#5StarReview – Itsy Bitsy Spider by Willow Rose @MadamWillowRose
Itsy Bitsy Spider - Willow Rose

I actually picked up Itsy Bitsy Spider by Willow Rose on an Amazon free day on 11.22.14. I didn’t read it until 6.8.19, but that’s not the books fault. LOL

I am thoroughly creeped out by spiders, so I do love this cover.

MY REVIEW

Oh Astrid. My heart is breaking and I’ve only read the Prologue. I am one of those people that love Prologues and Epilogues.

Emma Frost is new to the island due to an inheritance, a house from her grandmother. let’s see what kind of trouble will come her way, seeing I know Willow Rose from other stories of hers I have read and she tends to blow my mind.

There’s a murder next door. “Welcome to the neighborhood.”

Willow has a way of grabbing me by the throat, gaining my full attention as I struggle like the characters to survive the evil.

WTF! Sure led me down a twisted, horrifying path to the killer.

Willow Rose draws me in slowly…I know it’s hard to come up with something new..and BAM, in your face, but Willow seems able to do that many times over!

From past to present an evil secret in Emma’s family is expose.

Blew me away. Saying OMG, Omg, omg…

Itsy Bitsy
Itsy Bitsy - John Ajvide Lindqvist,Ebba Segerberg

I really enjoyed the Swedish movie Let the right one in, based on a book by this author, so when I came across this free ebook on Amazon, I thought it would be a great way to get to know his writing.

The actual story is only about ten pages long (the rest is promotion of his other works) and the story wasn't that good. I admit I was curious to find out what was happening at first but the ending was really weird and I didn't feel like there was a single question answered. It almost felt like there were a few scenes drawn from a bag and pasted together.

I was underwhelmed by this reading experience.

ITSY BITSY SPIDER by Willow Rose
Itsy Bitsy Spider - Willow Rose
Emma moves into her late grandmother's home on Fanoe Island. A serial killer is on the loose but the police are reluctant to say that for fear of losing tourists.

I enjoyed this mystery. It is creepy but kept me turning the pages to find out who did it. I figured out the why and knew who (sort of) but I wanted to know how the victims were involved. I liked the back and forth of the past and of today. It heightened the suspense of the story. I liked that Emma figured it out but I was screaming "NOOOOOOO" when the murderer was revealed. I did not want to believe it.

The ending was rushed. It happened so fast. The build-up of the action then it was over. I felt deflated, kind of like "That's it? It's over? NOOOOOO!"

I plan on reading more Willow Rose and her Emma Frost series.

Itsy Bitsy Spider
Itsy Bitsy Spider - Willow Rose This introductory book about Emma Frost is fascinating and truly surprising. Emma has financial difficulties and is raising two children alone. Her grandmother wills her her house on Fanoe Island (Denmark). The house is large, with plenty of room. More importantly her autistic son finds the trees in the back yard endlessly fascinating, which pleases Emma. Almost immediately upon her arrival people begin dying in the most horrific way. There are several suspects as the reader progresses through the story the clues are piling high. Emma was once a journalist and has learned to hack into other people's computers. She hacks into the police department's computers to learn what happened to the murdered people because she is interested in writing a true-crime novel. Once there, she realizes that her grandmother had been the first victim of a serial killer.

Itsy Bitsy (Short story available on Amazon for free)
Itsy Bitsy - John Ajvide Lindqvist

I think John Ajvide Lindqvist builds up the story good, unfortunately I felt the ending was a bit of a belly flop. That's it? That's the explanation? It's not even scary, just weird.
