Feminist Comics: An Essential List (from Flavorwire)

Happy International Women's Day! Here's a pretty great list of feminist comics to kick things off! I have read/continue to read almost every comic on this list (yes, even Oh Joy, Sex Toy- which is fabulous). My Fab 5 Friday picks for feminist comics all made this list, which is really cool, and I'm looking forward to tackling the 2 or 3 titles here that I haven't read yet.

10 Must Read Books for February 2016 (from Flavorwire)
The Queen of the Night - Alexander Chee
Better Living Through Criticism: How to Think about Art, Pleasure, Beauty, and Truth - A.O. Scott

For once, I've actually read two books on this list, and I can recommend them both:

The Queen of the Night by Alexander Chee (review TK today or tomorrow, hopefully)

Better Living Through Criticism by A.O. Scott (holding review until release date, 2/9)

Flavorwire: Best Literary Criticism of 2015

I'm a sucker for long, academic, and potentially angry critical discussions of literature and literary culture. Flavorwire has conveniently collected what they consider the best of 2015 (they also have a lot of other great "Best of 2015" lists on the site as they close out the year).

The Hugo Awards...and the Soul of Fandom (from Flavorwire)

I know a lot of readers have been following the clusterfuck attempt to derail the Hugos this year. This short article gives a brief look at how the awards have closed on a positive, if somewhat ambiguous, note. I voted this year, so I'm happy to say my little voice contributed to the failure of the Puppies to achieve their ultimate ends (as did many others- voting this year was up 65%). This is not a permanent victory, but it's something.
