Shiver
Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater

Normally I'm not that into YA books including vampires/werewolves etc. But I heard a lot of positive stories about this series by Maggie Stiefvater, so I thought: Lets give it a try.

It didn't disappoint me at all. I liked it. It was a easy reading, nice story. Different from what I'm used to read, but fun though. The story wasn't very complicated, I'll admit that, but it can by nice every once in a while to read a more simple book. It can be really enjoyable. Probably also a good read during the summer vacation.

The Lightkeeper's Ball by Colleen Coble $1.99
The Lightkeeper's Ball (A Mercy Falls Novel Book 3) - Colleen Coble

It is the dawn of a new century and Olivia Stewart is heiress to an empire. Her family numbers among the Four Hundred—those considered the wealthiest and most distinguished in America. Unfortunately their wealth has nearly disappeared, and now their security rests upon the Stewart daughters marrying well.

Olivia's sister, Eleanor, was engaged to Harrison Bennett, one of the nation's wealthiest men, but has since died. Now the pressure is on Olivia to take her place, despite her suspicions about Eleanor's fiancé. Using her family's long-forgotten English title, Olivia travels to Mercy Falls, California, as Lady Devonworth, hoping to learn more before committing to marriage. There she finds that Eleanor's death was no accident. And Harrison is not the man she thought he would be.

When Mercy Falls holds a charity masquerade ball to raise funds for the new lighthouse, secrets—and truths long hidden—will be revealed. But can Harrison really love Olivia when he finds her true identity? Can she live with the repercussions of failing her family, or will she finally realize that nothing—not money, family, or romance—will ever compare to God's unconditional love?

Shiver
Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without.

Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever. (source)

BOOK SYNOPSIS

then.
When Sam met Grace, he was a wolf and she was a girl. Eventually he found a way to become a boy, and their love moved from curious distance to the intense closeness of shared lives.

now.
That should have been the end of their story. But Grace was not meant to stay human. Now she is the wolf. And the wolves of Mercy Falls are about to be killed in one final, spectacular hunt.

forever.
Sam would do anything for Grace. But can one boy and one love really change a hostile, predatory world? The past, the present, and the future are about to collide in one pure moment - a moment of death or life, farewell or forever.

My Thoughts

From the first book I was invested in Sam and Grace and most especially in the plight of the wolf pack of Mercy Falls. This third book brought us pretty much full circle without actually answering for certain whether the much wanted HEA would come to pass for the couple.

Cole was a big part of this book, more so than the last one and in a much better frame of reference finally as he tended to grate a bit on me in last story.

There were more tears, more drama and of course bittersweet romance between Grace and Sam which thoroughly cemented them as a couple one wished the best for.

Not the book I hoped for but one gets the sense Grace and Sam maybe got their Forever together so at least that is something.

The thrilling conclusion to #1 bestselling Shiver trilogy from Maggie Stiefvater

I was so excited when this book finally got released. I absolutely loved the first two installments in this series and both were so emotional and heartfelt I couldn't wait to read the conclusion of the series and didn't really know what to expect. After the ending of Linger I really couldn't think of a way that Maggie could wrap up the series but she did an amazing job.

At first I really couldn't get into the book but I'm pretty sure that's because it had been so long since I'd read this series and couldn't really remember some of the things that happened. Once I had been and got Linger off my shelf and skimmed through it I started to love Forever, which I was really glad about.

This instalment is definitely the most emotional of the series and I had to wait until today to write the review because it was such an emotional rollercoaster I couldn't even think straight. I think this is definitely my favourite of the series.
As always I fell head-over-heels for Sam all over again. All the way through I just wanted to hug him and tell him that everything would be alright. I thought the characters really grew in this book and I loved Cole.
I love how from Linger to Forever Cole has changed so much, he went from bad boy who didn't really care about anything especially whether he lived or died to seeing the love between Sam and Grace and doing everything in his power to find a cure so that they could be together.

One of this things I love about this series is that you sort of have two love stories going on. You have the main love story that started in Shiver between Grace and Sam but then in Linger we were given the perspective of Isabelle and Cole and how they start to feel about each other.

To be honest, I really wasn't looking forward to reading the ending, I really wanted a great ending and had heard from others that the didn't like the ending and that they were disappointed with it. For me this wasn't the case at all. I loved the ending.
A lot of endings of series are completely set in stone, this is the end, this is what happened no questions asked. I loved that the ending of Forever was open and that it hinted what was going to happen and the reader was left to make their own interpretation of that. I have no doubts in my mind that people will have different interpretations and have a different perspective of what happened and that's what I love about it.
To me it was the perfect ending to Sam and Grace's story and I was very happy with the ending.

However I feel like there is so much more of a story there for Isabelle and Cole, I was a little disappointed with their ending but it wasn't their story. I would love to read more about them. What happened to them both after Sam and Grace's ending? Even if it was just a single book to tie up their ends and not a full series I would love it.

Overall, I loved this book, definitely my favourite in the series and this is a series I will read over and over again.
I can't wait to read Maggie's other books, she is definitely one of my favourite authors and I praise her for her amazing story and amazing wrap up.
