A Reason to Breathe
A Reason to Breathe - C.P. Smith I loved the stinking heck out this book! It had a bit of a KA vibe going on in it (I seem to be saying that a lot in reviews lately??).

I loved both the hero (Jack) and the heroine (Jenn) though why writers always have to make journalists to stupid to live is beyond me. "Oh look, there is a serial killer on the loose, I think I'll stick my nose into the investigation, thus making myself the focus of the killer!!" Do these people not watch TV, or movies?? *lol*

The mystery of who the baddie was was pretty decent, though I did figure it out fairly early. I could also have done without the plethora of pussy that Jack seemed to have worked himself through in their tiny town. The guy seemed to have a taste for crazy, since every one of them that showed up had "THE CRAZY EYES" *lol* Luckily Jennifer took it all in stride and it didn't cause a ton of unnecessary conflict.

Overall it was a decent read with likable characters, hot sex, and a good plot!

Side note: Every time I read "Ben and Gerry" together I developed a sudden craving for ice cream...*lol*

Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan
Reason to Breathe - Rebecca Donovan

if you're thinking about reading this here's what you should know:

  •  you will read the word "breathe" many many times. so just be prepared.

you will "HATE..hate, hate , double hate . Loathe entirely..." Carol.

  • (every time I read the name Carol I get this image of "Carol" from The Walking dead.)
  • Think to yourself - "What the F*ck, really? F*ck this book."

then you'll tell yourself you're gonna put it down because it's so frustrating because Emma's thought process is stupid.  Then Evan will turn up on the page and before you know it you'll be smiling and reading way past your bedtime because you've told yourself..."just one more page . I have to see if Emma smarten ups."

I'm not saying this book is great. It's not. But it had something that made me keep reading and put the next book on hold.

...oh yea, about that. If you're gonna read this one, you're gonna need to put the next book, Barely Breathing, on hold too.

Things that didn't make sense to me:

The hate Carol has for Emma. I need a reason. I don't matter how small. I just need to hear her reasoning. Like maybe Emma is really her husband's child? Or she reminds her of a girl she hates...something!

The Drew attraction. that didn't work for me.

(spoiler show)

on to the next book....

Reason to Breathe
Reason to Breathe - Rebecca Donovan I loved this book. At times though I felt like I had skipped a couple pages or something-it seemed to jump around (like, someone is gone one minute, and then back the next! I was sure I missed something!). That aside, I did really enjoy the book; I liked the characters and I felt that it was pretty realistic for the most part. Its definitely HS drama, so if you don't like that kind of stuff, you won't like this. I, however, love it!

MY REVIEW

three-stars  NOT DOING IT FOR ME STARS!

Jennifer Stewart, after losing her husband and with her daughter off to college, she decided to restart her life and pursue her dream. She wants to move high in the mountains of Colorado with deer and bears for my neighbours and pursue a job of journalism, and so she moved to Crested Butte, Colorado, where she will be an entertainment reporter for the Gunnison Times. But Jenn’s got more than she bargained for when she not only caught the eyes of the hot and sexy sheriff, Jack Gunnison, but also attracted the eyes of a killer.

Jack Gunnison has his hands full when Jenn made it her mission to figure out who the killer is…. It doesn’t help that he wants her bad…. and, he has a killer to find.

This book got a lot of ravings so I decided to finally read this…. and this is what I think…

Jenn is 39 years old that acts like a dimwitted teenager.. her character is just beyond irritating! There is innocent and cute and funny but there is also too much and exaggeration and childish and just plain playing stupid.

SPOILER :

She goes and call the women whom Jack had dated to warn them that a killer might be after them? What the hell!!! And at first it was cute and funny when she gets in trouble with the Sheriff and she’d think of moving/running away, but she does it ALL THE TIME it’s beyond irritating!!!! And yeah, run she did!!!! Oh and her reply when she was asked why she went half-cocked and run, her answer to the deputy, Barry, was, “I’m not going half coked, I thought this through while in the bathtub.” Wow, she is definitely 39 going 6…. And oh, a killer is out there looking for you, what do you do? Talk to a complete stranger in a bar and agree to let him walk you to your car!

Jack is a complete hot, sexy, alpha man… I like that he is all macho, with that “all MINE” alpha thing going… though this supposedly hot banter between Jack and Jenn was… I hate to say it…. CHEESY, sorry…. Just to mention some; there’s a lot going about “tanning her hide” and her being his kryptonite… ugh!

The plot could be really interesting except why the hell all of the men in that area is falling for Jenn? Wow!

Then I thought it was finished, mystery solved… but the story just stretched on, which was just an overkill!

What I did like was the surprise on who the killer was…. that’s a thumbs up for me…

That said, this book is definitely NOT for me…

Written on both Jenn and Jack’s POV.
