Catching him a mate
Chasing Seth - J.R. Loveless

Seth Davies moves to a small town where he meets Sheriff Kasey Whitedove.  He buys a veterinarian practice since he cares deeply for animals and living things.  No one knows that he can actually heal.  There is a price for when he does, though.  A secret he must keep to himself.

Kasey is leery of Seth from the beginning.  He has not been impressed by the white man.  He has only been told true shapeshifters were Cheyenne, like himself.  He is angered by his attraction to Seth also.

Seth is confused by how he feels for Kasey.  He knows he cannot start anything with a man who seems to hate him.  He has a practice to build up, and he needs to somehow fit in.  Following the Sheriff around when it is not wanted would not go over well.

Kasey helps Seth following an accident.  They become grudging friends.  Then the truth comes out.  Can trust be born of deceit?  What if they truly are mates?

This is an inspiring story of love and not giving up.  I was really touched by the fact that the whole pack was very loyal.  This story makes you get the feels.  You have been warned!  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Chasing Seth - J.R. Loveless 3.5 stars

Now this was some awful writing!
Let me tell you guys my favorite parts.

Kasey is native American and racist as fuck. But that’s okay, because you know, all white people are bad bad men.

There are werewolves. And because werewolves are magic, their clothes also magically disappear when they shift and appear when shifting back.
*whines* Why would the author do that??? It is not necessary for my guys to wear clothes. I am FINE with them running around naked. At least then we would have some of this.

Or better yet, this.

What’s not to like?
But fine, they wear clothes. Party poopers.

I was also pretty surprised about the fact that these guys use NO LUBE AT ALL. Ouch.

Even though Seth was a rape victim and Kasey was his first after that.

And the big love declaration…

“I love you too,” Seth said thickly.
“I’m sorry it took me so long to say it.”

Yes, Seth, what were you thinking, waiting a WHOLE WEEK after meeting Kasey.

This book is also filled with terms like, the older man, his pup, the sheriff, his fragile mate. But my all-time favorite is this one:

Needing to see the evidence of his pup’s desire for him, he pulled the sheet away from them both and lifted up enough to see the weeping staff.

Am I the only one thinking of Harry Potter while reading this?

And now, the plot. The plot made absolutely no sense at all. I had a feeling the author just made it up as she went along. But that’s okay.

It was fluffy goodness and I liked it!

Chasing Seth
Chasing Seth - J.R. Loveless So this book was good. After looking at several reviews I knew what to expect so I was excited going in after holding off for so long. Am I glad I read this? Yes, definitely. It's a really good book, but it wasn't amazing. I just didn't fall in love with it the way I do other books.

There are a few scenes in this that I know people won't like. It involves animals and yeah, it's pretty graphic. So people should be warned if they can't read that type of violence.

I really liked Seth. He'd been through so much already and then to have Kasey act the way he did... It was really hard to like Kasey at first. But he changed and he was really good to Seth and they did work as a couple, though it took a lot for them to get their HEA. After all, the past was still there and Seth had to deal with those demons.

The whole Nick and Thayne drama that will lead into the second book made me really, really nervous about Forgiving Thayne. I'm prepared for angst and drama and I don't know how I'll end up feeling about that one. I started preparing myself after finding out everything that was going on.

So would I recommend this book? Yes! But if you don't like shifters or darker books then I would avoid this one.

Chasing Seth
Chasing Seth - J.R. Loveless I would probably have given this book 4 or 4.5 stars, but as an animal lover I couldn't rate it that high because of the two dogs that were killed in this book. Both were unnecessary, but the second was too much for me. I loved the rest of the story with Kasey's prejudice coming back to bite him in the a$$. Seth was adorable, and I felt badly for him. He has been through so much in his young life, and while I get why he was cautious, I just wanted to scream at him to let Kasey in and be happy. I am glad he made Kasey work for it though!

Chasing Seth
Chasing Seth - J.R. Loveless 3.5 Didn't realize it was a shifter novel when I picked it up. Pulled me in, then suddenly I was bored with the story.
