Contest: Make soccer actually fun to play with a Switch copy of Golazo!

I like soccer as much as the next guy, but let’s get one thing straight – it can be downright awful to sit through. When the action is up it’s aces, but when a grown man is grabbing at his shin writhing on the pitch in fake pain after getting tapped on the shoulder, it just gets to be too much for me. The Beautiful Game turns into the embarrassing one after one or two of those incidents.Golazo! is here to make sure you have a ball while playing football again. We’ve got some Switch copies of this arcade soccer title to give away, so slide on it!

They really don’t make enough arcade sports games – especially for soccer. Luckily, Golazo! takes all the fun of soccer, removes all the tedium, and distills it down into a slide-tackley, goal-shooty arcade game that’s actually fun to play! There are power-ups. There are obtuse and dangerous slide tackles. And you know what there aren’t any of? Fouls! Run offside and foul you day away. It’s ok, it’s totally cool in this game. It’s an arcade title, remember?

Here are some game features:

Three arcade dynamic game modes: quick match, World Cup, International ranking
Ideal for Couch & Party gamers
Furious matches up to 4 players (offline multiplayer)
Who needs rules? No fouls and offsides!
Legendary players used as reference
6 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Polish
32 national teams in International Cup mode with ranking
A locker room where you can exchange your points to new kits or balls
Humor – football managers and simulators are boring. Let’s bring back fun to football!
This is my kinda game, y’all.

How To Win
To enter to win a copy, use the widget below to leave your name and email address. You can enter daily. For bonus entries, follow NE and publisher @Klabater on Twitter and share our post with your friends!

In the meantime, come up with some other sports or genres that could use more arcadey games. Get creative, folks. I’m bored and need something to ponder.

We have two Switch NA keys to give away. Winners will be drawn Tuesday, September 17.

Golazo! is available now on the Switch eShop. Head over to Destructoid for more chances to score a copy.

100% Unofficial Fortnite Pro Guide - Becker&Mayer! Books

I have read many users guide's in my time, but this one was special to me - and I will tell you why.  This guide is for Fortnite, an online game every one is playing, including myself.  I play with my kids when I have the time and this book is a big help!

There are suggestions in here that help you play the game and be able to respond faster.  It has play ideas for multiple platforms since the game can be played across so many.  I really loved the full color and "learn to be a pro" attitude.

Like any other player, I want to be the best at what I do, when I do it.  I love being able to see the "Epic" changes that every season on Fortnite seems to bring.  I also like being able to collect the "Skins" that make me as a player - look even more intimidating.  Since that is the fun of the game.

This guide was a great help full of many good ideas and suggestions.  I recommend you read it before your next Battle Royale.  I give this book a 5/5 Kitty's Book Spot!

***This ARC was given in exchange for an honest review by Netgalley and its publishers.

Baseball Geek Group: Jimm Hendren, Gameplay

At the start of every game (half-inning), the fielding team’s 9 players will go on their designated positions — four of them infielders, three as outfielders, one as the catcher and one pitcher. The pitcher’s mound located on the center of the field will throw (pitch) the ball toward the home plate where the batter (of the opposing team), the fielding team’s catcher and a neutral umpire are positioned. The batter then tries to hit the ball in order to score a run while the catcher is there to catch the ball if it is not hit (strike). Three strikes count for a strikeout and the batting team then has to replace the batter with another in their lineup. However, if the batter succeeds in hitting the ball, he will then have to run to the first base (and he will be referred to now as the runner or batter-runner) before any of the fielding team puts him out or catches the ball. Once the runner reached the first base safely he will be credited with a hit. (In uncommon situations where the runner reaches second/third base safely for one hit, it is called a double/triple play.)

Any runners on base could try to advance on the next base on batted balls or while the pitcher is in the process of pitching the ball (a rare occurrence called stolen base).

The goal of the runner is to reach the fourth base or the home plate (thereby passing all the bases) in order to score a ‘run’. After 9 innings, the team with the most number of runs wins. In the event of a draw, extra innings will be added.
