Poisoned Apples: Poems for You, My Pretty - Christine Heppermann
For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-Cycle

While this book was not quite what I expected, I still really enjoyed it. Rather than a collection of poetry that retells famous fairy tales (my expectation), this was instead a book of poetry that looks at fairy tales through a contemporary lens to comment on various topics such as eating disorders, double standards, societal expectations and standards of beauty, and sexuality in the modern world.

The poems create a sense of haunting awe, challenging the reader to rethink everything they thought they knew about the world around them and the fairy tales they grew up with. Paired with gorgeous and thought-provoking photographs, this book is as lovely as it is harrowing. These aren't cushy, comfy, feel-good poems. These are poems that stab at the seams of society and ask the reader to critically examine the outside world.

While some of the lines felt crass, especially in terms of sensitive topics like eating disorders, the book on the whole provided an eye-opening view of growing up female. Presented in caustic, mystifying, heartbreaking, magical language, these poems created a real experience.

Review: While My Pretty One Knits by Anne Canadeo
While My Pretty One Knits - Anne Canadeo

Title: While My Pretty One Knits

Author: Anne Canadeo
Series: Black Sheep Knitting Mysteries, 1
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: The Black Sheep Knitters -- Maggie, Lucy, Dana, Suzanne, and Phoebe -- meet once a week without fail, sharing the varied and colorful skeins of their lives as much as knitting tips, recipes, and small-town gossip, and creating an intricate, durable pattern of friendship. Now a shocking murder has peaceful Plum Harbor, Massachusetts, in knots -- and the Black Sheep women must herd together to protect one of their own from a scandalous frame-up.

Maggie Messina, beloved owner of the Black Sheep Knitting Shop, is thrilled to be hosting a workshop for one of her former students, now a celebrity in the knitting world. But the celebration is upstaged when Amanda Goran, the owner of the rival Knitting Nest, is found dead in her shop on the other side of town.

Maggie had reasons to dislike Amanda, a thorn in her side ever since Maggie's shop surpassed Amanda's in popularity. Then again, it wasn't hard to dislike Amanda -- the contentious woman, whose marriage was on the rocks, seemed to specialize in causing misery all over town. But the pointed evidence has a detective casting a suspicious eye on Maggie. She may be a whiz at knitting, but can she keep the police from needling her before her shop, her reputation, and her circle of friends become unraveled?

Favourite character: Tink & Phoebe
Least favourite character: N/A

Mini-review: This felt a bit forgettable. And the reason I say that is because I just finished the book and I have nothing to say except for the fact that I solved the mystery extremely early on.

I liked Tink.

strengths as well as some of the weaknesses

As far as other materials, this trimmer does a great job with photos, laminated documents, card stock, and presentation covers as well.2. There is also a guard rail that keeps the fingers that are holding that paper during cutting well away from the blade. This just seems to be a solidly built trimmer that should offer the typical user years and years of service. The light is operated by two AA batteries (and Swingline even includes a set of batteries with the trimmer), and is a great and incredible handy feature.Strengths and Features:1. Many times you have to spend a lot more to find a trimmer with a Spout Pouch Suppliers wood cutting surface, but you will find one on this machine, along with a heavy-duty metal cutting arm, and rubber feet that keep the trimmer securely in place when in use.

The sheet capacity of 15 pages is acceptable for light to medium duty work, but if your typical projects tend to be hundreds or thousands of pages, you may want to get a more powerful trimmer. The 15" Classic Cut Laser Trimmer is a light to medium duty paper trimmer that comes with a lot of nice features. The cutting surface also also features an alignment grid and rulers for both metric and US measurements to help ensure precise cutting. As with any paper trimmer on the market, however, your results Flexible Packaging Manufacturers may be a little better if you operate below that stated capacity. By all accounts, the 15" CC Laser does the job at that capacity, but you will probably find that your cuts are cleaner if your stacks are a little smaller.

The blade's cutting length of 15" is great for letter and legal sized sheets as well as longer custom sized documents as well. First of all, there's a latch that locks the blade into place when the trimmer is not being used. The 15" CC Laser has a couple of safety features that are worth noting. These types of mid-range guillotine cutters can sometimes be a little difficult to get precise cut with, and the laser light is a well thought out addition.2. The overall construction of this machine is impressive as well.4.6.Weaknesses and Limitations.

Here we take a look at this machine and give you what we consider to be some it its strengths as well as some of the weaknesses. One of the best features of the 15" Classic Cut Laser is, of course, the laser line which gives the user a clear and exact line by which to cut.. While these sorts of safety features are pretty much the industry standard, it is always nice to have them, as these types of trimmers can be dangerous if used improperly. The safety features are also acceptable, but if this trimmer is going to be used in a school setting by children, they should be closely supervised.3. The cutting capacity of the 15" CC Laser is pretty impressive as well at 15 pages of regular 20lb paper. The same could be said for any paper trimmer on the market.

Revenge
Pretty Reckless - Grace L.C. Shen-Ong

Penn has much to blame on Daria.  After he helped her to shoo his sister away, he spends the next four years on ice.  Literally not feeling anything, until he sees her again.

Daria has been trying to be seen.  She is not seen or heard at home.  She gravitates toward the loners, even though she is part of the popular kids at school.  Her attraction to Penn is the only thing she really feels.

This dark romance was quite the surprise.  I felt all the feels.  I laughed, cried, and basically begged for mercy as I got closer to the end of the book.  This is a story full of very deep and rich characters.  I found myself spellbound by them and wondering what they would do next.  I think this was a great read.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
