The newest book in the Flame series is a sensational and exhilarating read that keeps readers glued to the pages as the hero and heroine go up against a vicious and evil alpha. Davis and Natalie are strong, charismatic characters that take Five Bridges by storm with fiery chemistry and amazing gifts. The attraction may be undeniable but this hero and heroine both have some issues left over by the past that directly impact the way this relationship progresses which has quite a bit of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages. Both Davis and Natalie are take charge characters that really complement each other and make this story strong and a satisfying.

The fast paced plot flows smoothly from beginning to end building the suspense and excitement up to epic proportions as the battle between Davis and Natalie and the alpha comes to a head. The story is full of adrenaline pumping events, surprising twists which keeps this readers from putting the book down on their own but add in some amazing twists and elements and this story becomes highly entertaining. The characters come up with some unique solutions to the problems they face and they make plenty of mistakes which makes the story realistic and the characters more lifelike. There is never a dull moment to be found during this complex, sensational and exhilarating read.

Sapphire Flame is the 7th book in the Flame series

The Flame Series:

Thirty years ago, experiments in the U.S., with the powerful and addictive flame drugs, created five serums, called the alter serums. When taken with food or drink, these serums resulted in complete transformations of DNA.

Humans were no long human and, depending on which serum was taken, the individual involved became one of five alter creatures: Vampires, witches or warlocks, wolves, fae, or dead-talkers. Because of the violence inherent in the early alters — as they came to be known — anyone who underwent the horrifying transformation was sent to live in designation ghettos within the major cities.

Arizona’s ghetto, located in north Phoenix, became known as Five Bridges because of the large bridges that separated each of the warring alter territories. Barbed wire and thick, cement, prison-like walls formed a border between the U.S. and these ghettos. Any alter leaving Five Bridges without a passport, would be killed on sight. Powerful alters of each of the species serve as Border Patrol officers.

Illegal drugs became rampant within the alter world as well as a proliferation of sex clubs. Humans visited the ghettos every night to pay for experiences they couldn’t get in the U.S. proper. With a corrupt government, the rise of cartels, and the naturally violent state of the alter condition, chaos rules this world.

But in each territory, there are those extraordinary men and women, alters though they are, who fight every night of their lives to make Five Bridges a better place for all.

I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.

For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!
