If you're looking for Gaiman and a boat, Stardust had one.

I did see the original rules, but I thought the tagged on goodreads rules were loosened since. I saw where Blue confirmed sources other than goodreads could be used.

But, I was asking if had to be tagged on first page of goodreads shelves only or if just tagged that way.

(Moot point for my current read because -- while utterly inaccurately tagged -- it was on first page of shelves).

Incidentally, no one has to have a goodreads account (or login into their account) to see shelves, reviews, or any other book data on goodreads.
Yeah I don't remember a boat in Neverwhere either. I was kinda hoping my memory was faulty.

And Debbie, I can't say whether the original rule was loosened or not beyond what was already discussed. That's just where I took my original interpretation from.

I think some answers have gotten spread out in comments on posts as well as this thread, so figured best to also have clarified here rather than wading back thru all the blopoly posts to find it again.

Yeah I think we've been talking a bit at cross-purposes because we've been looking at different comments made at different times. Sorry if I've added to your frustration!

I think that as long as you're making a reasonable effort to follow the spirit of the rules it should be ok (imho), but my view comes from trying to make this game more fun than frustrating.

Oh, I'll likely do my own thing anyway and stay out of the drawing, but I'd hate for someone to get frustrated and skip a square because a potential read wasn't on first page of goodreads shelves even though shelved/tagged appropriately for the square.

And I like knowing the rules of the game being played.

I would be willing to edit the rule to read as follows:

Players can roll no more frequently than every other day. Example: player rolls on Monday, but doesn't finish her book until Thursday - player can roll on Thursday, because Tuesday and Wednesday are non-roll days. If player finishes her book on Friday, she still can't roll until Saturday, because Friday is a non-roll day or the player.
I've posted the rules change!

I'm actually used to games on goodreads (particulalry if team versus individual challenge) only letting you do one book, dice roll, bingo call, et. al. per week anyway. Tends to level the playing field for differing reading speeds and book sizes. Usually set a minimum page number to count as a book so if someone wanted to read a 12 page short story they'd have to read more than one until pages added up (not an issue with booklikes-opoly, of course, since page counts are assigned different $$$).

Not suggesting once-a-week for this game because that would take forever to go around the board and destroy the momentum and frenzy of activity the game is seeing.

But, stick a pin in it as an option for future, other games it might suit.
I don't think it will be a problem, but will ask anyway: Can I still join the BL-opoly?
(I've secretly already started :) )

I think the answer to that is a resounding: Of course you can!!!

I second Broken Tune!
The more the merrier.
(and the bigger the tbr)
*snicker* yes, the bigger the TBR pile! While attempting to use to reduce my TBR, everyone else's books look so interesting ...

@URL Phantomhive, glad we sucked you in.
So the rule change addressed on the rules thread:
It's now you can roll every other day, no longer only roll on odd number days?
Reply to post #157 (show post):

Yeah, except that if it takes you more than two days to finish a book, you're eligible to roll when you're done instead of waiting for an odd-numbered day.
Need help?
