Inhalt: Mögen die Spiele beginnen...

Die epische Rachegeschichte geht weiter. Nachdem Mia einen der Männer umgebracht hat, die für die Zerstörung ihrer Familie verantwortlich sind, bleiben noch zwei übrig: Kardinal Duomo und Konsul Scaeva. Beide sind jedoch vor der Öffentlichkeit abgeschirmt und für Mia unerreichbar. Schlimmer noch: Die Rote Kirche selbst scheint Scaeva zu schützen...

Um an ihn heranzukommen, geht Mia ein großes Risiko ein: Sie kehrt der Kirche den Rücken und begibt sich in die Sklaverei, um als Gladiatorin an den Großen Spielen in Gottesgrab teilzunehmen. Denn dem Gewinner, so heißt es, wird eine private Audienz beim Konsul gewährt. Allerdings merkt Mia schnell, dass sie diesmal zu weit gegangen ist, denn auf dem blutigen Sand der Arena gibt es keine Gnade und nur eine Regel: Ruhm und Ehre - oder Tod.

Meine Bewertung: Ich hab die typische "zweites Buch in einer Serie" Flaute erwartet ABER NICHTS DA!!!!

Ich hab nach dem ersten Buch erwartet, dass ich ewig nicht über das Ende hinweg kommen würde. Band zwei hat mir die Angst super schnell genommen, es gab so viel Action und Spannung von Anfang an, dass ich gar keine Zeit hatte irgendjemanden aus Band eins nachzutrauern.

Die Charaktere waren wieder großartig. Ich liebe Mia einfach total, das hat sich in dem Band nicht geändert und wird sich auch nicht mehr ändern. SIE IST DIE BESTE.

Ich fand auch die neuen Charaktere wirklich unheimlich gut geschrieben und super interessant. Obwohl ich mich nie wieder an Freundschaften zwischen Mia und Nebencharakteren trauen werde. Es geht meistens ziemlich übel aus.
Und die romantische Beziehung. ICH HAB ES NICHT ERWARTET, vor allem habe ich nicht von mir erwartet, dass ich es gut finden würde, dass ausgerechnet SIE in Mia's Bett landet ABER JA, ICH FINDE ES MEHR ALS GUT!!!!

Es ist so viel passiert, so viele Schläge aus verschiedenen Richtungen, dass ich Angst habe ein Schleudertrauma zu haben. WAS??????

My review: I totally suspected the "second book in a series" dullness but HELL NO!!!

I totally expected not getting over the ending of the first book in a very long time. Book two didn't even give me time to hold a grudge, so much action and thrill right from the start, I didn't have time to grieve anything or anyone from book one.

The characters were amazing once again. I just love Mia so damn much, it didn't change in this book and probably will never change EVER. SHE IS THE DAMN BEST.
I also really enjoyed all the new characters a lot, they were super well written and just SUPER interesting. Still, I don't do friendships anymore when it comes to Mia and sidecharacters. It just always ends badly.
And the romantic relationship. I DID NOT EXPECT IT, I especially didn't think I would like that SHE ended up in Mia's bed BUT HOLY SHIT YES, I'M SO INTO IT!!!!

THE END of the book. THAT DAMN ENDING.
So many things happened all at once, so many punches from different directions, I feel like I got whiplash. WHAT THE FUCK????

I said it before and I say it again…. I’m soo, soooo happy that I gave this book a try on audio after I had problems with the print copies. This easily became one of my top favorite books/series.

 There is not much I can say about this book without spoiling it so I will make it super short. One thing I should mention though is, there is a lot of swearing and it is very graphic gore and also smut. So if you have issues with any of them I suggest to skip this series and read one of his YA books ;)

I loved Mia and her companions, so much fun but also very heartbreaking and informative at times. I loved the Mia’s growth throughout the series so far but mostly in this book. From the beginning she had a goal, and o matter what was going to follow the path to accomplishing that very goal, no matter the cost. While that was still very much true in this book, Mia also became a little bit more her own person. She also was still on the quest to learn more about what she is.

I can honestly say there are so many things happening in this book that I did not see coming, I thought I did but nope I sure did not. Nothing turned out the way I thought it might.  There are so many twist and turns and surprises along the way that will make your head spin.

The ending …. It has been days since I finished it and I’m still in AWE ……. What a shocking cliffhanger we get with this book. I cannot wait for the next and final book, though I’m also scared to know who and how many people we will lose. Because I have a feeling that will be an even bigger bloodbath that we had with this book.

Overall. EPIC book I loved every minute of it, since I had the hardcover and the audio I also can recommend the audio, it was very well narrated.
