The Forever Year (The Hearts of Men Book 1) - Lou Aronica

The Forever Year (The Hearts of Men book 1) by Lou Aronica
Have read other works by the author and have enjoyed the books.
This one starts out with Mickey Sienna and he's 83 and his wife has been gone 4 years now and he's not himself. He ends up starting a fire in the kitchen and the neighbors rescue him while calling the fire department.
The grown children learn of it and they get together and decide it's time he goes into assisted living or a nursing home.
The youngest, Jessie, single says he will take him to live with him and the others sign off on it all together. Jessie is a writer who does feature stories and he has a girl Marina who is a schoolteacher.
Love how the father opens up about Gina-his first love because he nor any of the other siblings know anything about this. He confides in Marina and she does meet Mickey and they get along great.
Love the story inside the story and especially the care Jessie gives to his father while he's alive. Tragic at the end but also eye opening to understand what the father was trying to tell his son about his own life and how he wanted him to NOT walk in the same steps he had taken.
Excerpts from the authors other works are included at the end.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Ready For Love (Semper Fi, The Forever Faithful, #1) by Stella Starling Review
Ready For Love (Semper Fi, The Forever Faithful Series) (Volume 1) - Stella Starling

Jake Hansen has been crushing on Gabe Byrne for half his life, but since Gabe is a straight, self-proclaimed commitment-phobe who moved away years ago to join the Marines, that crush is strictly a fantasy-best-enjoyed-in-private. And even when Gabe starts to flirt with him like crazy, Jake still knows better than to think it means anything.

Because falling in love with your straight bestie? Not just a cliche, but a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

…right?

Growing up, Gabe never saw “Little Jakey” as anything more than the kid who always liked to tag along after him and his brothers, but somehow, being friends with Jake has become the best part of his day. And after a seven-month deployment? Seeing Jake is the one thing he’s looking forward to the most.

He just didn’t expect that hanging out in person again would be so confusing… or keep blurring the lines about how straight he is… or keep making him want things that he never thought he would.

Things that seem a lot like forever.

Review

I liked this book despite myself.

I adored Jake. I loved his self awareness and fun.

Gabe is a commitment phobe and a reactor so not my favorite character type. He also is in the I have never felt desire for any other man but you type and not a demisexual so also not my favorite. He does a lot of not self aware stuff.

And yet it is a sweet romance and I liked Jake enough and he liked Gabe enough that I enjoyed myself.

A nice circle of friends and family. I have already started the next book in the series which is way sweeter and I like it much more.

Batman Classic: Starro and Stripes Forever: With Superman and Wonder Woman - Gina Vivinetto,Rick Farley,Kanila Tripp
For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-Cycle

Overall, a good story. I liked that this book included Wonder Woman and she actually had a role in the defeat of Starro.

Kind of an advanced read for children. The pictures are pretty simple and not super-cartoony so probably better for older children who are interested in superheroes. For younger superhero-enthusiast, I think the Super Hero Squad books would be a better fit. Yes, I know there's a whole DC vs. Marvel thing going on there, but it's my point of reference. Any of the Lego Batman ones would probably work for DC fans, but I have not read any of them.

Forever Your Earl By Eva Leigh $1.99
Forever Your Earl - Eva Leigh

Eleanor Hawke loves a good scandal. And readers of her successful gossip rag live for the exploits of her favorite subject: Daniel Balfour, the notorious Earl of Ashford. So when the earl himself marches into her office and invites her to experience his illicit pursuits firsthand, Eleanor is stunned. Gambling hells, phaeton races, masquerades . . . What more could a scandal writer want than a secret look into the life of this devilishly handsome rake?

Daniel has secrets, and if The Hawk's Eye gets wind of them, a man's life could be at stake. And what better way to distract a gossip than by feeding her the scandal she desperately craves? But Daniel never expected the sharp mind and biting wit of the beautiful writer, and their desire for each other threatens even his best-laid plans.

But when Eleanor learns the truth of his deception, Daniel will do anything to prove a romance between a commoner and an earl could really last forever.

Guess
More to Love (A Perfect Fit) - Alison Bliss

This is book #3, in the A Perfect Fit series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading in order.

Max pretends to be something he is not in order to get his way, and solve a problem for a friend.  Only he has no intention of falling for the woman he lies to.  How to fix it once he realizes the inevitable?

Jessica cannot believe there are so many people who love her efforts.  Coming to this new town and being accepted is a big deal in her life.  To find a man who gets her was just plain unexpected.  When the truth comes out, can she forgive a well meaning man?

This was a sweet and sexy installment to this great series.  The characters have great banter, heat, and sexy times.  I love how the challenge of chasing the girl is so very prominent in this story.  You really feel the struggle and the end result is so worth it!  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
