A Taste of Honey by Kai Ashante Wilson
A Taste of Honey - Kai Ashante Wilson

4.5 stars.

Recommended.

While the book was stunning, even without true romance, I can't give it five stars.

The last chapter ruined it for me. Not because how it ended but the way it ended. While I cheered for the MCs, I could not connect with that reality.

Don't want to say anything else for the fear of spoilers, I already gave away too much.

@Monica - thank you, my friend, for the amazing rec and gift :) *hugs*

Kidnapped by the Pirate by Keira Andrews
Kidnapped by the Pirate: Gay Romance - Keira Andrews

3.5 stars. It's not the book, it's me.
Two MCs are thrown together for a month or so, sharing a cabin. I get claustrophobic :(

Under a Blood-Red Moon (Duncan Andrews Thrillers #5) by Stephen Osborne
Under a Blood-red Moon (Duncan Andrews Thrillers Book 5) - Stephen P. Osborne

One of the best series I've ever read.
By the looks of it, there is going to be a #6 and a good chance for a #7 =)

Best part, don't worry about gaps in between the books if you can't read them straight up. This one is so easy to remember. There is only a handful of characters and a simple universe where anything goes. If you manage to remember a (dead) Witch Council, 2.5 MCs (cause very prominent zombie dog for a pet) and 4 secondary characters, you are golden! Oh.... and Donald Drumpf Trump. He is a part of this book, and you just cannot forget THAT character, no matter how much you try.

yeah, now you know why I tagged this book "horror" and "humor" at the same time

5 stars.

PS I just want to mention: this series is urban fantasy at it's finest truest purest self. A major city, Indianapolis, to be precise, is housing all kind of magical creatures that human population is not aware of. A human detective along with his friends - a few humans with and without psy abilities and paranormal/magical creatures - battle the dark forces. It's not simply taking action in a city, it sticks to the tradition. An extra star just for that. And that makes it SIX

Oracle (The Blood Legion #1) by Myka Ramos
The Blood Legion: Oracle - Ashlyn Daube,Myka Ramos

Switching POV's got me confused  little.

MC's talking, instead of fleeing (never mind another person is endangered too), was extremely frustrating.

However, this is a short story for a free event and other than those two instances I really enjoyed the adventure. The world building is pretty good for a short, the characters endearing. The end result is 4 stars.

Eagerly awaiting book 2 =)

Community Service (Broken Mirrors #3) by Vaughn R. Demont
Community Service - Vaughn R. Demont
Some of my notes from Goodreads:

"Here we go again: info dumping and making things up on a fly (to add page count?) and reminiscing while everything is going to sh*ts. Why am still I reading this? @.O
Ah, right, challenge. And stupid notion that I must finish a book if I am past 75%."

"Omfg, stab me, stab! me! You don't frigging explain everything to your nemesis, you just KILL them! I swear my eyes are rolling all the way across *deh pond* right now!"

"This why I don't like present tense and cheap tricks horror books. You can't have a decent battle. The hero has to pause and reflect and both the hero the villain have to keep yapping at each other in the middle of life/death struggle. It's triple annoying! Maybe THAT is meant as horror? And damn if I am not tempted to dnf this bs at 80% :/"
