Love with a Notorious Rake (Men of Wollstonecraft Hall #3) by Karyn Gerrard
Love with a Notorious Rake - Karyn Gerrard

Love with a Notorious Rake - Karyn Gerrard

You now that feeling when you already like an author's work and then you read their newest and you're totally reminded of why you like it? This was a perfect example of it for me.

With a course hovering over his head, Aidan has spent his entire adult life in debauchery. His last stint lands him in the care of Cristyn's father's sanatorium, where she acts as kind of a physician's aid to her father. He and Cristyn form a friendship that eventually transforms into more but because of Aiden's reservations they end up parting ways.

I loved Cristyn's openness and candor. She still behaved as a proper lady however that never stopped her from acknowledging her feelings, speaking her mind, and demanding the respect she knew she deserved.
I found Aiden's true feelings touching and the perfect basis for his addictions. There was honesty in what he did and as a character he grew immensely, trying to make up for past mistakes, and by taking up on his family's radical ideas of helping those in need. He was frank about his mistakes and totally owned them. I particularly loved how he handled his association with an old paramour, which in the eyes of his society would have been total ruin, possibly even worse.

Other characters from previous books make appearances here giving us glimpses of Aidan as part of a loving family. It also provided a sort of epilogue for the other men of Wollstonecraft stories, which I always consider a treat. Overall, I thought it was an endearing, charming, and unique story. I would recommend this series and author to anyone that enjoys history along with their romance.

* I received a copy of this story at no cost to me; this is my honest opinion and in no way was it influenced by the author or publisher. *

Marriage with a Proper Stranger (Men of Wollstonecraft Hall #1) by Karyn Gerrard
Marriage With a Proper Stranger - Karyn Gerrard

This book is plain and simple one of the best examples why I read and LOVE historical romance. Not only there is always a HEA but more often than not they offer a history lesson that would be hard to learn in a basic elementary classroom. This story deserves praising for that alone.

Riordan and the rest of the Wollstonecraft men are actively working in bettering the lives of those around them. They believe justice and equality should be for all and not only members of the upper class. It was the same firm beliefs and principles that persuaded him to help Sabrina. At first he was hesitant to agree to her outrageous plan because of what it would entail but after hearing her heartbreaking story of abuse he decides to help her in spite of knowing what he’d have to face down the road.
My favorite part of the story were the Wollstonecraft men. They weren’t perfect in any way but the way they all behaved put them pretty close to perfection. I truly cannot wait to read each of their stories.
I felt sorry for Sabrina from the get go. She had a despicable father that only cared for his own welfare and didn’t give two figs about her. It was easy to see why she thought her only escape was to marry a total stranger. Still, it took me a while to warm up to her and I had trouble understanding some of her actions, especially when she discovered the things Riordan kept from her.

One thing that I disliked though was that the curse was almost non-existent. Perhaps it was a mistake on my part and I shouldn’t have assumed but the way the book started made me think that it was going to be what moved the story forward but it felt more like an afterthought. I’m hoping we get more of it in the next books because it was a good premise and I’ll like to read more about it.

**I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.**

Hot Quick Read
The Spinster and Mr. Glover (Blind Cupid Series Book 1) - Karyn Gerrard

The Spinster and Mr. Glover by Karyn Gerrard is a short read, perfect for those with limited reading time.  Ms. Gerrard has provided us with a well-written book.  I love the characters.

Desmond is a male prostitute in the 1890's.   Anne is a spinster that hires Desmond.  Their story is full of drama, sizzle and a little humor.  I enjoyed reading this short story and look forward to reading more from Karyn Gerrard in the future.  The Spinster and Mr. Glover is book 1 of the Blind Cupid Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

The Governess and the Beast (Blind Cupid #2) by Karyn Gerrard)
The Governess and the Beast (Blind Cupid Series Book 2) - Karyn Gerrard

*** WARNING ** WARNING ** WARNING ***

Just a heads up: this is most definitely an 18+ read so if this is not your thing you may just want to skip the whole thing, even the review :)

The Governess and the Beast is the second installment in the Blind Cupid series but it can definitely be read as a stand alone.
It tells the story of a man scarred by war, not only outside but inside as well. Apparently everything had been given to him in a silver plate up until the terrible accident that caused his disfigurement and after that he felt he had lost all that he was. The, ahem, governess had scars of her own. When they meet, she was escaping from a torrid past and hoping to start a new life, she answered his ad. What she didn’t expect was to find a solitary man who would help her face her own demons and appreciate her own need for love.
It was a fantastic short, erotic read with well-developed characters that kept me turning the pages, enthralled by the connection that the author managed to knit between Lila and Simon. Sure, the steaming sex scenes were well-written but sometimes those don’t work unless there is something else beyond the sex and I’m glad to say this story delivered that “something” else for me.
