Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit (Kopp Sisters, #4)
Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit - Amy Stewart

I always enjoy these books; they're soothing reads in many ways, as Stewart doesn't try to over dramatise or create more suspense than history dictates.  (This series is based on the real events and life of Constance Kopp.)  This 4th instalment surrounds the election for Sheriff, a pivotal point for Constance, because the sitting sheriff - the one that was bold enough to hire a woman - has hit his term limit and can run.

It's a bittersweet story with an interesting ending.  I look forward to finding out how the Kopp sisters fare.

Short and sweet listen.
Little Miss Perfect - Erin Mallon,Julia Kent

This is a prequel to Fluffy. Erin Mallon, the narrator does an excellent job with this fun short. Loved this series and the audio brings a great listen for a book I enjoyed previously in hard copy. Start here and go for the whole series.

Reading progress update: I've read 9 out of 344 pages.
Miss Buncle's Book - D.E. Stevenson

New mown hay, that was good, thought Mr. Abbott. Should `new mown hay´ go into the blurb or should it be left to the reader to discover? What fools the public were! They were exactly like sheep ... thought Mr Abbott sleepily ... following each other´s lead, neglecting one book and buying another just because other people were buying it, although, for the life of you, you couldn´t see what the one lacked and the other possessed.

I´m still in the mood for a lighter read. And since I´m having the second book in the MIss Buncle series on my shelf and I can´t remember much of the first book, I found a reread would be in order. And I really liked this book the first time I read it.

Miss Treadway and the Field of Stars
Miss Treadway and the Field of Stars: A Novel - Miranda Emmerson

by Miranda Emmerson

I found it difficult to settle down to the beginning chapters of this book. The premise comes across; an actress is missing. But it was like coming into the middle of a conversation or a scene in a film without an establishing shot. People are talking about what's going on and the reader has to catch up and absorb enough to get a handle on it all.

The style of writing gave it the feeling of behind the scenes at the theatre where all is organised chaos, but it also made it difficult to connect with any of the characters and get properly immersed into the story.

The story does progress and it evokes a feeling of 1960s London which is what attracted me to it, but I had to absorb it a chapter or two at a time to keep my mind from wandering. I just never felt quite grounded in it.
