Dead Heat
Dead Heat - Bronwyn Parry This is the first book by Bronwyn Parry that I've read, and it certainly won't be the last. I picked this up as part of the Aussie Author Challenge 2014 that I'm taking part in (which is a great way to discover new authors).

When national parks ranger Jo discovers a dead body on a routine patrol, it's the start of a nightmare. The only witness to the murder suspect, she is drawn into the shady world of drugs and illegal weapons, with only ex-undercover policeman Nick having a remote chance of protecting her. Each with their own painful histories, Jo and Nick must work together if she is to survive the ordeal

I've marked it down to four stars because part of me couldn't quite believe that Jo would be so in control after seeing one of the dead bodies (I'm not going to give anything away here), but she is a strong, capable and likeable character for the most part, so as a reader, you're definitely in her corner all the way.

I've already picked up another of Bronwyn Parry's books to read off the strength of this one, and look forward to reading more by the author over the coming years.

Dear Ruth - Bronwyn Parry Dear Ruth - Bronwyn Parry More a sketch than a story -- mostly of interest if you plan to read [b:As Darkness Falls|3750342|As Darkness Falls (Dungirri, #1)|Bronwyn Parry|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1222832274s/3750342.jpg|3794202].

As Darkness Falls - Bronwyn Parry Enthralling Australian romantic suspense. Characters, country and community all ring true. And I enjoyed how the mystery was structured.

I recently listened to Bronwyn Parry talk at the Romance Writers of Australia 2013 conference and this book is just like her -- smart, funny and generous. Real.

Dead Heat - Bronwyn Parry Dead Heat by Bronwyn Parry is a gem. This is first class romantic suspense with well-developed main characters, no shying away from hard choices and hard lives, and high tension with believable and dramatic action. But what really sold me was the vividly Australian setting. The little details made both place and characters come alive.

The writing was crisp and strong (matching the storyline and hero/heroine).

Having started the book, I read it in one gulp. I won a copy of “Dead Heat” which pushed it up the TBR pile, but it was already on my AWW2012 list thanks to reviews such as Shelleyrae’s on Goodreads.

It’s lovely to have a book on my shelves where when someone says “Australian romantic suspense?” I say, read Dead Heat!
