Blurb:

The final chapters in Raven and Lexi’s epic love story that began with Opposing Sides. Having been through hell and back, Raven and Lexi beat the odds stacked against them and came out on the winning side together. For the past several months, Raven’s been working hard to show Lexi he can be the husband she deserves and the father their soon-to-be born twins need. Playing pro-football is proving to be more challenging than they thought.

As the weeks pass and her due date nears, old demons resurface, threatening to destroy what they’ve worked hard to rebuild. The birth of their twins reminds them despite long practice sessions, football games, and the holidays, what’s most important is the greatest gift of all: love.

**This novella takes place before the epilogue in The Winning Side and A Different Side. This is a standalone story, but it is recommended you read the series.**

This is book # 5 in the University Park series. By the authors own words: **This novella takes place before the epilogue in The Winning Side and A Different Side. This book can be read as a standalone, but it is recommended you read the series.**

The story continues for Raven and Lexi as they are now in New Orleans and he is beginning his NFL career. They are steadily working on their relationship moving forward and planning for the future.

Lexi is adjusting to living in a new city, being away from her family and being loved by Raven's. There is so much going on and she is afraid still, that Raven will give in to his dark side and she will lose everything. He assures her all the time that he loves her, but she cannot help it.

Raven is stressed and worried. He is trying to be there for Lexi, not let his team down and take them all the way. This is his chance and he does not want to blow it.

I loved this book! This is such a good and endearing book about how love endures - even when there are cracks that can be filled or weaken you. Such a pure example of unconditional love and HEA that can happen against all odds! Grab you a copy, you won't regret it!!

Excerpt:

I pulled into the park and stopped a few feet shy of the valet stop. Night had set in and the weather was a nice sixty degrees. Perfect for a train ride and a stroll through the park.

“We’re here.” I leaned over and helped Lexi remove the mask.

“Oh wow.” She blinked a few times and looked around. “This is beautiful, Raven.” She peered out the window like kid anxious to run through an amusement park. “Do they always decorate the park with Christmas lights?”

“Yes, Celebration in the Oaks has been a New Orleans’s traditions since I can remember.”

“How fun.”

“I bought us tickets for a train ride, which takes us around the park to see the Christmas lights.”

“Oh that’s perfect.” She smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“If you’re up to it, we can walk around afterwards. If not, I understand.” I wasn’t sure if she could handle strolling through the park with her big belly. I felt bad for all the weight she was carrying around.

“Exercise is good for me, so I don’t mind.”

“We’ll see how you feel after the train ride.” I pulled forward to the valet porter.

“Okay.”

We got out of the vehicle and walked toward the train station. Festive holiday music played and thousands of lights twinkled in a variety of colors. Some outlined the huge oak trees and others draped the moss-covered cypress trees. Various lighted displays were spread throughout the park creating a magical winter spectacular. Decorated Christmas trees lined the walkway giving it a cozy, intimate feel.

“This reminds me of last year when you took me to downtown Fort Worth and we went ice skating.”

“I know.”

I laced my fingers through hers. “This was the weekend we hooked up and you stayed with me.”

Lexi stopped and turned to me. “Oh no…”

“Happy Anniversary, baby.”

She covered her face with her hand. “How could I forget?”

“It’s okay.” I chuckled. “You got a lot going on.”

“Not more than you.” Disappointment laced her beautiful features. “No wonder you gave me the diamond earrings during dinner.” She shook her head. “I thought you were giving me an early Christmas gift. I’m such a loser.”

“No you’re not.” I drew Lexi close to me. “You’re about to give birth to twins. I don’t think that puts you anywhere in the loser category.”

“But I didn’t buy you anything.” Her hands rested on my chest.

My eyes wandered behind her as the deep voices tried to enter my head. Telling me Lexi would never marry me. That she’d never be my wife. That all of this was just temporary. I shook my head and aligned my eyes with her.  “There’s only one thing I want from you, Lexi.”

Her gaze tore from mine. “I know. Please be patient with me. Okay?”

I lifted her chin, bringing our gazes together again. “I already told you, I’m not going anywhere.”

“Good. Because I’m not going to let you.” She smiled and then backed away, latching on to my hand. “Come on, let’s go have some fun. I might not be able to ice skate, but we can at least enjoy the lights.”

“You got it, baby.”

We boarded the train for the two-mile ride around the park. We laughed and talked the entire time as we passed the blinking Christmas displays, which included the animated Cajun Night Before Christmas display and the iconic snowman, Mr. Bingle, a New Orleans’ favorite. It was fun and festive and by the smile on Lexi’s face, I knew she was having a good time.

“The lights were beautiful,” Lexi said, as I helped her step off the train. “I’m so glad you thought of this.”

“I wasn’t sure it would be a good idea, since you were so far along.”

She waved off my comment. “I’m pregnant, not handicap.”

“I know, but it can’t be easy lugging around two babies.”

“It’s not.” She huffed. “But it’s only temporary.”

“Thank, God.” I wrapped my arm around her. “Because I miss you lying naked on top of me.”

A soft moan escaped her lips. “I miss that, too.”

“How long do we have to wait?” I cautiously asked.

Her eyes darted to the sky. “I think six weeks, but it might be longer for C-section. I don’t know, but don’t let me forget to ask.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t.” Apparently I wasn’t the only one missing the great sex.

“So, have you decided on the names?” I held up my arm, pointing at my watch. “Times ticking.”

“I know.” Lexi nodded repeatedly. “But this isn’t my decision alone. You have to agree, too.”

“Okay. Then let’s decide tonight.” I spotted a vendor selling coffee and pastries.

“You want something?”

“Do you have to ask?” She winked. “You know my weakness.”

Release Tour - MY SOUL TO KEEP

release day banner copy

Synopsis

It seems the things worth keeping are often the hardest to hold...

KAI

I had two things in life that mattered. My mother and my music. Mama was taken from me too soon, and now music is all I have left. It’s the thing that’s pushed me right out of backwoods Georgia into Los Angeles, where the line between fantasy and reality shimmers and blurs. I’m finally making my way, making my mark. I can’t afford to fall for one of music's brightest stars. Not now. Music is all I have left, and I’m holding on tight with both hands. I won’t let go, not even for Rhyson Gray.

RHYSON

I had one thing in my life that mattered – music. The only constant, it’s taken me to heights most people only dream about; a gift dropped in my lap at birth. I thought it was enough. I thought it was everything until I met Kai. Now she’s all I think about, like a song I can't get out of my head. If I have to chase her, if I have to give up everything - I will.

And once she's mine, I won't let go.

Goodreads

Excerpt

I shouldn’t have come. All the things I felt and fought, the things I suspected he felt too, he just spewed all over me. And as much as I want to be, I’m not sure I’m ready. I’ll never forget seeing my Mama in bed for days after Daddy left. And even though she got up, I suspect a part of her never left that bed, but just stayed there, waiting. We had to leave the house where she grew up and where I spent my first years, because Daddy left us with nowhere to go. Mama learned to stand on her two feet, and I’ve done the same. I just didn’t count on Rhyson sweeping me off of them.

“We’re obviously on different pages about this.” I pull my hands free and turn to leave, but he steps in front of me, blocking my grand exit. “Let’s talk later.”

“Enough talking.”

The heat of his body grabs me before his hands do. He traps my chin between two fingers, taking my mouth in a paradox of rough and tender. I want to move. To slide away from his body pressing me into the pool table. But I can’t. Not with his hand caressing my back. Not with his tongue in my mouth. Not with his erection pressing into my stomach. I can’t. I won’t. I have been denying myself this, and I’m so damn hungry. My mouth opens under his, ravenous and wet and hot. His groan vibrates against my lips.

“Yes. Good God, yes, Pep.” His words slip down my throat.

I strain up on tiptoes, clawing my fingers into his dark hair, forcing him closer. He lifts me onto the pool table, planting himself between my knees. His fingers skim my bare thigh, working up my leg until he reaches a damp patch of silk. He pushes my panties aside, rubbing his hand into the wet flesh there before sliding one long finger and then another inside of me. I rock into these fingers which have awed millions with their skill. They own me. I’m the instrument in his hands. He’s playing me. Plucking at me. Strumming me.

He tugs at the wide neck of my sweater until it falls away from my shoulder, slipping his hand in and cupping my naked breast. He brushes his fingers over my nipple, and I lose my mind and every inhibition. My head flops back and I stretch my legs wider, offering him anything he wants.

“Are you kidding me?” His question burns the vulnerable curve of my neck as he drags his lips to my shoulder. “You come here wearing no bra and think I won’t…”

He abandons the words, his dark, untidy head disappearing under my sweater, and before I have time to regain even millimeters of sanity, my nipple is in his mouth and he’s suckling me. Not gentle. Not soft. My breasts are so small, he almost eats me whole. Every draw, every suck, every bite sends a power surge to my core until my knees hold his hips in a desperate grip, and my nails rake across the flat surface of the pool table behind me.

His mouth at my breast. His fingers inside me. His clean scent surrounding me. I have nowhere to hide anymore. I am exposed. I want to spread myself wide open for him. That voice that has been telling me I can’t rely on him. I can’t trust him. I can’t need him—that voice is stunned into silence by his thorough possession of my body, by the inferno between my legs, blazing a hole right through my soul and scorching my heart.

Review

Kai and Rhyson meet through his uncle. Kai attracts him right away. She gets his music, and he sees that. Rhyson is sex on a stick. Kai cannot help but be attracted to a man who is that hot.

Only problem? Kai is so busy paying off debt, that working 3 or 4 jobs at a time is normal for her. Where would she fit in a relationship? Heck, even fun gets put to the side right now. She just does not have the time.

Rhyson is warned off by many of those around her. He just cannot stay away. So instead, they become good friends. Friends are worth their weight in gold, and he is glad to be hers. While they tend to keep separate lives, they both treasure the friendship that has blossomed.

Kai knows she is playing with a ticking time bomb. She is totally attracted to him and dreams about one day kissing him. How much longer can she push off the inevitable?

Such a great start to the series!! This book has something for everyone. Drama, laughter, heat, music, food, oh and did I mention the two of them together are just HOT? I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.
