ROOMFUL OF ROSES by Diana Palmer
Roomful of Roses - Diana Palmer

McCabe comes back wounded from Central America to recuperate at his ward's home. Wynn, his ward, is engaged and does not want him there interfering with her engagement. He shows her she has feelings for him, but he is still determined to go back to reporting in Central America. Can she show him her way? Will he stay or will he go?

I enjoyed this story. Diana Palmer is still one of my favorite writers. I liked Wynn and McCabe. I liked that Wynn did not let him walk all over her. She makes up her own mind. He begins to understand what she goes through when he is out getting a story and goes incommunicado during those times. They are a good couple.

The story, while written 38 years ago, is both a history as well as current events. The actions between McCabe and Wynn are very much a product of the time it was written. Wynn would not stand for McCabe telling her what to do today. She'd just do it. However, one arc of the story is getting enough water for the town for the expansion and industry. We see today how important it is with drought and climate change. I never realized how relevant these stories can be in today's time as well as when they were written.

Diamond Spur - Diana Palmer

Kate is the one the whole ranch calls on when there is an injury, illness or temper on the illusive Jason.  Known for his temper and moods, the only one he really responds to in a pinch - is Kate.  She is longing to be more than a friend and that is proving impossible.

Jason is much older than Kate that he is concerned if he starts something with her, it will actually take something from her future.  In the meantime they are somewhat friends.  Ranching as a priority, when the relationship heads south - can they choose each other?

I love this author's book and was thrilled to be able to read this one.  Old fashioned in style, the story reads as romance with a dashing hero and young maiden.  Has a terrific set pace, and the read does not disappoint.  Had trouble putting it down!  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

PASSION FLOWER by Diana Palmer
Passion Flower - Diana Palmer

Jennifer, recovering from pneumonia, is offered a job on Everett Culhane's ranch. She takes it as she is in a dead-end job and is enamored with Texas. When Everett discovers Jennifer's past, he cruelly drives her away. But neither is able to get past their relationship.

I enjoyed this story. It is an alpha/ingenue story but well done. Everett knows he has to make amends while controlling his alpha tendencies. Both need to learn how to forgive and push pass their pride. When they are together they are dynamite. I also liked how Everett's employees let Jennifer know what Everett has done when she was gone. Jennifer was able to put him in his place and hold her own against him.

This is a sweet read. I love reading Diana Palmer.

The Tender Stranger - Diana Palmer

Dani goes to Mexico for her first vacation where she meets Dutch (Eric) on the plane. He is not impressed with her but he cannot seem to get her out of his mind. The more time he spends with her, the more he thinks about her. Changing his opinion of her, he marries her then she discovers his profession and she knows she is not the kind to stay at home waiting for him. What will happen?

I love Diana Palmer's books. This is my second time reading this one (the first time was back in the 80's.) I remembered the basic story so it was like coming home to a friend. I liked Dani. She is just herself but she gets under Eric's skin. She asks for nothing but he finds himself ready to give her everything. Misunderstandings arise and he has to decide how far he will go to keep Dani in his life.

I loved this book and this series. I love the jaded mercenary/innocent virgin trope. This is one that is well worth the read.
