Ireland Bound in Dylan’s Song by P M Terrell @pmterrell
Dylan's Song - P.M. Terrell

If you are looking for a great series, you need look no further than the Black Swamp Mystery series by P M Terrell. Each book can stand alone, but I would recommend beginning at the beginning. There is to much goodness inside to miss anything.

Dylan's Song (Black Swamp Mysteries #4)

Goodreads  /  Amazon

MY REVIEW

The gang is back and I feel right at home with the cast of characters. I can hardly wait for my next action packed adventure as I finally learn about Dylan’s Irish past and what drove him into Vicki’s arms.

It starts out with a bit of remote viewing that leads Vicki to tell Sam they must rescue the missing agent…NOW.

I love when he pulls down the dilapidated garage…redneck style.

Then Dylan finds you can’t run from your past and it’s off to Ireland and it will be a family affair, Vicki and Brenda are coming too. Brenda is more than a handful…and trust…I don’t think she knows the meaning of the word.

The confrontation outside the cottage was deadly…and funny. Stay away from Vicki when she is armed with a gun. Her aim is so bad…

“You gonna mow us down like Bonnie and Clyde? And Bonnie?”

Vicki and Dylan’s love deepens and he does know the meaning of romance. Swoon worthy.

Vicki’s abilities have grown and changed, putting her in even more danger.

Nonstop action and mystery with some historical facts and humor that makes this an unputdownable, nail biting romantic suspense that left me with that OOOOO, he’s so cute, I want one of those feelings.

This may be my favorite one yet.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dylan’s Song by P M Terrell.

Monday Mini – Pokergeist by Michael Phillip Cash @michaelpcash
Pokergeist - Michael Phillip Cash

My sister, Laura, knows I love ghosts and playing poker, so she loaned me Michael Phillip Cash’s novel, Pokergeist. Looks super good to me!

“Shuffle up and deal”

I love ghosts, hauntings and poker and Pokergeist has all those things.

Pokergeist is a spine tingling novel that grabbed me and never let me go.

I felt for Telly Martin. If it wasn’t for bad luck, he would have none at all.

He reaches for the brass ring, only to be shot down time after time.

I thought I knew where this was going and I did, sort of.

Michael Phillip Cash held back a surprise that I didn’t see coming and I love surprise endings. I look forward to reading more of his work.

Saturday Shorts – Midnight Burning by Karissa Laurel (@KarissaLaurel )
Midnight Burning - Karissa Laurel

Midnight Burning is Book I of Solina Mundy’s paranormal/fantasy journey into the death of her brother, Mani.

She travels from a small town in North Carolina to Alaska and back again, seeking answers.

I love her new friend, Skylar, and think she will become a big part of Solina’s life. She’s an ex-Marine and backs down from no one.

The characters have distinct personalities and they shine through in the dialogue.

The dialogue is witty and snarky and I love it.

I love covers, especially when they foreshadow the upcoming story and this is a beauty. The eyes draw me in, looking for…

Midnight Burning by Karissa Laurel was not what I was expecting. The paranormal and myths and legends collide. It is sometimes hard to tell if their talents are a gift or a curse.

The story is predictable and there is a triangle. I would recommend the book and I am looking forward to more of Solina’s story in Book II.

Giveaway & Review – At the Sharp End of Lightning by N R Bates (@NRBatesAuthor)
At the Sharp End of Lightning (Oceanlight) (Volume 1) - NR Bates

At the Sharp End of Lightning by N R Bates is a fantasy with a touch of realism. What happens when one world leaks into another? The world building was fascinating and will lead us to the answer.

Yalara is a Sea Sprite from Oceanlight and has a mission. She must find the disappeared. Yalara and Einion of Earth will join forces to accomplish the mission.

I have a love of the world of oceans and other bodies of water, so when an author puts the real with fantasy, sending us a subtle message about our part of the polluting and ecological damage we are adding to our environment, it adds that special element that keeps me reading, wanting to know how our worlds collide and the end result.

As I read along, their world became my world.

At the Sharp End of Lightning is Book I of the series and lays a great foundation for more, with lovable characters and a villain that is able to make me wonder if he is all bad. What comes next? I am eager to find out.

I loved the special touches, like Sea Sprites having slime fights. Adds that little something extra that makes me love the characters more.

Politics abound in the fantasy world too.

The story does not end here and I am eager to continue the journey and look forward to reading the next book.

I received a copy of At the End of Lightning by N R Bates in return for an honest review.

Mer Alert! Awesome Giveaway for Of Ocean and Ash by A R Draeger
Of Ocean and Ash - A.R. Draeger

by A.R. Draeger
Series: Falling In Deep, #3
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Cover Designer: Quirky-Bird
Release Date: June 9, 2015

<!--more-->

Of Ocean… Cast into the sea at birth, human-born Ia found her adoptive family among the merfolk. While her underwater upbringing was peaceful, Ia’s blood-heritage and the strict societal rules of the merpeople lead her to wonder of the world above the waves. And Ash… When a storm lands Ia ashore, she discovers her body has transformed into the human she would have been. Taken in as property by a callous plantation owner, Ia works alongside the slaves until she can make her way back to the water. There is nothing Ia wants more than to go home, that is, until she meets a handsome, troubled man named Matthias, who has a touch that can be as kind as his tongue is harsh. Torn between two very different lives, Ia must choose – stay in his world and risk her life for a love untested, or return to the familiar arms of the underwater world that raised her and risk losing what may be the greatest love she will ever know. Will Ia’s choice lead to happiness or her destruction?

I love the cover for Of Ocean and Ash by A R Draeger. It told me what I would find inside, a mermaid able to live on land and sea, and I think that is important.

The mermaid fantasy is lived out in the 1700s, during the time of slavery on a Caribbean island, an original and unique slant to a familiar storyline.

Ia’s life started out ugly, most would say, but she didn’t see it that way. She never would have found Mother, otherwise. Even through all the pain, doubt and abuse, Ia stayed pure in heart. She had found him and knew that was where she was supposed to be.

Politics, savagery, slavery, abuse and rape occur in the mer world, just as they do in the human world.

This 136 paperback of Of Ocean and Ash by A R Draegar does not disappoint. I have not read a mer book like this and loved that A R Draegar gave us a new twist on an old story, which is difficult to do. Most stories have been told many times, just the details are changed.

Of Ocean and Ash holds a lot in a small package, a romance that surpasses all boundaries and ends with a happy ever after. Isn’t that what we all want, a HEA, though the journey to get there was sometimes ugly. Some of the peripheral characters shown through in their ability to give, even when the only thing they had to give of was themselves.

My only complaint is I wanted Of Ocean and Ash by A R Draeger to be longer, more detailed and developed. I think A R Draeger could have brought me to my knees, but, alas, there was that something special missing. Needless to say, read this book if you love fantasy. I believe it will leave you wanting more, just like me.

I received a copy of Of Ocean and Ash by A R Draeger in return for an honest and unbiased review.
