Dark Celebrations by Calvin Demmer @CalvinDemmer
Dark Celebrations - Calvin Demmer

I have read some of Calvin Demmer’s stories and Dark Celebrations is an anthology that may make you want to party…or not.

Dark Celebrations

Amazon / Goodreads

MY REVIEW

Dark Celebrations is not my first foray into Calvin Demmer’s world and I look forward to going wherever he wants to take me in this collection of stories.

I was going to review each story separately, but with Covid -19 around and being cooped up for six weeks now, I find my motivation running a bit empty. So…

I enjoyed all the stories and spending time in the world of horror and the supernatural. Calvin Demmer is skilled at crafting tales that give me the creepy crawlies, making me glad that it is fiction.

Wantta party? The door is open. Come on in. But, lock the doors and turn on the lights.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dark Celebrations by Calvin Demmer.

The Complete Calvin and Hobbes - Bill Watterson
The Complete Calvin and Hobbes - Bill Watterson

Because of complicated travel reasons, we had our Christmas yesterday. And because the Offspring are grown-ups, there was no one interested in starting the day early. but I have to set my alarm for the same time everyday in order to ever be able to go to sleep at the right time, let alone wake up appropriately for work. So I was up for a couple of hours before anyone else stirred. So I finished the first volume (27 Dec 2019 - I'll change the Read date with each successive volume)

I have no interest in over-examining the appeal of this comic. Watterson got it all just right. My personal favorites will always be the ones with snowmen. My personal favorites will always be the ones with snowmen.

MY REVIEW

Sylvia was searching for a good story to kick off her journalism career and almost immediately I thought I knew how the story would go…but not quite. Calvin Demmer wasn’t going to make it quite that easy for me.

Suicide Bridge…36 cases. Why had she never heard of it before?

I can guess. There’s something going on and everyone in town wants to keep it a secret.

Suitably creepy for an easy reading short story.

Review on The Revenge of The Baby-Sat
Calvin and Hobbes: The Revenge of the Baby-Sat - Bill Watterson

This book is part of a collection.

This book is very good and I loved it.

I have read it, like, 3 times and will read it more.

It's a fast read and its easy to read.

It's a comic book that is humorous.

Wish I owned all of them.

5/5 stars.

Reading progress update: I've read 157 out of 159 pages.
The Queen of Ieflaria (Tales of Inthya #1) - Effie Calvin

This is the true last page - the rest is author info and other stuff.

Aww, this was sweet. But there are some annoying unresolved threads. Yes, I know this is part of a series, but the second book has different main characters and several of the unresolved threads I'm thinking of really should have been dealt with in this book, with this couple. So that's going to bring the rating down a bit. Also, it turns out the dragons were pretty important, and yet they didn't have an on-page appearance until about the last 40 pages. This really should have been a longer work.

Ooh, you know what this means? I get to roll the dice again! YAY.
