Reading progress update: I've read 106 out of 201 pages.
Reaper Man - Terry Pratchett

This is the second book in the Discworld Death series and I have to say I think it's the better of the two I've read so far. I find the characters a bit more connectable, a bit more real in this one than Mort. I also find that the flow of this book works better for me.

However, the story isn't quite grabbing me even though the idea is quite exciting and interesting. I'm not really sure why. I do like it and I want to see what happens but I'm glad this doesn't seem to be a long book.

Death trying to be a human and failing continues to be funny and so very sad at the same time. Windle Poons grew on me quickly as well as Modo and of course the Death of Rats. I've heard about the latter enough from Pratchett fans. I didn't realize how he came into being.

Reaper Man Buddy read
Reaper Man - Terry Pratchett

Reflections and I are going to be buddy reading Terry Pratchert's Reaper Man starting today. Anybody who wants to join us for this is welcome. We'll be commenting back and forth either here or on reading updates.

Sorry this his is going up late but I've been sick all week and haven't been able to do much beyond sleep and stare at the TV. Hoping whatever it was has let me go finally.

Reaper Man - Terry Pratchett

With the news of Sir Terry Pratchett's death, Reflections and I have decided to set up a buddy read for the next book in the Death novels series. The book will be Reaper Man and right now I'm thinking of a start date some time next week, probably Friday. If anyone is interested, you are more than welcome!

Mort (Discworld Series # 4/ Death Series # 1)
Mort - Terry Pratchett

I can remember vividly the first time I read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I'd haltingly made my way through the first half of the book, putting it down and picking it back up again. As much as I enjoyed it, and I did, it just didn't seem to hold my interest. I reached a little over the halfway mark at midnight and decided to finish the chapter then call it a night.

Except the chapter ended in a cliffhanger. One more chapter turned into another as the book raced to its sad conclusion. At four in the morning, I closed the book, tears and sleep blurring my eyes. I've always likened it to a roller coaster. You inch along up and up and up. You have time to take a look around, think about the other rides (read books here) you could be on. But once you've hit the downward slope, there are no brakes.

That sums up reading Mort perfectly.

Quick note for anyone wanting to group read Mort
Mort - Terry Pratchett

Just a quick reminder to Murder by Death and Reflections as well as to anyone else who'd like to join us, we'd planned to start reading Mort in February. I've got my ebook loaded and ready to go.

Do either of you want to set a specific number of chapters or just read what you can?

Looking forward to meeting DEATH.
