Mission Hindenburg
Mission Hindenburg - C. Alexander London Mission Hindenburg - C. Alexander London Cover: Shocking!
Rating 3 Stars
Overall: Not the Best
Characters: Cliche and Stereotyped
Plot: It was OK
Page Turner: Eh, yeah
Series Cont.? Yes
Recommend Maybe?

Short Review
This one was a let down after the first. There was a lot of Cliche and Stereotyped behaviors from all the main characters. They seemed to all be...off? I gave it three start because it does the job of getting the reader from book 1 to book 3, but it's in no way the best book in the series. I didn't hate it, but I don't plan to reread it either.

The Wild Ones by C. Alexander London
The Wild Ones - C. Alexander London

I adore this book! I've read London's Proxy and Guardian books a while back and absolutely loved them! However, I haven't read any of his middle-grade books... until now, that is.

This book follows a young raccoon named Kit and trying to bring peace to a turf war using an "ancient artifact." Yes, it is that epic! I love London's stories and his characters. Each character in this book is memorable in the kindness, their cunning, their cheating ways. Also, London included a gay couple in this book and just made me so happy to see such diversity in a middle-grade novel. Especially a middle-grade novel about animals!

The writing is incredible and promotes the idea of getting yourself an education. Because no matter who you are or where you came from, everyone deserves to be educated.

I love this book and if you love adventure stories with the focus being on animals that does NOT talk down to children, then I highly recommend this book! It's a lot of fun with a lot of intelligent ideas!

We Are Not Eaten by Yaks (Accidental Adventure Series)
We Are Not Eaten by Yaks - C. Alexander London 6/16/12 ** I wasn't impressed. I suppose, I have to say off the bat that I don't like the notion of glorifying TV shows, even though I know that's a spoof. Second, much of the book consists of telling me what's going on, not showing me. The book could have been much shorter and more exciting if the drama and adventure had been conveyed through action, not description.

That being said, I'm guessing that there will be some kids who enjoy the wise-cracks and outlandish things that happen to the kids while they try to save their mother and find the lost library of Alexandria (or whatever she was searching for - I've already taken the book back to school and can't refresh my memory.)

We Are Not Eaten by Yaks (Accidental Adventure Series)
We Are Not Eaten by Yaks - C. Alexander London

This book is exactly what it looks like.

The timeline is out of whack, though, and the twins don't sleep for 2-5 days (depending on whether you count what's described or what's stated), which doesn't slow them down. /nitpick

I did love the personalities and interactions between Oliver and Celia and the adults in their life.
