Great Story and Characters
Red Carpet Christmas (Club Undercover) - Patricia Rosemoor

The Chicago philanthropic Club is different from other organizations as it pays the vendors, that way money can’t be redirected away from the approved project. Simone told the reporter and pointed out the leader of the organization. The reporter to talk to her. This year the request for this auction items was give something you love to charity. The party was just beginning but already the main floor of the club was filled with Chicago’s rich and famous - those who could afford the three hundred dollar- a- person entry. It had been months since her husband david had died in an accident deemed to be a tragic accident. He had been a criminal lawyer. She was alone, the worries and questions resurfaced for Simone. As there had been black paint from another car on David’s car. Simone couldn’t believe fate would have taken away her best friend and the best father a woman could wish for her son. Maybe she felt guilty because she didn’t love him romantically like he had wanted her to. She had that once, but that had been another lifetime ago. Cass came over and told Simone she was the club hostess and asked if there was anything she could do for her. Simone said she was fine. Cass introduced herself and Simone said her name and public relations. Simone asked cass wasn’t  she the one who got the owner to let their fund raiser be held at the club. Cass said once Gideon heard it was planned to support the Umbrella House which was a shelter for abused women and their children. Simone came down the stairs and she got dizzy when she realized who was the owner of the club. Than Gideon saw her and realized that it was Simone, the one woman he’d thought was out of his life forever. He couldn’t stop staring at Simone. She could destroy everything he’d worked for, she could destroy him. All she had to do was tell her brother Mob Boss Michael DeNali that he had returned to Chicago. Michael had sworn to kill him before he disappeared several lifetimes ago. But he wasn’t running anymore, not ever again. Simone hurried through the club to find michael and head him off before he came face-to -face to the owner of the club . Joe Rusetti who called himself now. Drew was Simone’s sixteen year old son and wasn’t over David’s death and was looking more and more to Michael for guidance. Gideon was aware of the curiosity he inspired in team Underground. They knew nothing about his past, part of his past had just caught up to him. Team Underground had worked together several times now to help people out of dire straits. When the desperate had nowhere else to turn, they could turn to him and his associates. That was why he had agreed to the charity event being in his club. Giving aid to abused women and their children fit right in with the team’s mission. Maybe it was time to let the team know his true identity. Than her husband’s law partner was murdered. He had just shoved Simone a couple of times and she threatened him and then walked away and went to the ladies room. One of the wealthy women -Nikki Abright- said Simone had killed Al. Gideon got her through the crowd and to his office to wait for the police. Her father had been convicted of murdering Gideon’s father. Gideon had many identities in the last seventeen years but he never forgot he was really Joseph Ruscetti only son of mobster Frank Ruscetti who’d been gunned down by Simone’s father who was his rival. He had witnessed his father’s murder and held his father as he died.  His testimony had put Simone’s father in prison and she had refused to see or talk to him. He had broken Simone’s heart. Gideon’s mother and younger sister Angela had been put in the witness protection program and had new identities and lived far from Chicago. At age eighteen Gideon had taken off alone. Drew- Simone’s son - was a lot like David but biologically Gideon’s son. Gideon met Simone at the zoo, he wanted to help her.

Great book and I loved it. I loved the intrigue, mystery. suspense, and action.  I felt bad for Simone that her brother was the one gideon had seen and all she had been through. I read this in one setting i couldn’t put it down. I advise you to read the other books in this series for a smoother read. Even though somewhat twisted in some cases I loved the value of family shown, and love for family. I loved the characters and the ins and outs in this book and I highly recommend it.

4 Star Red Carpet Christmas
Red Carpet Christmas (Club Undercover) - Patricia Rosemoor

He hasn’t seen recent widow Simone Burke for nearly two decades – since he testified to put her father in prison, but suddenly she needs his help - and Team Undercover – to prove she is innocent of a yuletide murder. Working with Gideon could reignite the past and a forbidden passion that still burns between them, but she can’t let him discover the secret she’s kept hidden all these years.

This ‘Club Undercover’ story is chock full of gripping emotions, thrilling suspense and some scorching passion. The characters are strong, compelling and easily draw readers into their story and the chemistry between Gideon and Simone singes the pages with its sizzling heat, but the relationship between will takes some serious work as they have a past that is full of some emotional land minds that could blow at any moment.

The plots is fast paced with lots of thrilling suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement building throughout as Gideon and Simone work together to discover the true murderer before Simone finds herself behind bars. But the situation is quite complex with lots of twists and turns with more deaths along the way and Simone looking guiltier with every move she makes. Readers can’t help but become completely caught up in all the intrigue, betrayals and a conclusion that readers don’t see coming.

Great Story and Characters
Rescuing The Virgin (The McKenna Legacy) - Patricia Rosemoor

When it comes to love, his grandmother’s legacy hasn’t worked for Quinlan McKenna Farrell as it has for his siblings and cousins. Working as an ICE agent shows him the darker side of human nature. He’s haunted by his failure to bring down a human trafficking ring in Texas. Then he meets Luz Delgado, sold to Quin as a virgin. He soon learns she’s an American in desperate straits, needing to be free of the ring and to save her brother. As she gets to know Quin, she realizes he can not only read people but communicate with animals that give him their trust—both abilities inherited from his grandmother. Quin tries to protect Luz, but she’s determined to help him bring down the human trafficking operation. And when she goes missing, a panicked Quin realizes Luz is his grandmother’s love legacy for him.

This was a pretty good book. I’ve read a number of this author’s paranormal books and loved each of them. I was glad that her (primarily) contemporary didn’t disappoint as has happened with other authors. I really liked Quin and Luz as Quin works to unravel everything. I highly recommend.

Great Story and Characters
Animal Attraction - Patricia Rosemoor

Detective Ethan Grainger gave his new partner a distinctive stare. Isabelle was his new partner after losing the best partner he ever had- Shade. Ethan recognized the murdered victim- Alderman DeAndre Booker.from the West side, Ethan wondered what Booker was doing so far from home. The man wasn’t dressed for a  night out at one of the clubs. Booker was also elected Vice Mayor by the city council. Booker had spent the last couple years working on getting jobs for inter city kids instead of them turning to gangs. Ethan was anxious to leave so that he could find Luc and get the man’s thoughts on the new but familiar murder. Ethan took some photos at the scene . especially of the body, of the dead mans face and ripped out throat. Than he pulled out his notebook and took notes. He got everything he could from the forensic findings, everything the officers on duty had gathered from the crowd or the other side of the crime scene tapes. Isabelle said she would call the Lakeside Zoo and see if any wolves or big animals were missing. Coyotes were not the only thing that worked for Cezar Lazare he had plenty of big cats including his family which were panther shifters. No one in Chicago PD new about the Kindred which were animal shifters. Or the true nature of their casino. Not unless you were invited to the lower deck where you could lose your soul to Lazare. The lower deck was cloaked by magic to the unsuspecting . As much as he hated the Ark he needed to go. Lazare did influence local politicians. Ethan had been avoiding shape shifting Kindred. Avoiding direct contact with Lazare’s daughter who had been Shade’s woman and was carrying Shade’s child now. Despite his vow to Shade he would make sure she and the baby were alright but Nuala blamed Ethan for Shades death. Ethan would like to forget her kind. Yet Ethan found himself attracted to Nuala. He’d checked on her through Shade;s twin Skye. Luc was Nuala’s half brother. Luc had help find the monster who had killed Shade as he was protecting Luc’s mom Elizabeth who had raised Luc human. There were shifter fights still going on even after Lazarre had promised Skye he would stop them? Skye was all about stopping the fights and taking care of the injured animals. Nuala time with Shade had been life altering . He’d shown her there was a different way to live. Ethan loved Shade like a brother. Him being murdered like Ethan’s real brother a decade ago losing SHade the same way had torn open wounds that never healed. Ethan had unresolved and highly inappropriate feelings for Nuala. Luc was the head of security for The Ark. Luc said he would put out feelers for anyone who had a problem with Alderman Booker. Ethan didn’t like Kindred or the operation at The Ark. Ethan’s failure to find his brother Mike’s killer still haunts him ten years later. Nuala decided to to move to Shade’s apartment after talking with Ethan about a different way of Maeve being raised and in a different place. Shade had been killed when he went to Elizabeth  to ask some questions- Luc’s mom- and is killed saving her life. Nuala was very attracted to Ethan and when he kissed her she kissed him back during that kiss he ingested some of Nuala’s blood and could w hear Kindred’s thoughts. Than when he pulled back Nuala hit him.

I loved this book What a different take on shifters giving up their souls and taking human souls. But I do like the old shifter books but till loved this one as it was a great story. I loved how Nic was basically surly and quiet but he loved his sister Nuala and would do anything to keep her safe. I loved Nuala and Ethan together and how they interacted together. I also loved how Cezar was the loving parent this time and the mother could basically care less about her children and was all about hre things/ That was a change. I loved the pace and plot of this book.  I loved Ethan was willing to do anything to save Nuala and Maeve. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend it.

Release Week Review! In Name Only (The McKenna Legacy #8) Patricia Rosemoor!
In Name Only - Patricia Rosemoor

Myth has it that Caillech lives in the cabochons of her jewels and takes revenge on anyone who wears what is hers—the reason the owner hired jewelry designer Flanna McKenna to make copies. Even so, the woman was murdered and the jewels disappeared. Michael Eagan is hired to catch a thief—possibly Flanna herself if her late client’s son is believed. Flanna agrees to Michael’s idea of a mock marriage as they set out to seek a Traveler who may be the real thief. What starts as an arrangement soon turns into something hotter, but Flanna knows finding the jewels before Beltane is critical, for if any woman wears the jewels on that magic night, Caillech will free herself and return to corporeal form with the power of the sorceress...

In Name Only” is a delightfully mysterious addition to “The McKenna Legacy” series that pulls readers in and refuses to let go.

Flanna McKenna’s client has been murdered and the cursed jewelry has been stolen and some are blaming Flanna for the theft but with time running out, Flanna joins forces with Michael Eagan, a PI hired to catch the jewel thief, in order to catch the real thief and stop an evil sorceress from reawakening.

These two strong, bewitching characters easily draw readers into their story as their arrangement gets hotter but the relationship stays on a rocky slope with lots of emotional turmoil due to secrets, legacies, curses and pressure as they run out of time to catch the thief. Michael and Flanna’s romance may be rocky, but the sizzling attraction burns hotter with every turn on of the page.

Suspense and spine chilling mystery keeps readers hanging on the edge of their seat throughout this fast paced plot full of intrigue, betrayals and a bit of the paranormal with curses and a sorceress trying to rise through cursed jewelry. The readers can’t help but become caught up in the chase as Michael and Flanna pretend to be married while looking for thief especially as the author paints such vivid imagery with her well written scenes that readers can easily picture the scenery and feel the atmosphere of the story.

The McKenna Legacy” series is a wonderful variety of stories as each one presents readers with passionate romances and wonderful characters with each story having its own unique elements but centered on a magical legacy that adds a bit of wonder and flair to the story.

Excerpt:
“Flanna McKenna, wait a moment.”
Pulse thudding, she stopped and demanded, “And what is it you would be wanting?”
“To talk. About your work for Bridget Rafferty.”
“Unless you represent the authorities, which I doubt with that accent—” he was obviously an American “—I have nothing to say to you.” How would a complete stranger from another land know about her work?
“Michael Eagan, Beacon Hill Investigations.” He flipped open his identification. “It seems your Mrs. Rafferty was the third murder connected to the theft of antique Celtic jewelry in the last month, the first having been in Boston.”
“The third?” Flanna’s mind whirled. “Of course, the other pieces…”
“So you do know something about the murders.”
The way he said it put up Flanna’s back. Another person who thought she was guilty of something? Though she wanted in the worst way to tell him to leave, she couldn’t do it just yet, not until she got the details. She’d not only experienced bad vibes from the pieces she’d replicated, but she’d also had visions of several historical deaths connected to the collection, as well.
She hesitated too long. The front door flew open and there was her mother coming at them, pushing the silver-streaked dark hair from her still pretty face, which was lit by a big welcoming smile.
“You didn’t say a thing about bringing a date, Flanna,” Delia McKenna said, giving her daughter a hug and kiss on the cheek. “And isn’t he a handsome boyo.”
“Ma, please—”
Michael smiled in return and a dimple popped in his right cheek. “Why, thank you, Mrs. McKenna.”
“An American, is it?”
“Irish-American. Michael Eagan. I can see where your daughter gets her beauty.”
Flanna gaped as the private investigator turned on the charm and took her mother’s hand. Her mother actually giggled.
“We’ll be so pleased to have you as our guest.”
“Give us a minute,” Flanna said, biting the inside of her cheek when her mother raised her eyebrows and smiled before retreating to the house. She counted silently to three, then faced Michael. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Trying to be pleasant to your mother.”
“Now she thinks you and I are—are—”
“Lovers?”
“I was going to say together!”
“You have a problem with intimacy?” One dark eyebrow shot up in challenge.
“I have a problem with you. Perhaps you should leave now and we can meet back in town later.”
“You realize if I don’t come inside with you, you’ll have to explain why.”
He had a point.
