Let me tell you something straight off. This is a love story, but not like any you’ve heard. The boy and the girl are far from innocent. Dear lives are lost. And good doesn’t win.
I have been meaning to read that book for quite some time. I love the idea of Peter Pan, the boy who never wanted to grow up as I never wanted either. Sadly, this isn't how things work...
Tiger Lily is a magical tale. It's a love story above all. About your first love and how it defines you. And it is a retelling. Sort of. You've got Neverland, the pirates, the lost boys, the tribe and Peter Pan of course. But you read about them and they feel very real... I was in Neverland. Why? Because of the very clever way the story is narrated. Tinkerbell tells us the story as it unforlds. Tink is a fairy - a mute fairy. As you read you are Tink. The silent observer of the story. The one that cannot interfere, as all the characters in the end will do as they please.
Tink is obsessed with Tiger Lily, the native girl that befriends Peter Pan. She narrates one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read about. It's a love spark that slowly ignites in the hearts of our characters and in you, the reader.
This is the best retelling I have read. A five star read. A gorgeous written tale about love:
Every kind of love, it seems, is the only one. It doesn't happen twice. [..] I like to think that nothing's final, and that everyone get to be together even when it looks like they don't, that it all works out even when all the evidence seems to say something else, that you and I are always young in the woods, and that I'll see you sometime again, even if it's not with any kind of eyes I know of or understand.
Bravo Jody Lynn Anderson for writting something so beautiful and captivating. If you like retellings and fairy tales, I highly recommend this!
Loved this book. I actually finished it a couple of weeks ago and this is my first chance to sit and write about it. The characters and story were great, it kept me interested the entire time. It was a really nice new take on the Peter Pan story. My favorite part is that it is told in first person by Tinkerbell whose unique view of what was happening made the story all the more interesting. I was left, maybe, a bit dissatisfied by the ending, but I'm not sure, part of me loved it and thought it was perfect and part of me didn't. All in all a nice, quick, sweet read that reminds you of what first love (and first heartbreak) are all about.
You think Captain Hook is sexy? Peter Pan or any of his lost boys all grown up would make a great hero?
I have always felt Tiger Lily is the best princess of all.

5. A Pirate's Dream by Marie Hall

6. Seduced by a Pirate by Eloisa James

7. Hook, Wine & Tinker by Mardi Ballou
Gwyn's landed in a once-in-a-lifetime fantasy.
