Yay! The more the merrier.
I struggle mightily with non-fiction, but I am going to really try! This looks very interesting. It also looks like something my daughter might find interesting.
LoL. I'll cheer you on. I might struggle with it myself - the size of the book daunts me. :D
Welcome! I love that more people are getting involved with this read; I hope it's as good as we're all hoping.

I'm going to do a general post in just a bit about the possibility of starting a week earlier (BrokenTune's library hold came in early). Would that suit you Moonlight Reader? Do you need to borrow it from a library? I know SusannaG does, and we can keep the original start date if necessary.
Question for everyone: Do we want just one big general discussion thread, or do we want to be all organised and break down the discussion threads by chapter of book? There are pros and cons to both, and I'm happy to set it up either way.
I can do a week earlier. I am going to buy the book, so I need either 0 minutes or 2 days of lead time, depending on which direction I go (kindle or print).

Most non-fiction books aren't as long as the page count, simply because they include an index, a reference section and sometimes diagrams/photographs. The index and reference section can sometimes take up anything from 10-100 pages depending on the book. No-one reads the index or references unless they are looking for something specific.

What about a general discussion thread where posters have to leave out spoilers or put spoiler tags? And then chapter threads with assumed spoilers, for specific topics covered in each chapter? I haven't read the book, so I'm not sure what would work better. Just my 2 cents.
Ok, I've adjusted the start date so the buddy read officially begins this Friday, 7th July. I'm really looking forward to this.

Just in case there is anyone in the group who might not know - in the upper right corner of the discussion thread, you can adjust your notifications for the group and individual threads. I sort of forgot about this for awhile and I think it's why the groups don't always work so well for me. One I turned all notifications on, I stopped missing a lot of posts. :)
One day to go!

Looking through the table of contents, the chapters seem pretty short, and as the book is broken down into 5 sections, I've created 5 discussion threads, one for each.

Looking forward to tomorrow's start. :)

Post #1 and the title still have the old date - if you can still fix it?

Re notifications: it does help quite a bit if you get notifications. ;)

Yes, those were auto-generated and I completely didn't notice them. They're edited now with the correct date - thanks for pointing it out. :)

Hey, MbD, thank you for setting up the club and different discussions for the chapters. :)
