In this irresistible romance from the New York Times bestselling author of Happily Bedded Bliss, appearances can deceive, but the heart is not so easy to fool... — — Rosamund Carrow has spent years learning the law by assisting her barrister father, despite the frustrating truth that the profession is closed to women. When he dies unexpectedly, necessity compels her to disguise herself as a man so she can step into the courtroom to finish his cases. She's willing to put her reputation at risk, but she never expects that the greatest peril will be to her heart...

Lord Lawrence Byron is a rising star in London's legal circles, despite his reputation as an unrepentant rakehell. When an upstart young barrister defeats him in court, he's determined to discover everything he can about his rival. He's stunned when he uncovers the shocking secret that his new opponent is actually a beguiling, brilliant woman, one he can't help but want in his bed. Passion draws them together as they break all the rules, but it may lead to something more lasting like love..

*Beware this review contains spoilers but then again so does the blurb so don't blame me just don't read if you don't want to hear it.*

As the final book in the Cavendish series I really wasn't that enthused over the entire thing. The sad thing is, its written very well and its a great series but the whole fact that Lawrence has this attraction to Rosa the entire time not knowing that she's actually a woman while disguised as a man then he goes balls deep into la la land the second he finds out that she's a woman despite all the dead giveaway's that she actually is a woman yet its insta-love the moment he realizes it?

Okay, so that totally didn't make sense, I know. But that's how it is in the book.

Rosa dresses as a man to finish up some last minute business her now deceased father left behind. Lawrence comes in all haughty as you please snob and a half walking about as if his shit don't stink fights this constant pull toward Rosa while dressed as a man is a ten ton jerk and half most the time he's around her then the moment its revealed that Rosa is really a she  or rather she's the one who has been dressing as a man in court Lawrence goes haywire and can't way to get to happy land the second he finds out about it.

Seriously its like he can't wait to rip off their clothes just to pound into her how angry/happy he is about being deceived and it being revealed but can't fight the pull of love the moment he has her. Talk about leading with the wrong brain.

Yet, despite the whole love thing the minor I'm going to punish you for lying deal was total BS... I call BS!!

Why should she have to apologize to him for what he did to her? How is that right?

I'm not calling the sexism reverse roll thing but he's the one who was a complete dick. She should have sent his ass packing not fall all over him in weepy dismay begging for his forgiveness! No! She should have had him crawling on his knees for her.

But that's what irks me about these period girls because they are just so quick to be someones doormat that it makes me want to shred the book to pieces.

In the end Bedchamber Games wasn't one of my favorites in this series I just hope we don't get any repeat stories like this in the future.

Until next time book lovers...

Okey-dokey
Happily Bedded Bliss: The Rakes of Cavendish Square - Tracy Anne Warren Having not read the others in the series or other books by this author, the beginning of this with all the past characters from other books gave it a really rough start for me; the huge cast dominated and stole away from the hero and heroine. The hero was probably a more realistic man of his times than we sometimes see in romance and I do think the relationship with the heroine changed him for the better but we never really got to see that. Sometimes his older man of the world clashed uncomfortably with her young naive heart of gold but in the second half, when they were together, they played off each other well. They don't really spend a lot of time together and with some time skips we are only told, they have a fun teasing relationship develop instead of seeing it. I definitely was left wanting with seeing and experiencing them together. Their ending fight was so ridiculous and a major much to do about nothing and made it eye-rolling frustrating, making me end with a less than pleased feeling. Overall, I liked the writer's style and flow but I definitely needed the couple to spend more time together. I'll be trying this author again :)

Happily Bedded Bliss: The Rakes of Cavendish Square - Tracy Anne Warren

"Don’t make a scene, darling,” Northcote murmured for her ears alone. “Not at your own wedding.”
“I am not your darling.”
“No, you are my wife. Or have you forgotten the vows you took today? Among them was your promise to obey me.”
"No, it wasn’t. I crossed my fingers during that part, so it didn’t count.”
His lips twitched as if he was suddenly of a mind to laugh.

Ok, I did a bit of catch up reading to where I originally planned on being today. I've read to the end of chapter 13.

I totally agree it has had a bit of a slow start. The big cast you both mentioned is definitely impeding the flow for me. I haven't read the rest in the series so I'm getting that lost feeling at times too Andrea. Gabriel is coming off a bit jerkbutt I think due to his more experience and Esme having a young innocent vibe to her. The chapter I ended on looks to be the beginning of them finally having some alone time and this will hopefully rev things up. It sounds like I might be enjoying this a little bit more than you two, though. I'm trying to be cognizant of that fact that my feeling drained mood might be affecting my reading so I could be overcompensating with enthusiasm, too.

Happily Bedded Bliss: The Rakes of Cavendish Square - Tracy Anne Warren

"...I’m afraid, Lord Northcote, that your fate was sealed the moment my sister saw you and put her pencil to paper.”

Buddy reading this with Becca and Andrea from GRs :)

I love serendipitous meetings like this; the scandalous excitement, lol.
Esme seems sweet but maybe a little head in the clouds and oblivious, hard to tell this early.
I haven't read the others in the series but a wee bit overwhelming with all the characters, especially the sheer amount of her brothers!
This is so far reminding and giving me the feeling of one of the Bridgertons or Pennyroyal Green books :)

Happily Bedded Bliss (The Rakes of Cavendish Square #2) by Tracy Anne Warren
Happily Bedded Bliss: The Rakes of Cavendish Square - Tracy Anne Warren

When Lady Esme Byron happens upon a gorgeous naked man sleeping beside a secluded country lake, she can’t resist the impulse to sketch him. But when her highly improper drawing is mistakenly revealed at a party, she finds her once-pristine reputation in tatters.

Gabriel, Lord Northcote, may be a notorious rakehell, but he is still stunned to find himself accused of despoiling a duke’s sister—especially since he's never set eyes on her. When Esme’s six irate brothers demand a hurried trip down the aisle, he has no choice but to comply. He thinks he can forget about his inconvenient bride but Esme Byron is no ordinary woman and Gabriel is about to learn just how unforgettable she can be.

My Reviews:

Happily Bedded Bliss is an example of an author that gets historical fiction right when I'm really in the mood for it. You get the artsy mystery going on and Gabriel is a character that I really liked for the simple fact that he made me laugh. I enjoy a book that actually gets genuine laughter from me. If you haven't read this book check it out. Its a sweet romance I really liked.
