The story takes place at a steady pace that keeps reader thoroughly engaged from the very beginning with suspense and the drama of a divided town, divided family and some downright ugly people that should really mind their own business. The author has a gift for getting real and own to the nitty gritty of a situation that readers can easily identify and relate to. So, once again, Petal, Georgia has it going on and the Chases are front and center as they adopt Royal and Caroline into their ever growing family and the hero and heroine overcome adversity and reach for their happily ever after in this heartwarming emotionally gripping romance.

There’s no getting around the fact that readers love a good love story and this is just such a book. Matt and Tate are both strong, appealing characters that readers easily fall in love with as they both have their vulnerabilities that make them insecure but human which also adds realism to the story. The romance is sweet but full of emotional turmoil while the passion is hot and heats up the pages with lots of sizzling chemistry.

The plot is set a steady pace and flows smoothly throughout this romance with lots of intriguing and sensitive events that tug at reader’s hearts and really make it easy to connect with the characters as they struggle with their issues and to overcome the town’s opinion that these two don’t belong together in anyway. The small town atmosphere adds ambiance and more intensity to the story and readers get quite a few chuckles throughout the story as the town’s matriarch does her best to help the couple along the way and other family members cause some strife but also contribute to the couple’s relationship which also adds to the convincing feel of the story. The entire series is one that readers can’t help but be charmed by and of course the Chase brothers are sexy and easily fell in love with, and Matt and Tate’s romance is probably the most heartfelt one of the series.

Shane and Cassie are two very strong and captivating characters whose romance is anything but smooth, there is lot of ups and downs due to past issues and miscommunication that the story is a kind of emotional rollercoaster.  Readers can help but become caught up in their story as Shane works hard to overcome his own issues and find a way to help Cassie overcome hers and let me tell you this story tugs at heartstrings and actually had me crying at a couple of points, which I must say is unusual for me. But since, Lauren Dane creates characters that are easily connected to, I shouldn’t be surprised that I had such a connection to Shane and Cassie.

And if their emotional issues weren’t enough to keep readers enthralled, this story has readers holding their breath in suspense when Cassie’s past comes calling and placing her in danger when adds quite an exciting edge to this romance.  Lauren Dane makes it easy to picture each and every scene as it happens which just makes the connection with the characters that much more vivid.

I have to tell you Shane caught my attention in the first book, Giving Chase, when he made a bit of a jerk of himself so I highly anticipating the release of Taking Chase to find out how he fared when came to matters of his heart and I was in no way disappointed as I was completely enthralled with his and Cassie’s book from start to finish, now I just have to wait for Chased and find out which brother will fall next.
