Neural net-generated first sentences

I could see some of these (in the first few sets, anyway) working as good NaNoWriMo prompts. My particular favorites:

"How many times have I had the misfortune to die?"

"I was playing with my dog, Mark the brown Labrador, and I had forgotten that I was also playing with a dead man."

David Gets in Trouble
David Gets In Trouble - David Shannon

David Gets in Trouble, written by David Shannon, is another silly book about David. David is getting in trouble yet again and he comes up with different excuses for his bad behavior. I can use this book in my classroom to teach about the different types of sentences (command, question, exclamatory and simple) and punctuation (period, question mark and exclamation mark). We as a class can go through each sentence and determine what type of sentence it is and identify the punctuation.

quote 2018-02-17 19:31
There are two reasons why a writer would end a sentence with the word "stop" written entirely in capital letters STOP. The first is if the writer were writing a telegram... But there is another reason why a writer would end a sentence with "stop" written entirely in capital letters, and that is to warn readers that the book they are reading is so utterly wretched that if they have begun reading it, the best thing to do would be to stop STOP.

Cookie's Week
Cookie's Week - Cindy Ward,Tomie dePaola

Written by Cindy Ward

Illustrated by Tomie dePaola

Cookie is a mischievous black and white kitten who gets into trouble every day of the week, knocking over trash cans and getting shut in drawers. What will Cookie do on Sunday?

This book would be great for discussing days of the week with kindergarten or as a simple introduction to exclamation marks in first grade. Cookie is a lovable kitten and the colorful illustrations will keep readers engaged.

Red Moon - DNF at 10%
Red Moon - Benjamin Percy

Brainycat's 5 "B"s:
blood: 4
boobs: 0
bombs: 1
bondage: 0
blasphemy: 0
Stars: 2
Bechdel Test: FAIL
Deggan's Rule: FAIL
Gay Bechdel Test: FAIL

Please note: I don't review to provide synopses, I review to share a purely visceral reaction to books and perhaps answer some of the questions I ask when I'm contemplating investing time and money into a book.

I DNF'd this at 10%. This feels like a YA book; all the POVs (except one) are of kids and it looks like they're shaping up to be the main characters. The only exception is a maternal warrior character a'la Ripley. The writing is solid - though made of small words and short sentences - and the plot is based on an interesting premise. I think it could be a good story, but YA isn't for me.
