Review ~ Decent read
The Walking Dead Book Fifteen - Robert Kirkman

Book source ~ Library

Recent events have thrown Alexandria into turmoil, and now Rick, Dwight, Eugene and Negan all have something to prove. Meanwhile, a new world order awaits...

Collects THE WALKING DEAD #169-180.

Rebuilding time. And Eugene’s radio friend gives them the go ahead to come meet her community, so Rick sends a delegation. POV changes repeatedly as we follow Alexandria, Hilltop, Negan, Jesus & Aaron, and the delegation.

Oh, yeah. There’s no way this is going to end well. I’m getting so tired of this shit. Maybe I’ll read book 16 when it comes out. We’ll see.

Nope, nope, nope
Savage Dragon #228 - Erik Larsen,Erik Larsen

Looks like this love affair is done.   I will not be looking for more to read, although I might catch up if I hear that this gets better later on.

Nope
Savage Dragon #226 - Erik Larsen,Erik Larsen

Oh, wow, this got pretty porn-y.   Like remember when Anita Blake went from plot to full out porn?

Yeah, just there's actually visuals to go along with it, and no thank you.

So I said this got better
Aphrodite V #2 - Bryan Edward Hill,Jeff Spokes

And boy, does it!   Between figuring out who Aphrodite V is, or trying to, and whose trying to kill off her new friend, things get better.   It allows us to explore who Aphrodite V is and to figure out where she fits in this world, especially with the distrust Hui-Men shows for Aphrodite.   Is Hui-Men correct?    Her boss shows much more trust in Aphrodite, but he could just be putting himself in danger since he has no basic knowledge of who she is.    Yes, she saved him once; does that mean she will again later on?

Things start to make sense, the plot starts really moving along, and this just gets better.

This series grew on me
Aphrodite V #1 - Bryan Edward Hill,Jeff Spokes

And I can say that, having read the whole thing.  But it started out with what I felt was a whimper, and I wasn't really sure I'd continue immediately.  In fact, I remember reading little of something else and then coming back to this.   I'm glad I did: the setup is a little confusing here, but the character arc is worth wading through a less impressive first issue.

Not sure I felt it was fully resolved at the end, and the ending doesn't take away my feelings about this: I'd forgotten about who Aphrodite V was, and I wasn't sure when exactly this was taking place.  I wasn't sure what her meeting and saving a super rich dude had to do with her greater storyline, from what little I did remember and from what I knew about Aphrodite IX.

I wasn't sure I was into the billionaire against billionaire intrigue that this promised to follow through on, but it was worthwhile.   I especially like how they dealt with the rest of the world not knowing who, or what, Aphrodite V was.
