Speed Reading For Beginners
Speed Reading for Beginners: How to Read 300% Faster in 24 hours - Michael E. Reese

This book was free on Amazon some time ago, and although I didn't think it really was something for me, I felt like I should give it a try.

Some tips in this book actually seemed to make some sense, like doing certain eye-movement exercises, but I also found that speed reading isn't something for me. I don't like reading in chunks or diagonally, it just doesn't feel good. So, I'll just continue to read as I'm used to (it wasn't recommended anyway for what I really wanted to use it: reading (not always too interesting medical articles)...

What Speed Do You Read?

I found this interesting when Debbie's Spurts posted the link to this test.

I clocked in at 339 words per minute, 36% faster than the average...however, slower then I use to be able to. Hmmm. It also helped that the blurb was from Alice in Wonderland, I read faster when I'm actually interested.

Still, an interesting little test, and they use your speed to calculate how long reading books like War and Peace would take you if you maintained that speed.

Overall, a fun little exercise.

Race Against Time

That moment when the book you're in the middle of is due back to the library VERY soon.

This is happening right now for me. I'm like 75% done The 5th Wave and it's due tomorrow and I really need to finish it because I will die if I don't get to the end sooner rather than later. The thing is, I totally could finish it. The only thing stopping me is homework. I have some chem readings and questions and pre lab things that all need to be done tonight also.

So what do I do? I write a post about it on Booklikes.
