Release Week Review! The Coyote's Bride (Masters of Maria #6) Holley Trent!
The Coyote's Bride - Holley Trent

Related to one of the oldest shapeshifter legacies in Maria, Lily Baxter grew up knowing there was a chance she’d find romance among the supernatural. But certainly her idea of romance wasn’t a drunken one-night stand with a Coyote she loves to hate, a Vegas wedding, and soon after, a heartrending miscarriage. She and Lance Aitkenson obviously aren’t meant to be.

But while secretly coordinating their divorce far from the snoops back in town, her new husband gets jumped by man-hating jaguar shifters, and it’s up to her to smooth things over. There’s something stranger than usual about these Jaguars. Not only do they seem to have abilities no other shapeshifters have, but they claim a centuries-old connection to Maria’s resident goddess. They see strong-minded Lily as a kindred spirit, but Lance fears they harbor sinister motives.

Together, he and Lily might be able to unravel the secrets of the mysterious cult and prevent them from disturbing the peace back in Maria, but can they really work cooperatively when they’re so close to calling it quits? Or will they realize that they don’t need an accident as their excuse for sticking together?
___

Also available in Masters of Maria:
1 - THE DEMIGOD'S LEGACY
2 - THE ANGEL'S HUNGER
3 - THE WOLF'S JOY
4 - THE COYOTE'S CHANCE
5 - THE COYOTE'S COWBOY

Each Masters of Maria story contains a complete romance set in small-town Maria, New Mexico. Read earlier stories set in this exciting and magical world in the Desert Guards and Sons of Gulielmus series!

Not only was their romance one that disappointed Lily Baxter but their quick trip to end it lands this couple right into a modern western showdown not only between them but with a group of man-hating jaguar shifters with mysterious abilities.

Sparks fly in every direction throughout this thrilling showdown of epic proportions between Lily and Lance as their sizzling chemistry keeps them all worked up. They seem to rub each other the wrong way which keeps this relationship in extreme turmoil which leads to a ‘War of the Roses’ type relationship and has them engaging in heated encounters full of angst, snark and just plain meanness.

These two solid characters easily pull readers into their story and provide them with lots of wild entertainment throughout the fast paced and explosive plot, but that’s not all that’s keeps the readers glued to the pages as they are introduced to some mysterious man-hating jaguar shifters whose motives are anybody’s guess and of course Lola and Tarik make a few ambiguous visits.

I was completely charmed by Lily and Lance and their uproarious courtship throughout The Coyote’s Bride and I couldn’t help but sympathize with some of their personal issues involving miscarriages. Every visit to Maria is an entertaining and eventful one but I have to say that this one certainly never had a dull moment and I didn’t want to miss one second of it and with the way it ended (which the author was so nice to give an explanation for) I am certainly looking forward to reading the next story and finding out more. Note: Miscarriages are a very sensitive subject, but the author interjected it into the story in a non-invasive or offending manor and provided helpful information to readers.

Release Day Review! The Coyote’s Cowboy (Masters of Maria #5) Holley Trent!
The Coyote's Cowboy - Holley Trent

Those sexy shapeshifters are once again on the prowl in Maria, New Mexico, in this tender romance that explores the soft side of being accepted—and loved.

Sheena Esposito has never rocked the boat in her father’s repressive Coyote pack, but when she learns of his intentions to further antagonize a rival alpha, she can’t stay quiet. She must warn the good guys that trouble is headed their way.

When her search lands her outside Maria, New Mexico, a surly ranch hand pegs her as an annoying stray dog. Desperate to keep his new job, cowboy Austin Stuart plans to get rid of the distraction. Yet, according to his little brother, the dog is really a human, and she’s on the run. Could this get more ridiculous? But he soon finds out shapeshifters are very real…and all signs point to Austin being Sheena’s mate.

After a lifetime spent recovering from one embarrassing social gaffe after another, Austin is open to trading his solitude for a chance at having a partner who’s kind about his rough edges—and no one’s sweeter than Sheena. Unfortunately, Sheena is still under her abusive father’s thumb, and she knows he’s waiting for her back in Sacramento.

It’s up to Austin to convince her that the bravest thing she can do is stay in Maria—not only for him, but so she can incite lasting change in Coyote culture as well.

Sensuality Level: Sensual

I have just returned from an exciting visit to the Town of Maria where I met two strong and captivating characters. Sheen and Austin held me hostage with their sweet romance as they traversed some rocky slopes, emotional turmoil and dealt with an overbearing and dare I say…evil, alpha / father all while taking pleasure in some red hot passion when their sizzling attraction could not be denied. I felt like I really got to know Sheena, Austin and the people of Maria as Holley Trent brought her wonderful characters to vivid life which made my visit such an exciting event because I felt like I was a part of the action as Sheena fought for her freedom and for her right to choose. Although this trip was a bit short, my visit to Maria was fast paced but full of anticipation and excitement and I can’t wait for my next which will take place in July.

New Release Review: The Coyote's Chance (Masters of Maria # 4) by Holley Trent

It’s a literal fight for love in this fast-moving shifter tale in the popular Masters of Maria series.

For coyote shifter Blue Shapely, becoming the new alpha of Maria’s pack is his long-awaited chance to be his own man and eliminate chaos from the town. Unfortunately, the pack’s patron is thwarting him at every turn.

After being magically attached to the Coyote group for more than a century, demigoddess Willa Matheson has a soft spot for them—even the dangerous ones threatening to expose them to humans. She may have hired Blue to rein in the pack, but the two constantly disagree on strategy. She doesn’t want to upset anyone, whereas he’ll do whatever it takes to get his Coyotes in line. And to make things worse: all signs point to the anxious demigoddess being his mate.

But developing a tenderness for Willa will be an obstacle to Blue’s determination to be as ruthless as he needs to be. If the duo can’t find a way to retract their claws, and soon, it may be too late to protect the pack’s secret—and their own hearts.

Sensuality Level: Sensual

The Coyote’s Chance is an enchanting book that characters were a bit surprising because they were in no way what I was picturing. But this is a good thing, because the difference added a whole different feel to the book and made it a very interesting read. Willa was the most surprising because her being a demigoddess had picturing a whole different personality but the surprise that the author had in store for me added a lot of depth to the characters and definitely had me emphasizing with the characters as I became totally engrossed in the rocky relationship growing between these two characters. As usual, Holley Trent manages to portray her characters with a vibrancy that makes it easy for readers to become caught up in the story as well as ensuring that the characters heat up the pages with lots of steamy passion.

The readers are also kept glued to the pages by the suspense that builds throughout the story regarding their respective fathers who cause some major conflicts for Willa and Blue and what their future has in store for them. Lots of action and thrills to keep reader’s on the edge of their seats but what’s more, the author adds some unexpected twists to keep readers guessing as to what will happen next or even if Willa and Blue shall overcome some major obstacles in their search for their happily ever after.

Holley Trent has added another enchanting book to her growing list of wonderful books as I was totally captured by Willa and Blue’s story and I can’t wait for the next Master of Maria book.

good book and characters
The Wolf's Joy - Holley Trent

Alex wiped down the table for the former queen of Elves- Marissa- and pulled out a chair for her. Alex asked Marissa if she had brought the fruitcake and she said it was at Noelle’s. Alec had gotten her first bite of fruitcake when her old roommate Beel had left it on the counter and Alec couldn’t resist seeing what was in the foil covered package. She had loved the fruitcake. Marie was a sleepy New Mexican town. At three in the afternoon the sidewalks were basically empty and the roads quiet. The rest of Clarissa's party was outside .on the sidewalk- Noelle and Jenny who worked in real estate . There was about to be a bunch of new people in town- warehouse workers and they were trying to find houses for the early white collar arrivals. Maria was a supernatural hot bed but wasn’t common knowledge to humans. Alex has inside information as Belle who had been her former roommate was a cougar shifter and her father had been the cougar’s group’s alpha before he died. Alex had lived in Marie since she was five.  In thirty minutes Alex got off work. Then she turned to find a werewolf right next to her - they hung around Clarissa - he asked Alec her age. Ben was at the point in his life where he had to find a mate or go feral. He really didn’t want a mate he was finally making good money.but he had no choice in the matter. Belle had told Alec to avoid werewolves. Ben eventually asked Alec to hook up for the night. Alex had been the first one he had asked and Ben’s wolf liked Alec so more Ben and less wolf came out. He asked Alec about her foraging or stealing as he put it and she told him about the business she hoped to start. Ben is a mechanic yet he was afraid of change and that included having a mate in his life. Alex can’t seem to resist Ben but she had been hurt before and she wanted someone she could stay with and build a life with.

I liked reading this paranormal shifter book. I wasn’t sure at first but something kept me reading and I am glad of that. This definitely has a different take on a  shifters romance. But as I read on I grew to really enjoy the book. I liked the plot as well as the pace. This made me laugh at times and that is always good. This novella was a light, fun, easy read. Ben and Alex did compliment each other and I really liked that. I liked also how Ben ended up wanting to be the man Alex needed. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

New Release Review! The Wolf's Joy (Masters of Maria #3) by Holley Trent
The Wolf's Joy - Holley Trent

A holiday hook-up leads to a lifetime of love in this charming story continuing the adventures of the Masters of Maria series.

Alex Cavanaugh is used to fielding odd requests at her waitressing job. She would have never predicted, though, that she’d get brazenly propositioned for a one-night stand with a needy werewolf—or that she’d be lonely enough to tell him yes.

Ben Swain’s inner wolf has been howling for him to take a permanent mate, but he’s terrified of change. He’s clawed his way to status and respect from his pack and doesn’t want to sacrifice that for anything. A short tryst while he’s visiting Maria, New Mexico, before the holidays is supposed to be a stopgap measure to keep his wolf hormones in check, but Ben’s animal side wants more of Alex.

Although she’s a human, quirky Alex’s go-with-the-flow, practical personality perfectly complements Ben’s wild intensity. But after being burned by men before, her budding horticulture career has become her number one priority. Sure, she wants love, but she’d rather be alone than with someone who isn’t fully committed. So why can’t she seem to resist Ben?

If the two can’t figure out a way to balance the two most important things in their lives, all they’ll be getting for Christmas is regret.

A fun and entertaining novella set in Holley Trent’s Masters of Maria series.

The characters are a bit quirky and are so right for each other that this short romance will raise your spirits which is fantastic as it releases just before the holidays. The author brings her characters to such brilliant life that readers can just feel the chemistry and heat from each and every page and it they can definitely see where Ben and Alex are perfect for each other.

Their romance is so full of amusing quirks and leaps that it brought a smile to my face throughout each and every page which brightened my day and of course the supporting characters have certainly caught my interest and ensured that I want to visit the town of Maria again and get to know them all.

Which as you may have guessed means I need to go back and read the first two books in this series.  I just hate it when life gets in the way of my reading time, because then I get behind on all the wonderful books out there and Holley Trent is definitely one of to be read authors and The Wolf’s Joy is a fantastic quick read.

The Wolf’s Joy is the 3rd book in the Masters of Maria series

Author’s Note from website: The Wolf’s Joy takes place after The Angel’s Hunger, but it stands alone pretty well—kind of like my Norseton Wolves novellas. Don’t worry about trying to catch up on all of the previous books set in this world before you read it!

The next book in the series, The Coyote’s Chance is coming soon!
