Smokejumpers #1, A sweet and steamy book all in one. I'm new to Tawna Fenske and figured what better place to start that with a new series and it was a good start. I really enjoyed this one it was funny in all the right parts and romantically sweet and hot in the bedroom, but not limited to the bedroom. Best of all it had relatable characters, Grady and Willa are opposites but their spontaneous reaction to each other soon grows deeper but not without its hardships because of those differences.

Willa had a difficult childhood, her mother left and her father was an alcoholic and a gambler and more often than not they had to spend nights "out camping" because of some bill wouldn't get paid. Willa left home as soon as she could and became a successful web designer with her own company. But she's still a smart buyer, she hates spending money when she doesn't have to and when she does she's smart about it, her friends are use to her. Willa is also a planner and a hard worker and because of that she wasn't going to let anyone sidetrack her from her goal or her work hence the two-date rule.

Grady is one of ten kids, he can handle chaos. Growing up the son of a smokejumper he knew getting involved in a relationship would be difficult for his partner, he saw how it affected his parents and how hard it was on his mom for his dad to be away months at a time. He decided going into his career he wasn't going to make plans his work was dangerous enough why look forward to something if there's a chance you might not make it home. 

Willa gives Grady his first date, and then a series of non-dates; miniature golf is not a date, it's a group outing not a date, meeting his parents isn't a date and so on until one day it is the second date and then third. Willa and Grady have pretty much fallen in love and not even drama from her past can get in the way of her happiness at least until it interferes in her business. Then their differences seem insurmountable and it would take a pretty big leap for them to find their way back to each other.

Overall, it was a pretty good read. I liked all the characters and the funny situations; all the non-dates. Grady's parents are pretty awesome too. I look forward to the upcoming books in this series.

But this story has some unexpected twists that keeps the readers guessing and some additional adrenaline pumping thrills as Hunter finds various was to help him with his problem. Readers can’t tear themselves away from the pages of this heartfelt, heartwarming and suspenseful romance.

My nose has been buried in a book my entire life. My mother would catch me, flashlight in hand, hiding under the covers to “finish this chapter.” A lifelong reader herself, she’d usually sigh, mutter something about how I’d ruin my eyes reading in the dark, and then leave me to it.

After all, she often stayed up past bedtime reading, too. She couldn’t judge.

For me, books are magic, so earning a BA in English Literature from Dickinson College was a perfect fit. It wasn’t a big jump from studying literature to teaching it, and I spent a few years as a high school English teacher.

When my first son was born, I finally got serious about putting fingers to keyboard, and I haven’t looked back since.

I have been humbled to be a finalist of both RWA’s prestigious RITA® and Golden Heart® contests. My writing has been awarded the Daphne du Maurier award, the PRISM award, and the Golden Leaf award. I am represented by the amazing Helen Breitwieser at Cornerstone Literary Agency.

And my first born? I caught him recently, up way past his bedtime, trying to hide the book he’d snuck into bed. I sighed and mumbled something about how he’d ruin his eyes reading in the dark.

Then, I walked away, grinning. After all, like my mother before me, I can’t judge.

 The Smokejumpers #2, This can be read as a standalone. The two main characters in this book have quite a bit of baggage and throw in the suspense and you have a good read. It didn't jump out and catch my attention like I hoped it would but it wasn't bad. It went along at a steady pace the suspense and action were very good the romance is what got me. Dak and Heidi's attraction was pretty much instantaneous but Heidi moved to Oregon to escape her past, her ex and all the grief that relationship caused so she's pretty hesitant to get involved with someone again especially someone who such a high risk job. Dak has family drama up the wazoo, back home for the first time after ten years and the first time he sees his father it's only because his father needs him to do something and thinks he can manipulate Dak, he's very wrong about that. The romance, it was pretty hot and heavy at times but Heidi's wishy washy, back and forth actions got old quick, after the second time you just want to smack her upside the head and say, "it's a good thing".

Dak is a smokejumper he gets roped into acting as a liaison between the reservation and the forest services. Heidi is new to the arson investigator position here and she doesn't know a lot of people when first assigned a liaison she's a bit put off but the hottie ends up really helping her by introducing her to people who could actually help her. For Dak the series of fires happening on the reservation is personal and even though he knows who might be behind this he tries to fix it himself instead of informing Heidi and the local authorities. Which in the end causes a big rift between him and Heidi.

Overall, this was a good read. I really enjoyed the climactic conclusion to the events and when Dak and Heidi were together and she wasn't running scared I liked them together.

Heidi and Dak are strong, bold characters that are easily identified with and readers easily become caught up in their story. The chemistry between Heidi and Dak sizzles with lots of fiery heat and the romance burns at a slow pace that builds to combustible proportions as Heidi does her best to fight their attraction. Lots of emotional turmoil peppers this story throughout and keeps readers and characters on tender hooks as Heidi tries to overcome the trauma of her past and Dak tries to mend the broken family fences.

The plot is suspenseful and fast paced with lots of intriguing mystery that keeps readers glued to the pages with surprising twists and old secrets that add to the tension building suspense. The characters and their situation is what really makes this story and grabs readers’ by their imagination with those old secrets adding tension to the relationship and in the investigation. Once again, the author provides well written words that paints vivid imagery that captures the imagination and brings the story and the wonderful characters to life.
