Still haunted by his wife’s murder—and stained by the blood of avenging it—FBI special agent Hatcher McGee can’t believe he’s being teamed up with rookie agent Korine Davenport. She is his most guilty secret—the one-night stand who almost cost him everything.

Korine has her own demons. As a child, she witnessed her father’s murder, and she’s spent her life waiting for the killer’s return. She and Hatcher are both looking for closure, but the disturbing case that draws them together could be their last.

When the mutilated body of a corrupt Savannah judge surfaces, Hatcher and Korine find themselves on the trail of a vigilante who is showing no mercy. Not for the predators who’ve gone free. And not for anyone who gets in the way.

As the body count rises, and as Hatcher’s and Korine’s own pasts unfold, they must risk their lives tracking a killer they’ve come to understand all too well. After all, the ends justify the means.

*** REVIEW ***

Pretty Little Killers is in a most part a police procedural novel just with a bit of steamy romance. It's full of unexpected twists and turns that make it hard to figure out who is the real killer.

For a Romantic Suspense genre, it lacked the actual "romance". Characters seemed more suffering from lust and wanting to hop into bed than developing some real feelings.

Both main characters have an interesting and complex backstories that meshed with the overall story. The setting goes hand in hand with the plot and is the superb  backdrop to a thrilling crime novel.

Good Little Girls - Rita Herron

This was a different kind of book for me and a new author.

A story where Wyatt (the cop) finds Tinsley after she had been abducted and held prisoner by someone named "Skull". Wyatt is able to get Tinsley away, however, Skull is not to be found.

The book definitely held my attention and had me ripping through those pages hoping that Tinsley gets over her fear of "Skull" and that Skull is not able to find her and abduct her again.

The book pretty much kept me riveted and mesmerized until near the end. I definitely could have done without the bedroom scene. I mean, it's a thriller, and I have to sit through pages of bedroom behavior because the characters want to screw? There is no sexual action (other than the deviant sexual action going on while Tinsley was abducted) until the very end. Definitely put in there to appease someone. However, that someone is not me. Could have definitely done without the 20 or so pages of the bedroom scenes.

Thanks to Montlake Romance, Lake Union Publishing and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Good Little Girls - Rita Herron

This is the story of Tinsley and the Skull.   The Skull kidnapped Tinsley leaving her with panic attacks and unable to leave her cottage on the beach.     The anniversary of her kidnapping is approaching and the Skull wants her back.

I love that the detective that saved her in the first book is still around and still protecting her.     With each panic attack, he comes to her rescue and never makes her feel bad about it.   He respects her boundaries, he holds her when she needs it and listens to her talk.     There was a simmering attraction between them that intrigued me.  I was definitely cheering for them to come together or at least spend more time together.

While the story focuses on Tinsley, the secondary characters got storylines also.   Their stories were just as suspenseful as the main story and I am hoping that there could be more of them in future books in this series.

Rita Herron has made The Keepers a MUST-READ series for me.     I recommend starting with book one and just keep on reading.

Release Day Review! Good Little Girls (The Keepers #2) Rita Herron!
Good Little Girls - Rita Herron

Fear becomes a woman’s greatest weapon in a heart-pounding novel of suspense from the USA Today bestselling author of Pretty Little Killers.

Tinsley Jensen survived the torturous clutches of an elusive masked killer dubbed the Skull, only to be held hostage by her nightmares. She’s terrified of leaving her cottage on Seahawk Island, knowing that the madman is still out there. FBI special agent Wyatt Camden knows it too. He may have rescued Tinsley, but her captor got away. Now he’s driven by guilt, the need for vengeance, and the desire to protect—at any cost—the woman he’s come to love.

Too paranoid to deal with the police, the media, and her sister, Tinsley finds solace in an online support group. She’s too broken to let even Wyatt into her life. But when the threats against Tinsley escalate and her friend disappears, Tinsley is forced out of her self-imposed seclusion to finally face her fears. Wyatt is the only man she can trust to help her, and to save a killer’s latest catch. Now, Wyatt just wants to finish the job he started.

But that’s all the Skull wants too.

Good Little Girls is the second book in The Keepers series and wraps readers up in page turning and adrenaline pumping suspense.

The characters in this novel are strong and very compelling, they easily capture readers’ attention and draw them into their life, especially the heroine of the story, Tinsley, whom has been broken by a tortuous ordeal and readers can’t help but empathize with Tinsley and sympathize with all the rioting emotional turmoil that plagues her in the aftermath of that ordeal. Wyatt adds the understanding and protective hero to the story and the romance is on the sweet side as he discovers that he has feeling for Tinsley.

Thrills and intrigue lock readers in and refuse to let go as the mysterious Keepers and the Skull turn everyone’s life upside down once again. The plot flows smoothly with a steady and fast pace that draws readers along with all the suspense building events and clues to unmasking the bad guys. But this story also has another element, one that has readers questioning which side would they take if they were the ones involved in the heart wrenching and soul destroying situations. This story is a thriller and therefore readers should be prepared for all the emotional turmoil that this story could evoke and all the violence and implied rape that this story covers.

I haven’t read Pretty Little Killers, yet, (I will definitely have to read it now) but I had no trouble enjoying this story. The author does a great job of giving readers information about the first book without giving too much away, so that readers can understand what is going on and how the readers reached this point. I was kept on the edge of my seat and even found myself holding my breath and quite a few points in the story.

USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author Rita Herron fell in love with books at the ripe age of eight when she read her first Trixie Belden mystery. Although she wanted to be a writer then and actually scrawled her first novel at age twelve, she didn’t think real people grew up to be writers, so she became a kindergarten teacher instead. Ten years ago, she traded her classroom storytelling and puppets for a computer and now writes so she doesn’t have to get a real job.
Having sold over fifty books to date, she enjoys spinning spine-tingling romantic suspense tales filled with murder, mayhem, and spicy romance as well as sexy romantic comedies. Rita Herron currently writes romantic suspense for Harlequin Intrigue and she’s writing dark, gritty romantic suspense thrillers for Amazon Montlake.

good book and characters
Pretty Little Killers - Rita Herron

Five year old Korine wrapped her arms around her daddy’s neck. Korine got to dance on her daddy’s feet. She got a music box and a porcelain doll who Korine decided to name Ruby.  Korine was daddy’s special girl. Then daddy was shot and Korine watched him die. Before joining the FBI Korine worked as a cop in the sex crimes unit. Korine related to the to the victim and understood their desire to have justice. Korine has several family issues as her mother is severely depressed and her brother has drug problems.  Korine is now an rookie agent for the FBI. and had been teamed with FBI special agent Hatcher McGee. Korine had waited her life for the killer to return. Korine and Hatcher had a one night stand and then she never heard from him. Korine and Hatcher are still attracted to each other.   Now Hatcher and Korine are to solve a murder of a corrupt judge. It seems it might be a vigilante killer on the loose. Hatch had spent the last couple of months getting over his wife’s murder and him killing the man who had done it.  After Hatcher’s wife was murdered -even though he was asking for a divorce she was still his wife- Hatch took some time off and used alcohol to try to forget his guilt that he couldn’t get to his wife in time to save her. Hatcher is seeing her ghost everywhere. Hatcher and Korine are trying to ignore their attraction.

I really enjoyed this book. I also liked the pace and the plot. I loved that I didn’t know who the killer was until the end and it was a surprise. I choked up at times I liked how the killer tied the predators death to their crimes. I think there were too many POV’s in this book one of the few things I didn’t like in this book. There really wasn’t romance but lust in this but that was ok. I loved the twists and turns of this book. This book has: serial killers, rape, child molesters, corrupt officials, FBI, and sp much more. This was pretty dark at times but with this type of story it fit. I liked the characters and the twists and turns of this story and I recommend.
