I had a doctor's appointment at 7:15 this morning, but it got cancelled. Next available is 2 October. Glad it wasn't an emergency!
But I had other errands to run, so about 8:30 I headed into town. Last stop was the grocery store.
I always check to see if they have large plastic storage totes on sale. Today they did! But it was a weird sale. The pinkish-purple totes, 18-gallon size, were 2/$5.99. The turquoise blue totes, exact same size, were 2/$6.99. I put two of the pinkish-purple ones in my cart and headed to the check-out.
But I got charged $5.99 for each of them!
Rather than argue with the cashier and hold up the line, I went right to the customer service desk. Sure enough, I was right and they were wrong so I not only got refund of my $5.99 (plus tax) but an extra $5 for my inconvenience! Whoo hoo!
So I drove home and quickly unloaded the few groceries -- which had been "bagged" into the plastic totes -- because it was still 85 very humid degrees even though we're supposed to be "cooling down." I put the ice cream away and the produce and BF's oatmeal raisin cookies. Last things to come in were the two jars of refrigerated pickles.
And one of them was open! ARGH!
Fortunately, it hadn't leaked, but I will definitely have to take it back. Thank goodness I have to go back into town tomorrow anyway and this won't necessitate an extra, separate trip.
It's just an annoyance.
Another annoyance is the huge storm system headed our way. Looks like heavy rain is likely for most of the afternoon and into the evening. To be honest, I'm ready for it.
Especially if it sends all the T A R A N T U L As back into their burrows!
