Above All Else by Dayton Idoni
Above All Else - Dayton Idoni

I have to say, over-explaining often got in the way, which is especially annoying in a short book.
I was thinking of rounding the 3.5 stars down, but the originality (and the cover) won me over.

Community Service (Broken Mirrors #3) by Vaughn R. Demont
Community Service - Vaughn R. Demont
Some of my notes from Goodreads:

"Here we go again: info dumping and making things up on a fly (to add page count?) and reminiscing while everything is going to sh*ts. Why am still I reading this? @.O
Ah, right, challenge. And stupid notion that I must finish a book if I am past 75%."

"Omfg, stab me, stab! me! You don't frigging explain everything to your nemesis, you just KILL them! I swear my eyes are rolling all the way across *deh pond* right now!"

"This why I don't like present tense and cheap tricks horror books. You can't have a decent battle. The hero has to pause and reflect and both the hero the villain have to keep yapping at each other in the middle of life/death struggle. It's triple annoying! Maybe THAT is meant as horror? And damn if I am not tempted to dnf this bs at 80% :/"

Just Jack by Meredith Russell
Just Jack - Meredith Russell

I am OK with cheating...

BTW, ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ CHEATING!

...and I am OK with drinking, but I am afraid that the insane amount of alcohol consumed in this book might leave me with a real non-book hangover tomorrow morning @.@ cause too much.

Seriously, tho, for the most part the characters talk and drink and talk and drink. I was hoping for more angst, a decent confrontation or two, problems at work, you know, the Whole Shabang, but it all turned rather too sweet and mellow for my taste.

Book Tour Review that I am Involved with.
The Mortal Falls (Undercover Elementals) (Volume 1) - Anna Durand

My Review

I really feel bad for saying this, but I just couldn't get into this book at all. And I found myself skipping a lot of the pages in the book just so I could get done with it as fast as I possibly could. I can't even remember much of what happened and I have no interest in finding the book to look for that information.

Maybe later down the road I will try to do a re-read of the book and like it, I have had cases like that before.

The main character in this book her name was Lindsey, and the main guy character was Nevan. I thought both characters were just alright to me, I didn't love them but I didn't hate them either. The book ending in a good place for the second book in the series, but I doubt I will continue on with it.

I gave the book one star due to the fact that the storyline sound pretty good. I really don't know what else to say for this review, so I guess I will end this review here.

Thanks for all parties involved that allowed me take part in the book tour for this book, when I requested to take part in it.

Thanks to Bingo. Now time to get back to other things I do besides reading every spare minute, though it's been fun.

No samples again, but clearing that folder again will resume soon. I have 5 Netgalley books to clear and then I'll settle into keeping at least 1 A-list book going while working through the Bingo folder where I have a load of back-ups for some of the squares. I might even read something besides Horror soon.
