One of the best Anthologies I ever read.
Another Place in Time - KJ Charles, Jordan L. Hawk , Aleksandr Voinov, Kaje Harper,Tamara Allen,Joanna Chambers

Normally I am not a fan of Anthologies, as the quality of the pieces tends to vary a lot.

And I don't like short novellas or short stories.

But this one was really a great read.

My personal highlights and worthy 5 star reads:

Introducing Mr Winterbourne by Joanna Chambers (so sweet and hot and wonderful)

The Ruin Of Gabriel Ashleigh by KJ Charles (hot and full of tension and gooood)

The other stories were good too - ranging between 2,5 to 4 stars, so all in all 4.

Another Place in Time
Another Place in Time - KJ Charles, Jordan L. Hawk , Aleksandr Voinov, Kaje Harper,Tamara Allen,Joanna Chambers Great stories for a great cause. A must read. I had so much fun reading these short stories and testing authors that are new to me. As Susan Lee said, "They are such TREATS...nuggets of yummy historical goodness." Amen to that!

Another Place In Time (Anthology)
Another Place in Time - KJ Charles, Jordan L. Hawk , Aleksandr Voinov, Kaje Harper,Tamara Allen,Joanna Chambers

~*~* Thank you Susan Lee for bring these amazing authors together in one anthology. The mind boggles! *~*~*

I admit that I am also one of those readers who swear that "I don't LIKE historical romance", be it male/female or male/male. Being an Indonesian who was enjoying the 90's and 2000's, I totally didn't get the period in historical romance, especially it being all the way in either United States or Europe.

Plus my country's history would be totally different than those being portrayed in those kind of romance. I wouldn't feel connected. But then I challenged myself reading historical MMs early this year and I realized that I could actually love them. IN fact, few of my latest 5* read in MM were historical. Imagine that.

So of course when I saw this anthology, with some of my favorite authors, I just HAVE to read it...

Foreword by Alex Beecroft
Thoughtful foreword -- "And roots are essential if a plant is going to thrive.". I may still think that historical is NOT my genre. But I'm opening up myself to it, that's for sure.

"Office Romance by Tamara Allen" : SKIPPED, NO RATING
As with my previous experience with Tamara Allen, her writing style and I just didn't see eye to eye. The language felt aimless and even until halfway through I had no clue of what Ms. Allen was trying to tell me. Since it is my own chemistry issue with her writing, I skipped this one and decided NO RATING.

"Introducing Mr. Winterbourne" by Joanna Chambers: 4.25 stars
It was definitely Ms. Chambers ability to tell a story, that I didn't even notice (or care enough) that Lysander and Adam had only JUST met that day before they stumbled into bed! I usually enjoyed my built-up romance a bit longer. Duly noted since this was limited by its length, such built-up was probably not possible. But OH, my God, this story just ticked all my romantic bone; despite the twitching hole. From the slight animosity to the sizzling gradual awareness of attraction ... the DANCE, the sex(!) -- we had a sighting of virgin hero, people!! -- and the HFN. It was hopeful at best (again, they had only spent one day together), but I already imagining long-wonderful partnership between the two. I just loved it!

"The Ruin of Gabriel Ashleigh" by KJ Charles: 4.25 stars
Uhum, basically a very predictable enemies turn lovers involving a game of cards and a man fell from grace (come on, you all KNEW it would turn to be slightly 'this bet involved you getting nekkid for me' game, right?!?) but HECK the sexual tension was ON FIRE!! Plus K.J. Charles seems to love having her characters doing it on a table ... and table sex is HOT!! LOVED IT!!

"Unfair in Love and War" by Kaje Harper: 4.35 stars
What I love from Kaje Harper's stories is how she always seem to take good care of her characters despite the hurt they are experiencing. I think Kaje Harper writes hurt/comfort so very well. The way Kaje Harper built up the friendship between Warren and his neighbor alongside the sexual connection -- and then the conflicts that happened because of Stefan's background ... Just awhile ago I was surprised by how Kaje threw a twist on another short story, and she did it again here. An amazing story. Oh, and the women in this story was absolutely great as well. I loved them so much. This was probably my favorite in this anthology because it had a very good beginning, conflict, resolution, and lovely ending.

"Carousel" by Jordan L. Hawk : 3.5 stars
The thing is, you need to know the characters first since this is part of Jordan L. Hawk's "Whyborne & Griffin" series. So I imagined those who never read it would be missing important information. Having said that, I still thought this was a nice case, albeit short. I always welcomed Griffin's point-of-view, and I thought this story did well in order to give Griffin's another thought of finding out about his brothers.

"Deliverance" by Aleksandr Voinov : 3 stars
Confession: I just don't really read Voinov. There, I say it. It's another one of those writing chemistry things, I just don't click with his writing, nor the stories he likes to write. This one was okay, I guess. It was rougher (sex-wise) than the rest, but didn't rock my boat. In fact, I mostly skimmed it.

So in conclusion:

- Most adorable: Joanna Chamber's
- Most SEXY: KJ Charles's
- Most solid and well written and favorite: Kaje Harper's
