License to Date
License to Date - Susan Hatler

This was laugh-out loud funny! Kaitlin was a hoot! Paul was sweet. I thought the writing was sassy and really appreciated the humor

Review: License to Date
License to Date - Susan Hatler

This book is like candy... it's sweet and makes me happy, and it's short so didn't take too long to read, while still managing to develop the main characters enough so that I actually liked them. License to Date is the sixth book in Susan's Hatler's "Better Date than Never" series, but can be read as a standalone. I'm assuming that some of the other background characters are introduced in the first five books, but you don't lose anything by reading this alone.

Kaitlin is understandably upset... she found out that her fiance was cheating on her shortly before the wedding, and she's just now starting to get her life settled around her again. Needless to say, dating is not really on the plan. In a neat twist, her two friends convince her that if she goes on five dates, they'll help her paint her entire house...that's something like 2000 square feet of free labor. Things go awry, however, when Kaitlin falls for someone who was NOT on her dating list,

This is a sweet romance, showing up that hope sometimes still exists after disappointment. If you're a fan of happily ever after, I suggest giving this a try!

Dating, who needs it?
License to Date - Susan Hatler

Kaitlin was heartbroken by a fiance who cheated on her, with her sister.  She meets Paul number 2 - at the bar of her favorite martini.  The name aside, his bright blue eyes make her insides melt and she thinks about kissing him.

Paul, has moved back to Sacramento after his father died.  He is trying to learn everything about the family business.  And.... he moved to take care of his mom.  Isn't that sweet?

When he serves her and laughs along with her - he seems like the perfect guy.  If Kaitlin were still into that sort of thing.  She seems to see him in a different job each day.  She only agreed to meet her dates at the hotel since her favorite drink is there.

She makes a deal with her friends that she will date guys at least once.  Then her friends promise after 5 dates, they will help with her new home.  She figures free labor is worth it and makes the dates all for the same week.

There are a few surprises coming her way.  Some in the dates themselves, others in what she does on the date.  Her friends, meanwhile, feel like the entertainment is payment.  Can real love come out of all the looking?  Good story.  Best of the series so far, in my opinion. This is book # 6 in the Better Date Than Never series.  I give it 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

This was a really cute story that was easy to read and generally optimistic. It delivers just what it promises to. I read it in a night and was easily engaged.

Kaitlin is a very relatable character and I slipped into her story easily. Her ex-fiance had cheated on her, causing her to become very cynical about men and relationships. She's stubborn and very content with her own life, as shown by her desire to make her house beautiful. I enjoyed her strength and independence.

This was well-written; though there was nothing absolutely phenomenal, there were some scenes that had me feeling all the emotions that our characters were feeling, and others that had a lot of tension and excitement. The story also concentrated on the general emotions instead of getting X-rated, which is hard to find nowdays.

There's a small subplot about familial relations and standing up for oneself. I had guessed the one sort of 'surprise' by Kaitlin's second date, but this made her interactions with Paul even more fun.

Overall this is a simple romance that did just what it promised to do--entertained and distracted from the real world for a while.

License to Date [Susan Hatler]
License to Date - Susan Hatler

I think this book is longer then the others in the series.  Maybe it's just longer then the last few books.

There's a big reveal about Paul (who isn't really who he says he is).  I figured out who he was long before we get to that point, and I won't spoil too much by saying who he is.  He never lies to her, just omits things.

I really loved these two together and was surprised at the reminder that it's only been a week.  The book starts during the weekend and ends that Friday, with an epilogue set two months after the end of the book.

I could have done without the whole coincidence that his name just happens to be Paul.  I get that some names are popular, but poor Kaitlin didn't need the added confusion of that. I expected her ex Paul to show up at some point and confuse people even more.
