TOUR & REVIEW - Spirits of Power (Echo of a Hero, #1) by Pearson Myles
Spirits of Power (Echo of a Hero #1) - Pearson Myles

Two months after surviving an accident that should have killed him, Austin Bennet woke up with his bed on fire. That was only the beginning. As a foreboding scar spreads on his chest, Austin discovers that he has inhuman abilities. Soon hiding from the government’s enforcers, Austin finds himself swept away by The Orchid, a reckless insurgent who happens to also be one of the plenaries, a powerful race of beings with incredible powers and technology that were outlawed by society decades ago.

But is it really the plenaries humans should fear? When rumors surface about someone manipulating the world government, Austin’s new allies fear an old enemy of theirs has returned. Could Austin be the key to reunifying humans and plenaries? Or is he just a tool of destruction created for an even darker purpose?

Just Between You And Me: A Memoir
Just Between You And Me: A Memoir - Myles Goodwyn

When I started this book, I was depressed and I guess because I listen to a lot of April Wine, reading this book felt like a friend sharing their story with me. It kept my mind off things and I couldn't wait to pick it back up. Myles lays it all out in the open for us. He tells us about his childhood. Growing up poor, his mother dying at a young age. His early bands. How April Wine came to be, and their many lineup changes and what their songs are about. He takes us through his later years, talks about his health and his other ventures. There's nothing in here that's crude, he doesn't put anyone down. He seems like a classy, down-to-earth guy and like I said it felt like I had a friend while I was reading this book. I could gush about how I think April Wine is the best band to come out of Canada. And they started in Nova Scotia, where I'm from! So cool. Definitely check this book out if you're a big April Wine/Myles Goodwyn fan.

World building needed help
Betrothed - Jill Myles

Thank you to Shanelle for the recommendation!

Started off really good with a rock and hard place heroine and dark, cold, mysterious, but standing up for her hero. Has a historical feel with setting and clothing but dialogue is modern. The world building was shaky at times and there were little contradictory things (hero has short cropped hair and then hair reaches his collar and bangs in the face) throughout. Heroine grew to be TSTL with her decision making and forced lack of seeing a character for who he really was, eye-rolling. This is first person from the heroine and I again missed any insight from the hero.

Something interesting here but felt a raw and unrefined.

Reading Update: 30%
Betrothed - Jill Myles

Seri stared into Prince Graeme’s coldly polite eyes and wanted to laugh. Revered and beloved by all, except her cold-as-a-statue betrothed. “I am Vidari,” she protested again, the objection sounding hollow even to her own ears. “I am not Athoni. By your own laws I cannot be a citizen, much less royalty.”

“The laws of the One God are irrefutable, even by royalty themselves,” Prince Graeme interjected. “I am afraid that choice is not an option.” His flat words sounded so final.

A frightened whimper slid past her teeth. “I want to go home.”

His polite, cold smile never faltered. “You are home.”

The Hot Floor by Josephine Myles 4 Star Review!
The Hot Floor - Josephine Myles

wo plus one equals scorching hot fun.

Dumped by his boyfriend and reduced to living in a grotty bedsit, Josh Carpenter lives for his job as a glassblower. That and occasional glimpses of his sexy downstairs neighbours, Rai Nakamura and Evan Truman.

Whenever he overhears the diminutive academic and the hunky plumber having loud and obviously kinky sex, Josh is whipped into a state of frenzied lust… and a longing for a relationship like theirs.

To his amazement, Rai and Evan find his embarrassing tendency to blush utterly charming, and the three men grow closer over the course of the long, hot summer. Despite enjoying Rai’s charming flirtation and Evan’s smoldering gaze, Josh is determined never to do anything to split them apart.

However, when a naked Josh falls—quite literally—into the middle of one of Rai and Evan’s marathon sex sessions, the force of their mutual attraction takes over. But just as Josh dares to hope, he senses a change. If the three of them can’t renegotiate the rules of their new relationship, Josh risks losing their friendship—and any chance at love—forever.

Review

A really well done poly story, where one hero joins a couple.

It is a tender, slapstick, charming, and hot.

Myles does a wonderful job showing these three fall in love and work out the dynamics of their relationship.

Each hero is lovely. Enjoy!
