Red used to have it all. Sexy, powerful and attractive to all women, as the ruby dragon he had the world at his feet. But now he's awakened and collared, unable to use his powers and alone in the modern world. His only company is his insane adopted cat and Faye, the curvy, sweet neighbor who makes his dragon sit up and say ‘mate’. Too bad the only woman he finds irresistible has no trouble resisting him.

Faye doesn’t know what to do with Red. He’s always causing trouble, between his cat making noise at all hours or the women constantly chasing him. But he isn’t like the hot jerks she has met in the past. Yes, he’s sexy, with green eyes and a body to die for, but he’s also kind, funny, and needs her help. He’s also willing to protect her from her ex. So despite her mistrust of men, he might just be slowly winning her over.

Though men have let Faye down, Red is sure she just needs the right dragon to help her find her wings again. He just has to do it before the evil creatures after them catch up

Review

I like dragon shifters. I like working class heroines.

However, this book wasn't good. The romance was fine but the outside plots were annoying and just didn't hold my interest.

Zeus is a big burly bear shifter and a seriously badass special forces dude. When his bear recognizes waitress Carly as his mate, for once in his life he’s lost as to how to proceed winning her hand and her heart. Luckily, in Bearstone Village there’s a threat in the form of a jackass motorcycle gang and when Carly witnesses some of their shenanigans it gives Zeus the opening he needs to protect Carly from them. Ok, maybe that’s not as fortunate as it sounds, but really it is. You’ll see.

Warning: This story is unbelievably repetitive. The same descriptions and same sentences over and over again. Seriously. I got it. They have the hots for each other. It’s insta-lust. The love I don’t believe, but whatever. Flesh out more to the story instead of saying the same thing on practically every page.

I’m not a fan of Carly, but I do love Zeus. The sex scenes are decent, but there is little depth to the characters. I’m disappointed since I loved Double Dragons. I may or may not try out the next book in this series.

Cain Hunt is addicted to adrenaline, an extreme sports athlete who is always going as fast as possible in an effort to outrace his own past. But all of that comes to a halt when he's called home as the second prince of his people and told he has been picked next for a mate by the oracle. Cain isn't sure he's fit to be anyone's mate, but when his match turns out to be curvy, sweet Brenna, a girl he grew up with and has always remembered, he is ready to do his best.

Brenna doesn't know what to do about Cain coming back and recklessly proclaiming that she's his mate. He's tall, he's sexy, and she has had a crush on him since she was little. Plus she's currently in a bit of a jam with a stalker and having Cain around could certainly help. But she's not looking to get with a guy with a dangerous, reckless lifestyle. Even if his kisses and steamy embraces make her desperately want to think otherwise.

Cain says he can change, but Brenna knows it's not that simple, and that Cain will have to open up and face the demons inside of him if they want a chance at a happy ending. Now if only that can happen before the evil man chasing her can get his way...

Bear-ly A Hero is my first read by author Terry Bolryder and I liked it!  Bear-ly A Hero is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading.  This book is well written and the characters are lovable.  If you're looking for a fun read, Bear-ly A Hero has plenty of drama, action, humor and sizzle.  Bear-ly A Hero is book 2 in the Bear Claw Security Series, but it can be read as a standalone.  I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Terry Bolryder in the future.
