ARC REVIEW Crave the Heat by Marnee Blake

Crave the Heat (The Smokejumpers #2) The Smokejumpers #2, This can be read as a standalone. The two main characters in this book have quite a bit of baggage and throw in the suspense and you have a good read. It didn't jump out and catch my attention like I hoped it would but it wasn't bad. It went along at a steady pace the suspense and action were very good the romance is what got me. Dak and Heidi's attraction was pretty much instantaneous but Heidi moved to Oregon to escape her past, her ex and all the grief that relationship caused so she's pretty hesitant to get involved with someone again especially someone who such a high risk job. Dak has family drama up the wazoo, back home for the first time after ten years and the first time he sees his father it's only because his father needs him to do something and thinks he can manipulate Dak, he's very wrong about that. The romance, it was pretty hot and heavy at times but Heidi's wishy washy, back and forth actions got old quick, after the second time you just want to smack her upside the head and say, "it's a good thing".

Dak is a smokejumper he gets roped into acting as a liaison between the reservation and the forest services. Heidi is new to the arson investigator position here and she doesn't know a lot of people when first assigned a liaison she's a bit put off but the hottie ends up really helping her by introducing her to people who could actually help her. For Dak the series of fires happening on the reservation is personal and even though he knows who might be behind this he tries to fix it himself instead of informing Heidi and the local authorities. Which in the end causes a big rift between him and Heidi.

Overall, this was a good read. I really enjoyed the climactic conclusion to the events and when Dak and Heidi were together and she wasn't running scared I liked them together.

Review - Firefighter Griffin by Zoe Chant (Fire & Rescue Shifters #3)
Firefighter Griffin: BBW Lion/Eagle Shifter Romance (Fire & Rescue Shifters Book 3) - Zoe Chant

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

This cover is another attention grabber and of course I bought it.

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content.  While you do not have to read all the books in order, you will be missing out if you don’t read them all and in order.  You will quickly fall for the whole team!

I really loved this book!  Griff is an amazing character who is easy to fall in love with, but I’ve had no trouble doing that with the whole squad.  Every story is packed and grabs your attention and doesn’t let go.  I couldn’t put the book down.  I admire Hayley and think her son Danny are the perfect duo for Griff.  You will not be disappointed with this HEA.  I can’t wait to see whose story is next!

Zoe Chant has slid into my favorites list with her witty stories that pull me right into the story and have me gripped in the characters’ lives and lovin’ each and every one of them.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to all the shifter fans who want to read about the mythic shifters who are a band of sexy firemen who will set your hearts on fire with their stories.

Good Moments.
Lover on Top: A Firefighter Romance - Kristine Cayne

This is my first Kristine Cayne and even though there were some irritating quirks overall it was a good, not-too-heavy read. I enjoyed the idea of characters discovering their true sexuality late in life and Chad is a really neat man who understands who he is. The waffling on both sides was tiresome and the pacing of the story was totally uneven. The ending was very abrupt considering how long it took for the two main characters to do anything. The mystery element was totally wasted, Chad's friends and family were very sweet and kind.

Cliff Hanger
Light My Fire: A Firefighter Romance (Big City Heat Book 1) - Misha Carver

Light My Fire by Misha Carver is a fairly quick read.  This book does end in a cliff-hanger.  Ms Carver had my attention from start right up to the cliff-hanger...at which point I wanted the throw my kindle against the wall.  In my humble opinion, unless you're writing something the length of War and Peace, you can put it all in one book.  I hate cliff-hangers.  Ms Carver had plenty of action, suspense and sizzle.  The book, what there was of it, is well written.  The characters are fantastic.  Light My Fire is book 1 of the Big City Heat Series and does end in a cliff-hanger.  Very disappointing.

I haven't read the previous books in this series which are M/F.Characters from those books do feature here but their stories are explained well and I had no problem identifying with them.
So this can definitely be read as a standalone.

Chad is a 23 year old paramedic. He's gay and is very open about his sexuality. He's been lusting after his brother Jamie's best friend,Hollywood, for years.

Hollywood is a 36 old fireman. He's straight,or at least he thinks he is.He's only been in love once in his life and when that ended tragically he's only been interested in hook ups with women.
After a fire in his apartment he finds himself with nowhere to stay so Chad offers to take him in temporarily.

These two men have not really got on very well in the past and initially they both skirt around each other.Chad is struggling with having the object of his obsession in such close proximity and Hollywood is getting more and more disturbed by his feelings for Chad.
The sexual tension builds up slowly and there's no denying these two have chemistry but at times I wanted to slap both of them.
There's misunderstanding and missed communications, and at times they both behaved like teenagers.

Along side their developing relationship there's a side story going on.
Chad has been the victim of an assault for being Gay in the past and it looks like he's a target again.I did work out pretty early on who the culprit was.

Hollywood has had a lot to put up with, mainly in the form of his Homophobic, bigoted father who was a real piece of work. He's,understandably, terrified of coming out.

The sex scenes are hot and plentiful .....
Some highly likeable,well developed,secondary characters.....especially Chad's family who I just loved.

This one didn't completely wow me but overall I found it an enjoyable M/M read.....
