Modern History
Modern History (ReMade Book 12) - Carrie Harris,Gwenda Bond,Matthew Cody,Kiersten White,E. C. Myers,Andrea Phillips

This was an interesting episode, but it still didn't answer the most pressing questions as why these kids were chosen, how do they get to be alive while they are all actually dead. I feel we're close to the answers (it's only three more episodes) but I've been saying this for some episodes now, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

The story now focuses on Cole, who's been injured early on in the season. His backstory was rather sad, and made me like him more (at first I was more or less distrusting him). I do wonder if we'll keep getting backstories right to the end, because sometimes they slow down the story too much and I'm expecting a grande finale here.

Mourning Train
Mourning Train (ReMade Book 7) - Carrie Harris,Gwenda Bond,Matthew Cody,Kiersten White,E. C. Myers,Andrea Phillips

*Warning: spoilers for earlier episodes below*

Now that the two stories have converged and everyone is aboard of the mysterious train, it is time to lick the wounds caused by the caretaker attack. This episode is new in that it doesn't follow a new character with a new background, but rather focuses again on Naveah.

What will stay with me best from this episode though, is something that shows just how there is not a lot more of this world than they are actively explaining. Several characters think back to those who died during the attack and it is always 'Jing-Wei, Wesley and all those others' although no-one ever seems to bother to mention any of 'those others'. Strange.

The Most Dangerous Game
The Most Dangerous Game (ReMade Book 4) - E. C. Myers,Andrea Phillips,Carrie Harris,Gwenda Bond,Matthew Cody,Kiersten White

Another episode, another backstory... (This really seems to be the formula of the series).

Episode four focuses on Loki (not his real name) and how he ended up in the complete mess everyone's in at the moment. At the same time, some dangerous predators are lurking in the shadows.

It was an enjoyable read, but somewhere I was glad it was so short. The backstories sometimes really pulled me out of the story instead of providing more bonding with the characters.

Home, Perilous Home
Home, Perilous Home (ReMade Book 3) - Carrie Harris,Gwenda Bond,Matthew Cody,Kiersten White,E. C. Myers,Andrea Phillips

I'm starting to see a certain rhythm in this serial. So far, each episode focuses on a single of the teens and the reason why they died. Episode three specifically focuses on Naveah, who had previously died from cancer, and seems to be the only one to be very glad to be alive.

The rest of them are just trying to find a new way to live, where ever it is they are now. But foraging for food proves more difficult than previously thought. And more dangers are lurking in the shadows.

So far, I've found the episodes entertaining, but no more special than any number of YA dystopian stories I've already read. The advantage of all of them having previously died or in what kind of world they currently are remains unanswered, but will probably not be solved before the end of the first season, episode 15. Until then, I will read on.

REMADE: Season One-Episode 1 "Shadows and Dreams"...
Shadows and Dreams - Gwenda Bond,Andrea Phillips,Carrie Harris,Kiersten White,E.C. Myers,Matthew Cody

Remade Synopsis:

"Every minute, 108 people die. On October 14th, 2016, from 9:31-9:32 p.m. EDT, 23 of those deaths will be teenagers. Now they are humanity’s last hope for survival.

Awakened in a post-apocalyptic world and hunted by mechanical horrors, these teens search for answers amidst the ruins of civilization. Fate, love, and loyalty face off in this adrenaline -pumping YA adventure."

Episode 1- "Shadows and Dreams" Synopsis

"Holden Black never imagined his crush knew his name, much less that he’d suddenly be driving her to a party. But life can change in a second, especially when you’re 16. A look. A flash of headlights. A scream. What do you do when the unexpected jumps straight to the unbelievable, the dream becomes a nightmare, and waking changes everything except your heart’s desire."

Remade is a new YA post-apocalyptic serial written by a collaboration of authors: Matthew Cody, Kiersten White, E. C. Myers, Andrea Phillips, Carrie Harris & Gwenda Bond, and published by Serial Box Publishing. There are 15 episodes and each episode will be released weekly and feature one of the six different authors I listed above.

I have to admit, when I started reading the first episode, Shadows & Dreams, written by Matthew Cody, it didn't grab me the way the Bookburners serial did but as I read further into it I became more intrigued. I haven't quite made my mind up if I'm going to read the full season yet because so far I've only really got a glimpse of what's to come but I'm definitely going to stick around for another episode and see where the story leads. There's a fantastic cast of authors so I expect the serial will only get better and better but we'll see. I'm going to reserve my full opinion until I get a little further into it.
