Shadows and Dreams - Gwenda Bond,Andrea Phillips,Carrie Harris,Kiersten White,E.C. Myers,Matthew Cody

Remade Synopsis:

"Every minute, 108 people die. On October 14th, 2016, from 9:31-9:32 p.m. EDT, 23 of those deaths will be teenagers. Now they are humanity’s last hope for survival.

Awakened in a post-apocalyptic world and hunted by mechanical horrors, these teens search for answers amidst the ruins of civilization. Fate, love, and loyalty face off in this adrenaline -pumping YA adventure."

Episode 1- "Shadows and Dreams" Synopsis

"Holden Black never imagined his crush knew his name, much less that he’d suddenly be driving her to a party. But life can change in a second, especially when you’re 16. A look. A flash of headlights. A scream. What do you do when the unexpected jumps straight to the unbelievable, the dream becomes a nightmare, and waking changes everything except your heart’s desire."

Remade is a new YA post-apocalyptic serial written by a collaboration of authors: Matthew Cody, Kiersten White, E. C. Myers, Andrea Phillips, Carrie Harris & Gwenda Bond, and published by Serial Box Publishing. There are 15 episodes and each episode will be released weekly and feature one of the six different authors I listed above.

I have to admit, when I started reading the first episode, Shadows & Dreams, written by Matthew Cody, it didn't grab me the way the Bookburners serial did but as I read further into it I became more intrigued. I haven't quite made my mind up if I'm going to read the full season yet because so far I've only really got a glimpse of what's to come but I'm definitely going to stick around for another episode and see where the story leads. There's a fantastic cast of authors so I expect the serial will only get better and better but we'll see. I'm going to reserve my full opinion until I get a little further into it.

Bookburners The Complete Season One...
Bookburners The Complete Season One - Mur Lafferty,Max Gladstone,Margaret Dunlap,Brian Francis Slattery

Bookburners is a serial about a detective named Sal Brooks who joins a secret Vatican Black-Ops Squad after her brother gets possessed by demons after handling an ancient text that houses dark magic and demons. The squad is tasked with retrieving these books and securing them in their archives before more demons are spread through the world.

I wasn't sure what to expect going in to this but I knew the serial was about books so I couldn't pass it up. I'm glad I didn't. I thoroughly enjoyed every episode! There's a little bit of mystery, a little action, lots of magic and a great cast of some pretty cool and quirky characters too.

There are 16 episodes and each episode is fairly short so you can read through them pretty quickly when you don't have a lot of time but they pack a lot into a few pages. Also, the serial is written by four different authors that rotate episodes so you're in for a little something different each time which I really liked. I thought the four authors, Max Gladstone, Brian Francis Slattery, Mur Lafferty & Margaret Dunlap did a fantastic job collaborating and keeping the stories tied together and flowing naturally which I imagine isn't an easy thing to do with multiple personalities and writing styles.

I've gotten hooked on this serial so I definitely plan to continue with Season 2. A whole new set of authors are featured so I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store for the Bookburners.

Bookburners Season One: Episode 9...
Bookburners: Ancient Wonders (Season 1, Episode 9) - Mur Lafferty,Max Gladstone,Margaret Dunlap,Brian Francis Slattery

We've been to Vegas, we've been to Rome, Glasgow, Ostia, Tanner City etc. etc...now the Bookburners head to a small monastery in Borgen-Bresse, France to take on, none other than -zombies! (or "animated remains" as some of the Bookburners call them) As they continue to hunt the mysterious Mr. Norse who played nasty with them in one of their previous missions, he keeps leaving little surprises in his wake, like zombies, to slow Team 3 down, while he moves closer and closer to finding the one book he doesn't need to get his hands on, the Codex Umbra.

This was another outstanding episode by Margaret Dunlap. Team 3 has exhausted all of their leads so they have to channel a little ancient magic of their own. Team 3 is normally against the use of magic because of the dangers that surround it so seeing them cook up some magic together was a lot of fun. : )  I'm looking forward to seeing how the cat & mouse chase plays out in the next episode...

Bookburners Season One: Episode 8...
Bookburners: Under My Skin (Season 1, Episode 8) - Mur Lafferty,Max Gladstone,Margaret Dunlap,Brian Francis Slattery

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas  - like that one night stand after one too many, gambling your savings because you're feeling lucky or getting inked with that tribal band you wanted since Junior year! : ) Well be thankful you didn't get one of these tattoos...

After reports come in that reality TV contestants on a new show called Ink Stainz: Vegas are dropping dead after receiving their on-air tats, Team 3 heads to Sin City.

Someone has cursed the ink! Can Team 3 find the tattoo artist responsible? The clock is ticking...

This episode was tons of fun! It was something different to spice it up. I wonder where Team 3's heading next??

Bookburners Season One: Episode 7 - 3.5 stars...
Bookburners: Now and Then (Season 1, Episode 7) - Mur Lafferty,Max Gladstone,Margaret Dunlap,Brian Francis Slattery

This episode is all about Grace, member of Team 3. We learn all about her past and how she came to work at the Society.

I have to say at first I didn't really care for this episode. I felt like there was a disconnect somewhere and I had a hard time understanding what the hell was going on. But in the second half of the episode, it all came together and finally made sense to me.

Grace has a pretty neat back story and I learned something about her I totally was not expecting. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the team's history looks like.
