NOT A MARRYING MAN by Dixie Browning
Not a Marrying Man - Dixie Browning

A child is dumped on Mac and he sets out to find the mother only to learn he has got the wrong woman. Now they are stuck on an island during a storm and have to wait for transportation to get back to the mainland so Mac can track down the right woman. Of course, the problem is he has fallen for Banner and little Ellie. What is a man to do?

I enjoyed this story. Mac is curmudgeonly. Banner is reserved. They are an interesting combination. Add in Ellie and her muteness and an unusual bond is created between the three which I hoped would become more. Fortunately all worked out in the end and I got what I wanted.

I always enjoy Dixie Browning's stories.

FATE TAKES A HOLIDAY by Dixie Browning
Fate Takes A Holiday - Dixie Browning

Fate is being auctioned off as a bachelor and he has his secretary agree to be the highest bidder. Now they have to go through with weekend.

I enjoyed this. I laughed and smiled through the whole book. I love when both points-of-view are shown. It is fun to know what each is thinking about the other. It was also sweet as Fate tries to figure out how Sophie got under his skin. I also liked how Sophie learns she is not what her ex-husband told her. Fate and Sophie are made for each other.

A SECRET VALENTINE by Dixie Browning
A Secret Valentine (Silhouette Romance #203) - Dixie Browning

Grace has sworn off men. Quinn thinks she is interested in him. They clash from the beginning to the end but love shows the way.

I enjoyed this book. I figured out the misunderstanding and enjoyed watching them figure it out. I liked how Grace showed her independence from her family. What a bunch they were! I also liked the strength that Grace had. To make the changes she did and to forge a place for herself. I liked Quinn and his protectiveness when he realized what led to their misunderstanding. Some of the secondary characters were interesting--Edward and Folly. Grace did protect herself emotionally but I understood her reasons and could commiserate with her.

A good book for a quiet winter's evening

ALONG CAME JONES by Dixie Browning
Along Came Jones - Dixie Browning

Rex sees Lu coming from the fishing pond and is struck by her but he has no idea why. He's out for a good time and the ladies he goes with know the score but something about Lu knocks him sideways. He's secretive and does not trust easily but somehow Lu gets under his defenses.

I enjoyed this story--a good beach read. I liked the contrast between Rex and Lu-one open, one closed. When trouble comes Lu fights tooth and nail to get Rex cleared. There is some humor there. Rex does cause Lu to change her life and she needs a shaking up. Just a quick fun read.

Chance
Always a Bridesmaid - Cindi Madsen

This is book #2, in the Getting Hitched In Dixie series.  While each book in this series in listed as a standalone and can be read that way, I recommend reading them in order.  Well worth it if you do.

Violet comes to visit and help her sister.  She has crashed and burned recently with the bad breakup she has just experienced.  Then she meets Ford, and its like she just has to tell herself she is here to recover temporarily.

Ford never expects one woman to knock him off his feet.  Since they have met, he has felt like he always wants to be around her all the time.  Is it turning in your man card if you like being around someone so fun and full of life?

This author is a 1click standard for me, I will be honest about that.  Not since her Taking Shots series have I stayed up and not put a book down. (I surely would love if she wrote more hockey - whoo!) Anyway, this story was full of rich characters with full backstories.  The people in this town are all quirky and interesting to read.  I laughed and eagerly turned the pages.  Excited to see the next installment!  I give this read a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
