No worries - BL is advertising this one far and wide (even on Facebook) so we might, or might not, get a few more new members. We'll at least be giving the Book Clubs a workout. :)
You know what's been quite fun about the update posts so far? Each one of us seems to have caught a slightly different aspect of the book so far. I love that the buddy read brings out these different angles.
Yes! It's the best part, I think; I always come away with perspectives I missed in my own reading.
BrokenTune and I have been thinking it might be fun to turn this club (after this read, so as to not confuse anyone) into a general book club for Science Buddy Reads. We'd choose a non-fiction (of course) Science title every 2 or 3 months, depending on the consensus.
What do you guys think? Any interest? Any ideas for a good name?
Yes please! Not that I can promise to read everything you select, but I would be interested.

I hope the book choices will be a group consensus; although, if we pick a book about space or AI, I can't promise to read everything either, lol.
Yay! I'd be up for that, but can't promise to read every book either. It would still be nice to have a group dedicated to non-fiction Science reading - many of the non-fiction books I have on my TBR originated with recommendations from BLikers, so there must be some common interest between us. :D
I read science from time to time (read a couple this year already) - so hopefully I can do this as well.
One Science book a month? One every 2 months? 3 months?
I was thinking once every 2 months (or 3) - since science, even popular science, tends not to be a quick read, I didn't want to overwhelm anyone or scare anyone off with 1 a month. Especially those that don't have a lot of time to read, but might be interested in the book.
We could start by choosing several books and schedule them out in advance. That would allow people to get the book if they need to, and those of us who might read faster can decide whether or not they want to hold off reading that particular book until the group reads it.
We could do one a month, and everyone dips in and out as they want, but I thought maybe longer reads would allow for higher participation rates.
What do you all think?

I was thinking this morning a good way to start might be to compare our science themed TBRs - see what books we have in common and choose from there. Of course, this means I have to go and shelve all my science tbr books properly, since I usually only shelve a book once I've read it, but I can do that easily enough. :)
I mentioned on Susanna's blog post that my library has 'Other Minds', and I just saw they have 'I Contain Multitudes' as well. Unfortunately there are holds for both, and our digital library often has long wait times.
I think every few months is good. Non-fiction is not always the fastest read.
I would rather not clutter my shelves up with TBR books since there are very many of them. We can all list our top 10 TBR science books and then choose the 3 that show up more often? That will give us 3 books between August and December - 3 books in 5 months? Or is that too many?
I Contain Multitudes is pretty good and contains very little complicated science.
