A Sexy Thing Happened at the Book Fest Anthology
A Sexy Thing Happened at the Book Fest (It Happened at the Book Fest) - Alexia Purdy,Lizzy Pope,Mia Bishop,J.L. McCoy

Another fun addition to the Lake Morgan Book Fest short story anthology - only this one is a little hotter. There's quite a variety of quick romance-style short stories in this one. Again, some really stood out and I loved them, while a couple fell a little flat.

Here's a couple of my favorites:

Lucy Charm: This was an amazing story - my favorite of the bunch. A good dose of awkward girl meets a strange man from the past - or the present - it's one of those where things seem to mix and merge and I was never 100% sure. But that was part of the fun of reading it. I different take on the one night stand genre that I really enjoyed.

The Gift: More of a romance in the traditional sense. I really fell in love with Rachel from the get go, she was a great character. And while I had a harder time with Ian, in the end he was a great guy - just a bit one dimensional. He is quite the gentleman when the two of them get stuck in the basement - I sure wouldn't mind being stuck down there with him!

An ancient curse takes effect
Solidify (Woodland Creek) - Alexia Purdy,Woodland Creek

What a ride, this was my first book from Alexia Purdy, I went in there not sure what to expect, but what I read was far better. 'Solidify' is Alexia's installment for the "Woodland Creek" collection, a collaboration of 30 authors all writing about 1 little town in Indiana USA, I was intrigued with the concept behind this collection.

This was quite a ride I can tell you, what a way to find a new author & the shifter/paranormal subjects within this book?? WOW. An ancient curse (you could almost call it that) has been started, a series of dreams, a newly made shifter & a limited time to stop the curse before the full moon ends. I was drawn in, until the end.

Alexia enthralled me with this story, I need to read more from her, also I can't wait to read what the others have written for the "Woodland Creek" collection.

REVIEW
New to me author.
I love vampire books and when you add in other creatures well it is a combo for a good book. This one however was slow to start for me. But after a few chapters it picks up and gets very interesting. This is not the typical Vamp book though as these vampires are a mixture of vamp/zombie like and then you get the hybrids who are something all together different.

April a young strong woman is determined to rescue her mother and little brother from the vampires. The story is set in Las Vegas and a virus has changed most of the people there. April thought all vampires bad until she meets some that are hybrids. April is a fighter and refuses to give up even if it means her death. Oh she also meets Rye who is a mixture and his friends and things start to look up a bit for April.

I am a lover of paranormal and I love when an author throws a mixture in a book. This book gives you that mixture and it also gives you the creep factor because you know this could happen a virus could wipe out mankind and change us all. So if you can't handle that then this may or may not be the book for you.

I was gifted the audible copy of this book for my honest review. And I also own the kindle copy of this book.[b:Reign of Blood|13271555|Reign of Blood (Reign of Blood, #1)|Alexia Purdy|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1329073391s/13271555.jpg|18475324]

ARC Review: Spinning Scars
Spinning Scars - Alexia Purdy

I received an ARC to give an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story even though it is short I wanted more. It did feel a bit rushed at times but I guess when trying to fit a lot within the story it has to be.

Matthias is not a normal human he is something more but when he meets Ruby he finds out that he has feelings for her. Ruby seems to be a normal college kid minus the whole not having parents but it seems there is something more to her than meets the eye. Matthias is being hunted by The Others and The Others know of Ruby and want her safe. Will Matthias open up to Ruby once she sees his scars and what they mean on Matthias or will she run away.

This is a great I want to use the word spin but that may not be correct on the story of Frankenstein. Just read the book to know what I am meaning.

I would love to see this book go on even further to see what else can go on between these two characters and what not.

Evangeline
Evangeline - Alexia Purdy

I read the first book in this series last year, my first book from Netgalley (oh, the memories). However, I have since collected this prequel as well as the second book from Amazon/Smashwords and was planning on reading them for some time. Starting with Evangeline.

It's a very short story in which there isn't too much to be told. It's hard to really rate a short story without putting it in the bigger picture. However, I thought it was quite a nice introduction but for one thing: there was so much emphasis on the fact that she was different that it really annoyed me. Even though the story was very short.

I'm still planning to read the second book, Ever Fire some time soon.

Evangeline is a short prequel story to the Dark Faerie Tale series. The other books in this series are Ever Shade, Ever Fire, Ever Winter, The Cursed, Ever Wrath, History of Fire, Ever Dead and Legends of Fire.
