One Sentence Review – The Mermaid’s Revenge by Amy Cross @amycrossbooks
The Mermaid's Revenge - Amy Cross

I got the Mermaids Revenge by Amy Cross on an Amazon free day. Just check out that awesome cover and tagline. No way could I resist it!!!!!!!

The Mermaid's Revenge

Amazon  /  Goodreads

Sylvia finds it that it is not a good thing to have a mermaid for a pet, and this is not a nice mermaid, not your Splash mermaid,  but a wicked mermaid and I loved the mind blowing ending for this twisted ‘tail’.

Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos  4 Stars

Terrified of the world, Sylvia lives with her mother in a luxury penthouse apartment. For Sylvia, everything is a cause for fear and panic. Isolated and friendless, she has no interest in the outside world at all. And then, one day, her mother unveils her latest purchase.

A mermaid.

A real, live mermaid, captured and placed in a water tank.

For Sylvia, the mermaid is both terrifying and fascinating. Repulsive and beautiful.

Soon, however, Sylvia discovers that the mermaid hasn’t just been brought to London so it can be put on display. And as the mermaid makes plans to escape its terrible fate, Sylvia is thrown into a horrific battle for survival.

The Mermaid’s Revenge is the story of a scared little girl who comes face to face with the true horrors of the natural world.

Ireland Bound in Dylan’s Song by P M Terrell @pmterrell
Dylan's Song - P.M. Terrell

If you are looking for a great series, you need look no further than the Black Swamp Mystery series by P M Terrell. Each book can stand alone, but I would recommend beginning at the beginning. There is to much goodness inside to miss anything.

Dylan's Song (Black Swamp Mysteries #4)

Goodreads  /  Amazon

The gang is back and I feel right at home with the cast of characters. I can hardly wait for my next action packed adventure as I finally learn about Dylan’s Irish past and what drove him into Vicki’s arms.

It starts out with a bit of remote viewing that leads Vicki to tell Sam they must rescue the missing agent…NOW.

I love when he pulls down the dilapidated garage…redneck style.

Then Dylan finds you can’t run from your past and it’s off to Ireland and it will be a family affair, Vicki and Brenda are coming too. Brenda is more than a handful…and trust…I don’t think she knows the meaning of the word.

The confrontation outside the cottage was deadly…and funny. Stay away from Vicki when she is armed with a gun. Her aim is so bad…

“You gonna mow us down like Bonnie and Clyde? And Bonnie?”

Vicki and Dylan’s love deepens and he does know the meaning of romance. Swoon worthy.

Vicki’s abilities have grown and changed, putting her in even more danger.

Nonstop action and mystery with some historical facts and humor that makes this an unputdownable, nail biting romantic suspense that left me with that OOOOO, he’s so cute, I want one of those feelings.

This may be my favorite one yet.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dylan’s Song by P M Terrell.

The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall by Katie Alender
The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall - Katie Alender

Delia just inherited a house, but not just any house - it was once an institute for troubled females. But many of the patients weren't insane, just strong willed. And it seems even in the death the house wants to keep the girls locked away.

Delia learns that when she gets trapped in the house.

I wouldn't say this book is necessarily original, but it was well-written. And very thoughtful concerning death. Gave me a lot to think about at times.

I liked Delia. I could relate to her, especially her rebellious nature. And the fact that her parents were somewhat overprotective. She was a good character that changed throughout the book.

The story was interesting and I thought the ending was quite nice. 4 and a half stars.

Shadow People and Cursed Objects
Shadow People and Cursed Objects: 13 Tales of Terror Based on True Stories...or are they? - S. Mickey Lin,Keith Karabin,Sean Ealy,Barry Charman,C. Le Mroch,C. Le Mroch,Alice J. Black,Ken Teutsch,Evan Dicken,Carl Barker,Emerian Rich

I was given this book for free from the website Haunt Jaunts and 13 tales by various authors that may or may not be based on true events.

The book started strong with a story by Alice J. Black about a chair that will kill you if you sit in it. And continues with equally spooky stories. Some of the stories I really enjoyed and a few others, while I liked, didn't enjoy quite as much.

This is an enjoyable collection of short horror stories. And it was nice that at the end to read if they were based on true stories or not.

This was a book I had actually submitted one of my short stories too. My story wasn't accepted, though. I liked this book and I am grateful that I was given the chance to read it.

The Walking Dead Volume 24: Life and Death by Robert Kirkman
The Walking Dead Volume 24: Life and Death (Walking Dead (6 Stories)) - Stefano Gaudiano,Charlie Adlard,Robert Kirkman

Spoilers ahead.

In volume 23, Carl left the Hilltop colony to follow the Whisperers because of Lydia. And after reading this, I feel I can say Lydia was telling the truth. She doesn't like what her group does, but I suppose she feels she has no other choice than to follow them. I also understand Carl caring. It is good to care, but at the same, they've known each other a very short time. How could he know for sure she was trustworthy? He doesn't. And even if he did know for sure, his actions were stupid. He has not only put himself in danger but everything and everyone in Alexandria are now also in danger because of his actions, because he acts without thinking. I have to say, I've not been happy with Carl these last few volumes.

I also wonder what Negan is up to. How did his cell get unlocked? He says he wants there to be trust in his relationship with Rick. After all, Negan is done, I just don't know how he can expect trust from anyone.

And the Whisperers. . . Their beliefs are crazy. They are definitely dangerous. I feel for Rick and everyone else. Things have been peaceful, maybe even normal. It seems now they will have to defend themselves again.

And Maggie had to make a hard decision. I just wonder how Rick will react to it.

The ending made me even less happy with Carl. Maybe I'm being harsh on him, but if he'd only listened, I think those people would still be alive.

I can't wait to read the volume. I wish I could read it right away, but I'll have to wait for my library to get it.
