quote 2017-11-09 15:15
¨If you take a book with you on a journey,¨ Mo had said when he put the first one in her box, ¨an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it...yes, books are like flypaper--memories cling to the printed page better than anything else.¨

Alte Liebe rostet nicht
Tintenherz (Tintenwelt, #1) - Cornelia Funke

Dragon Rider - Cornelia Funke

Fantastic read. I really enjoyed this book.

I was a bit hesitant to read it after I read Inkheart earlier this year. I loved Inkheart, but it took me a while to get into it. This one, however, had me hooked at page one.

This is a great adventure tale. In comparison to Inkheart, it has a faster pace. There isn't as much downtime between events. In this one there is pretty much always something going on.

I loved the characters as well. Sorrel was definitely my favorite. The edition I read also included a very short story about how Sorrel and Firedrake met.

A great book for young dragon-lovers, especially those who don't really like dragons only being represented as evil in books.

Inkheart - Cornelia Funke,Anthea Bell

I will admit, it took me quite a long time to get into this book. But by the end, I loved it.

I remember trying to read this book multiple times growing up, but I just couldn't get through it. The first few chapters are interesting, but they really drag on. The book is written in a similar style to many old children's books like Treasure Island and Peter Pan where the action is slow to come and the narration is filled with lots of details and descriptions.

However, once I got into it, the book was fascinating. I loved the plot and I especially loved Meggie's character and how she grows throughout the novel. This book is filled with fascinating characters and situations. I also really enjoyed all of the quotes and references to other works of literature.

The whole idea of the book was magnificent and I really enjoyed it. This is a perfect fit for book lovers. The only drawback for me was how detailed it was. The world building was great, but after a while I just wanted the action to get going. There are so many interesting interconnected things, but it takes a really long time for them to all come together. I'm not surprised that my middle-school self gave up on it, but I am so glad I came back to it as an adult.

A great book with a fantastic plot that is long and slow at times, but overall a very cool read.

Inkdeath - Anthea Bell,Cornelia Funke

This series always makes me want to read. Which is convenient since I'm already reading... But it makes me want to keep reading forever. If you're having a reading slump, these books will probably help you out.

I also love the variety of well-rounded characters. Violante might actually be my favorite character, though she's not the conventional "good guy".

I did think it was tiring that Dustfinger died and was revived for the second time in this trilogy. That's a bit much.

(spoiler show)

I don't know. I waited too long to write this review. But I really enjoy this series and I definitely recommend them to fantasy fans and book fans in general.
