Forsworn (The Last Oracle #2) by Emily Wibberley
Forsworn - Emily Wibberley

Synopsis:

It’s been a year since Clio made her sacrifice to the Deities and embraced her destiny as the Oracle to save her people.

The only family she has left is a brother who wants her dead.

The prince, her oldest friend, is a king with his own agenda.

And the man who once loved her, now hates her.

All she can do is try to forget about Riece, the enemy commander whose heart she broke to save his life, as she serves the Deities. Her days are filled with Visions and bloodshed in a never-ending war against the Untouched. To add to her problems, she must pose as King Derik’s mistress to conceal her forbidden powers from the Emperor’s spies.

When Riece unexpectedly returns to Sheehan with a new and beautiful ally, Clio knows she must put him out of her mind once and for all, but first, they are thrust together into battle against a mysterious Untouched warrior with otherworldly power. To reclaim her city, she must team up with the man she hurt, the man she still loves but can never be with, and finally confront the questions about her origin—questions with answers that Clio may not be prepared to face.

My thoughts:

4 ½ ★

I liked this book as much as the first one, if not even more.

It starts a year after we last saw Clio in the last book. When we first see her again in this book she seems darker, even more serious than in the last book. Hardened by all she went through. Though she is not cowering in a corner not she is fighting. She is a warrior through and through in all aspects.

Amazing Sequel!
Forsworn - Emily Wibberley

This is a show stopping book.  I loved the sequel even more than the first book which is really rare for me. Clio is almost like a new character.  She has embraced her destiny and willing to try it a new way.  It was a great change of pace.  It was interesting to see the Clio develop but I missed her from the first book.  You do get to see glimpses of the old Clio.  I was pretty much on the fence after the first book whether I was team Derik or Riece.  I have decided I am totally team Riece.  I love how snarky he is with Clio.  He really makes me laugh and I always picture him with a playboy smile. This book flowed so smoothly.  I devoured it so fast.  I am anxiously waiting for the next book.  I am excited.

Favorite book(s) of the month: basically everything

Books started this month but haven't finished yet: Die Bestimmung: Letzte Entscheidung, Created

This month started really slow for me, I thought I would only end up with three books this month, cause Allegiant really didn't do anything for me, so I'm glad I put it away and started some other books. It worked wonders. 6 books really aren't that bad.

review SPOILER ALERT! 2015-07-11 15:05
Forsworn!!!
Forsworn - Emily Wibberley

I got a chance to read an ARC of this book. It's will be released on july 21st and it's the second book in the The Last Oracle series. The first book is Sacrificed. It's an amazing fantasy ya series, with wonderful characters, especially the girls in the book are so bad-ass.

So on to the review, it's a bit spoileryespecially since it's the second book in the series but oh well, I can't help myself.

Most of the time when I truly love the first book, there is a 99.9% chance that I will be let down by the next book. But holy heckles, I loved this book even more.
I just really love that these books are so fast paced. Even in the quieter moments, there are still so many things happening.

We also got some new characters. Clio's vessels. Ashira, Ixie and Lireen. I love their relationship with Clio so much, it's wonderfully written. We also get princess Zarae, right from the beginning, I was hoping that she would turn out to be one of the good people, cause I really loved her right from the start.
And Tirza was back. She was one of my favorite sidecharacters in the first book and she remains that in the second one. She is just wonderful.

Riece and Clio. I just love these two so much. The remind me so much of an old married bickering couple. It's just wonderful.

What I loved about the book was the backstory that we got, that we found out some things about Clio's mother. That we learned more about the origins of the Untouched. Also more about the Deities and how things with them work. Really unsettling on how they make sure that there will always be new girls born with the sight.

I truly recommend that book, the whole series, for me personally it's one that I want to read over and over again.
