting for the story to end so I can mark it read. It took me 2 days to finish it - that says enough.

Love Is An Open Road: Mended Hearts by Katherine Halle
Mended Hearts - Katherine Halle

This was just lovely. A free story from the Love Is An Open Road event, we meet Justin and Trey, the former being a patient, the latter a doctor. Only then they're no longer doctor-patient, and free to pursue that thing growing between them. Except Trey likes to ride his dirt bike, and scuba-dive, and Justin thinks that with his heart condition, he can't keep pace/compete. And he pulls an Edward Cullen.

The writing is fabulous. Loved the secondary characters who play a huge role in helping these two stubborn men get it together, loved the hospital settings, and how careful the author was to not break any HIPAA laws.

And yeah, they get a HFN, as they should. Well done!

Justified: A Novel (Mended Hearts Series) - Varina Denman

I don't think I enjoyed Justified quite as much as Jaded, but it was still good. It was fun to see the development of Fawn's character and JohnScott's too, however, as their relationship progressed, the tug back and forth between JohnScott and Tyler became a bit too much. That JohnScott would assume Fawn was back with Tyler given what he saw was a step up from an assault, and wouldn't even consider talking to her for days afterwards until he was forced to, seemed a bit much.
However, it was still an engaging read. I'll have to keep an eye out for more books by Varina Denman.
