Best of Luck (Chance of a Lifetime, #3)

Chance of a Lifetime #3, I have been impatiently waiting for this book since the characters were introduced to each other in the first book. This can be read as a stand alone but I really recommend reading the first two books to get the whole picture. This is written in third person with alternating perspectives of Greer and Alex. I loved this book the story and the characters so emotional.

Greer, Kit and Zoe buy a lottery ticket never expecting to actually win, so far Kit followed her dream and bought a house and fell in love, Zoe quit her job and went on an amazing path of self discovery and fell in love too. Now it's Greer's turn who was finally able to follow her dream and go back to school. She's almost got her degree when they tell her she short credits for art.

Alex Alverin, Kit's older brother, is a world renowned photojournalist his plan to come to his sister's wedding and then take off again has to be revised when his debilitating panic attacks get worse. With the urging of his agent and Greer, who caught him in the middle of one during the wedding, he takes some time off. But he won't be idle on his time off Greer recruits his help with her art credit. Greer's only hope to get the art credit she needs is to take a photography class subtly using Alex to get the teacher to agree was aggravating but easy. Greer also gets Alex to agree to go see a therapist while he's here. Alex was always attracted to Greer but the more time he spends with her the more the attraction builds into something more, and vise versa, and the more he learns about her the more he's tempted to try and stay. Greer may have fallen in love with Alex but she knows him to well and is just waiting for him to leave again. Alex's fears are so deep rooted he doesn't know if his love for Greer is stronger than his wonderlust.

Overall, this is my favorite of the three. Both of the character's histories play a part in why they act they way they do and how their budding relationship gives them a new perspective and allows them to look at their lives differently and finally be willing to change for the better. There is such deep emotion and fear that Kate Clayborn really puts you through the ringer with this one.

Chance of a Lifetime - Marissa Clarke

This is my first time reading Marissa Clarke's work, and it will not be my last. This book came on my radar as it is a story about friends becoming lovers. I am a huge fan of these types of stories, as such I could not pass up the chance to read and review this title.

Chance of a Lifetime is the third book in the Anderson Brothers series, and can be read as a stand-alone. It's a story of courage, love and freedom. In this installment, readers are given insight into Chance Anderson's life and that of the woman he has loved his whole life.

Chance first met Gen Richards when he was eight years old, and she was five. Since that time they were inseparable. Chance made her special while everyone else treated her as if she was helpless. However, while in their teens an unfortunate accident occurred and Chance was banned from Gen's life. Her family considered him to be a bad influence.

Gen Richards is not your typical romance heroine. She has been blind all her life. Her family treated her like a handicap. However, Chance helped her to look beyond her blindness. As a result, she was able to see that she was capable of doing anything she puts her mind to. Gen was not aware that her parents had banned Chance from seeing her after the accident. She believed that he had abandoned her, and for years she resented him.

Ten years later Gen, after witnessing the death of her co-worker via a freak accident, decided she was tired of playing it safe. As a result, she decided to resurrect her high school bucket list. Little did she know that her decision to complete the items on her bucket list would lead to Chance re-entering her life.

It was a pleasure meeting the characters. Gen was amazing. Initially, she sacrificed her freedom to please her family, but the she realises that she was not living. I loved how she stood up to them and in the process gained her freedom to live her life as she sees fit. She is the epitome of strength, self-reliance and courage.

Chance is such a sweetheart. His feelings for Gen are genuine. He loved her so much, that he was willing to stay out of her life if it meant that she would finally stand up for herself. He knew that for them to be together she had to be willing to fight for her freedom.

The romance was entertaining, sweet and delightful. Gen and Chance brought out the best in each other. I thought they made a perfect fit. I loved the way they interacted with each other. The story was well written. I was pulled in from the moment I began reading. I liked that the misunderstanding of ten years ago, that led to them to being out of each other's life, was resolved.

Chance of a Lifetime was a satisfying read. I will definitely be looking to read the other books in the series. This is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance.

"A Chance of a Lifetime" by Marilyn Pappano

My Thoughts....

This series really puts more icing on the cake as this is this author's fifth in the Tallgrass series that features Benita Ford and Captain Calvin Sweet from Tallgrass Oklahoma. The reader will be presented with a story that will be with the reader long after the read. This read will take the reader to three friends since childhood but after growing up we find that only two of the third friends had remained friends. What had happened in the total relationship to Calvin, J'Myel and Bennie known as childhoods....'The Three Musketeers?' Would a death of one of the friends and the return of another from Afghanistan who was now back home suffering with PTSD bring these two friends [Bennie and Calvin] back together again after many years had passed? I loved how this author was able to bring into this storyline not only the two main characters but another group of characters were simply off the chart so well developed, defined, well portrayed and believable. Here are just a few of this wonderful cast of characters..... The Sweets Family, Pickerings Family, Ms. Emmeline, Diez, Joe Cadore, Lucy[Luce],Trinity Adams, Ilena Gomez, John, Tuesday Night Margarita Club members....Carly Clark, Jessy, Fia, Marti, Patricia, Leach, Therese to name a few. Many of these people will have there own story that will be well mentioned in this story. The Margarita Club members who were all friends and widows...who had lost a husband in war. I loved this group of ladies! I found this novel to be very well written by this author...the main question would Calvin and Bennie take the ultimate risk for a love of a lifetime after all is said and done and Bennie learns the whole story of just what had happened between them[Calvin & JMyel? I don't want to spoil any of it other that say you will have to pick up this author novel 'A Chance Of A Lifetime.' It will keep your attention all the way to the end giving her readers a good read. Would I recommend? Yes

CHANCE OF A LIFETIME
Anderson Brothers #3
Marissa Clarke
Releasing November 16th, 2015
Entangled: Lovestruck

Sometimes the biggest risk is playing it safe…

Gen Richards is tired of living down to her family’s expectation of the helpless blind girl. Resurrecting her high-school bucket list that begins with “kiss a total stranger” seems just the thing until she finds herself in a panty-melting lip lock with her big brother’s best friend.

Chance Anderson thrives on adrenaline, but Genny’s the one risk he’s not willing to take. His recklessness a decade ago landed her in the hospital and ejected him from her life. He’s bad for her and everyone knows it—especially her big brother.

Chance reluctantly helps Gen complete her bucket list in order to keep her out of trouble. Running through a freezing fountain, playing Spin the Bottle while fending off a mad horde of stinging insects, and skinny dipping with homicidal attack swans don’t hold a candle to the real danger: falling for the one person he can never have.

Excerpt #1

Her agenda since this whole thing began had done a one-eighty. She no longer wanted to hurt him and show him what he’d missed when he left all those years ago; she wanted to make up for lost time. She wanted to kiss and touch and hold him like she had in her dreams—and in her imagination when she was alone. She wanted him to see her for the woman she had become. She wanted him to help her scratch number ten off her list, finally, after a decade of waiting.

Okay,” he said. “I’ll go through with it, but I want to see the list. Keeping me in the dark is counterproductive.”

Kinda like being me, huh?”“You know what’s on the list, so, no.”He wanted to see the list. Fine. She’d show it to him. She pulled it out of the back of her phone case and handed it to him, waiting for his reaction with a smirk.

To her shock, he didn’t ask what to make of it. Instead, she heard him running his fingers across the surface. Shit. He could read braille. When had that happened?

So... Speedboat, slow dance in the rain...”

Give it back!” she swept her arms in the direction of his voice and made contact with his chest. Grabbing his T-shirt in her fist, she reached for his right arm.

Play spin the bottle?”

I was fifteen! Please give it back.”She had to get it away from him before he read number ten.

Sleep under the stars...”

That was number nine. She lunged and made a mad grab for the scrap of paper, but only managed to rip a corner off of it.

Lose it.”

Crap, crap, crap. She slumped to the floor and buried her face in her hands to hide what was surely the mother of all blushes based on the hot flush crawling over her skin.

Lose what?”

He could not be that dense.

Oh...that.” He sat down beside her, turned her hand over, and placed the list in her palm.“I was fifteen,” she said again as if it made a difference. “I’m sorry, Gen. I didn’t mean to upset you. You handed it to me.”

I didn’t know you could read braille.”

He tipped her chin toward him with his fingertips and wiped away an escaped tear. “You don’t know a lot of things about me.”
