Quit by Viola Grace Quit (Terran Times Second Wave, #36) by Viola Grace Review
Quit (Terran Times Second Wave Book 36) - Viola Grace

When Minny’s life changes, a career as a recruiter isn’t half as tempting as the new ambassador to Earth.

Minerva has been acting as Recruiter Norz for years. Her mind can split into eight different directions and propel the bot bodies in areas where the alien might be in danger.

When her daughter was taken from her too soon, she had to split her off time between taking care of herself and monitoring her child growing in the tank. In the battle between her and her child, she was losing herself.

Imbolt has been on his way to Terra for some time. His genetic match had produced a daughter, and five months from now, she would be out in the world. Unfortunately, the woman he had been matched with would not make it if he didn’t take matters into his hands and out of hers.

This is a very good ending to a very long series.

The series is an interesting one in that the enjoyment of the books is a cumulative one. Each short story is rather underdeveloped but as the books grow and grow the narrative becomes rich and engrossing.

The series is an expensive habit though. I try to borrow as well as purchase the books because the cost per book length is often not well balanced. However, I like supporting a writer's livelihood and knowing that the price off the books allows her to write.

A few books in this long running series feel route and like a money making machine rather than fiction which also makes money.

This book is not one of those. We get a full fleshed love story that explores grief and leaning into each other.

This is a very good way to close out this world of which the author was clearly weary but this book doesn't show it.

Mandate (Terran Times Second Wave Book 12) ... Viola Grace Review
Mandate (Terran Times Second Wave Book 12) - Viola Grace

Wren takes care of those around her, but will a bunch of Guardians be more than she can keep in fighting shape?

Wren has been a caretaker for all her adult life. The offer to take up a new life in the stars comes as part of her career comes to a sad end.

They ask her to change her DNA, she does. They ask her to engage in combat training, she does. They ask her to channel the new talent that roars through her bloodstream, she focuses. If they had asked her if she was willing to mate with a stranger, she would have considered it.

Drovin has been waiting for the day when his mate would arrive on his world. He knows what she looks like and who she is, but her personality is a mystery. Binding them together before she arrived was his idea, but it might have been an incorrect impulse when she can find all of his weaknesses in an instant.

Wren is a wonderful heroine who we get to see come into her own during this story. The fated mate romance is an interesting one and the world building is well done.

On her first day, Polly shows that she is competent in battle and able to think on her feet, but when she is exposed to experimental nanites, her entire life takes a sudden shift, and what she sees isn’t necessarily what is in front of her.

Loesh wants a Terran mate for the potential to have a family and a woman who can match him skill for skill. Polly’s skills are already developed, and her attraction to him is obvious. Screwing it up should be difficult, so why does it come so easily.

Negative (Terran Times Second Wave, #19) by Viola Grace Review
Negative (Terran Times Second Wave Book 19) - Viola Grace

hanged by an injury, Aster starts a new life as a bodyguard and finds herself falling for war, death and sex.

Aster’s assignment as a bodyguard suits her temperament. She likes to boss folks around while keeping them where they are supposed to be. A fan of order, she enjoys her position away from Earth on a world where her services can be of use.

Dressed up like a doll for a costume party, she finds that fighting is part of the local community tradition and calling upon an ancient god is also traditional. She just never expected him to answer.

Yodin is an immortal who has been looking for another of his kind. Aster has only recently shed her previous life and entered the endless lifespan that he currently enjoys, but he intends to introduce her to the pleasure of an eternity with the god of war, death and sex.

The heroine is kickass and bossy. The plot goes a little weird when gods come into play but its a nice quick science fiction romance read overall.

Knell (Terran Times Second Wave Book 5) - Viola Grace

Hearing the future isn’t as useless as Dot thinks, but she finds herself in the arms of a Guardian who wants her here and now.

Dot has spent nearly half her life in a private home for those who have trouble with reality. Finding out that her talent for hearing the future is actually useful, she agrees to leave her residence to find a place that she has dreamed of. A world where her talent can be put to use.

Loxin has dreamed of the woman his matchmaker told him about but finding her applying to be an Oracle on his base surprises him. No one told him the woman he was destined for could sense the future, but then, no one outside his family and the destiny painter on Yacaro had known about her.

Together, they will fulfill each other’s needs and protect a world constantly under siege…with a little help from the other Guardians.
